· MEMS contract manufacturing to Bosch quality standards

· Bosch know-how as basis for comprehensive foundry service

· Rapid ramp-up from prototype to mass-production

With its MEMS, Bosch continues to hold the uncontested position of world market leader for micromechanical sensors. What is less well known is that, since 2001, 'fabless companies' have also been making use of the Stuttgart-based company's MEMS manufacturing technology, which has been perfected over two decades. These many years of experience provide a solid foundation for high quality, and are a guarantee of reliable operation – whether in the automobile or in consumer electronics. MEMS start-ups can also turn to the foundry. They might do so once sampling has been successful and their processes need adjusting to industrial-scale mass-production. Fears that trade secrets might be given away are unfounded: dealing responsibly with sensitive project data is everyday routine for Bosch. If it were not, Bosch would never have become the world's largest supplier to nearly every automaker.

For Bosch, the core of its MEMS foundry service is its competent continuation of a process development started by the customer, its short ramp-up times, and its just-in-time production. Anyone taking advantage of this competence will usually receive their MEMS components on six-or eight-inch wafers for further processing. On request, however, Bosch can do more, providing support in the process development phase. Bosch know-how can also help once the wafers have been produced. It offers services such as testing the finished wafers, integrating CMOS evaluation electronics on the MEMS chip, or subsequently separating the wafers into chips and packaging them.

Since production began in 1995, Bosch has manufactured well over one billion MEMS components at its Reutlingen plant. Its position as world market leader was also confirmed by an analysis conducted by the market observer iSuppli in March 2009: with its MEMS sensors for the automotive industry, Bosch currently generates more sales than its two closest rivals together. For its innovative further development of MEMS production technology Bosch has won prestigious awards, most recently the German Future Prize, Federal President's Award for Technology and Innovation 2008.

Readers' contact:
Thomas Koch
Phone +49 7121 35-39632

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. In the areas of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology, some 280,000 associates generated sales of 45.1 billion euros in fiscal 2008. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its more than 300 subsidiaries and regional companies in over 60 countries. If its sales and service partners are included, then Bosch is represented in roughly 150 countries. This worldwide development, manufacturing, and sales network is the foundation for further growth. Each year, Bosch spends more than 3.5 billion euros, or eight percent of its sales revenue, for research and development, and applies for over 3,000 patents worldwide. With all its products and services, Bosch enhances the quality of life by providing solutions which are both innovative and beneficial.

The company was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861-1942) as "Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering." The special ownership structure of Robert Bosch GmbH guarantees the entrepreneurial freedom of the Bosch Group, making it possible for the company to plan over the long term and to undertake significant up-front investments in the safeguarding of its future. Ninety-two percent of the share capital of Robert Bosch GmbH is held by Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH, a charitable foundation. The majority of voting rights are held by Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand KG, an industrial trust. The entrepreneurial ownership functions are carried out by the trust. The remaining shares are held by the Bosch family and by Robert Bosch GmbH.

Additional information can be accessed at www.bosch.com.

— WebWireID107233 —

Automotive

Electronic Components

Electronics

High Tech Security

Machinery

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Today, the inauguration of the 200 MW Nishat Power Ltd power plant, located at Jambar Kalan, near Bhai Pheru in the District of Kasur, takes place with a ceremony at the plant site. The principal guest and main speaker will be Mr Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister of Pakistan. Also in attendance will be Pakistan's Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, the Chairman of the Nishat Group, Mian Mohammad Mansha, the Governor of the Punjab, Mr Salman Taseer, the Chief Minister of the Punjab, Mr Mian Shahbaz Sharif as well as senior representatives of Wärtsilä, the supplier of the power plant.

Wärtsilä has been responsible for the engineering, procurement and project management. Its scope of supply has included 11 Wärtsilä 18V46 generating sets, each with a rated capacity in excess of 17 MW. An additional 14 MW of electricity is generated by a combined cycle steam turbine, which utilizes the waste heat from the engines. The plant will be operated and maintained by Wärtsilä Pakistan under an initial 5-year agreement.

The electricity produced by the plant will be supplied to the national grid, and will thus ease to some extent the country's existing power shortage. Furthermore, since the local fuel supply situation is often unreliable, the fuel flexibility of the Wärtsilä engines offers an ideal solution for this location. Wärtsilä's technology enables the utilization of locally available fuel with the highest possible efficiency to ensure a reliable supply of power to the grid. The plant's life cycle efficiency is rated at an outstanding 45%, and the average availability of its power supply is estimated to average 88%.

Wärtsilä and the Nishat Group have a long established relationship, Nishat having purchased its first Wärtsilä engines in 2003. Today, the company owns some 600 MW of Wärtsilä power plants.

In his message to the inauguration, Ole Johansson, CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation said: 'This inauguration marks a significant milestone in the strong and lasting relationship between our companies. Wärtsilä has a global track record of showing strong commitment to its customers, and this commitment is evidenced by the fact that we established Wärtsilä Pakistan already 15 years ago, in 1994. This local presence enables us to support our operations in Pakistan, and train local personnel in the efficient operation and service of our power plant installations. Nishat Power Ltd is a prestigious project for Pakistan in general, and for the Nishat Group in particular. We congratulate everyone involved and are proud to play our part in providing Pakistan with reliable and sustainable power.'

Wärtsilä in brief
Wärtsilä is a global leader in complete lifecycle power solutions for the marine and energy markets. By emphasising technological innovation and total efficiency, Wärtsilä maximises the environmental and economic performance of the vessels and power plants of its customers.
In 2008, Wärtsilä's net sales totalled EUR 4.6 billion with 19,000 employees. The company has operations in 160 locations in 70 countries around the world. Wärtsilä is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Helsinki, Finland.

www.wartsila.com

— WebWireID107232 —

Architecture / Construction / Building

Environment

Machinery

Oil / Energy

Utilities

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

First Curriculum Offerings from NIDA Centers of Excellence for Physician Information

The rigors of medical training sharpen a doctor's ability to diagnose and treat a wide variety of human afflictions. However, drug abuse and addiction are often insufficiently covered in medical school curricula, despite the fact that drug use affects a wide range of health conditions and drug abuse and addiction are themselves major public health issues.

To improve drug abuse and addiction training of future physicians, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), part of the National Institutes of Health, today unveiled a series of new teaching tools, through its Centers of Excellence for Physician Information Program (NIDA CoEs), at the Association of American Medical Colleges 2009 Annual Meeting's "Innovations in Medical Education" Exhibit in Boston.

The new NIDA CoE curriculum resources provide scientifically accurate information on substance abuse, addiction and its consequences to help meet the educational needs of medical students, residents and medical school faculty. The first seven curriculum resources include lectures, problem-based case studies, a faculty workshop, and a web module, any of which can be incorporated into existing medical curricula.

"Physicians can be the first line of defense against substance abuse and addiction, but they need the resources and the training," said NIDA Director Dr. Nora D. Volkow. "Our long term goal is for doctors to incorporate screening for drug use into routine practice like they currently screen for other diseases; to help patients that are abusing to stop; and to refer more serious cases to specialized treatment."

Three themes have emerged in this first wave of CoE offerings: the importance of communication in the doctor-patient relationship, particularly around sensitive issues; the recognition that substance abuse may play an integral role in many disorders physicians treat, even when not the presenting condition; and the crucial part physicians can play in both identifying substance abuse in their patients and reducing their risk of developing a substance use disorder.

For example, several CoE resources address prescription drug abuse among chronic pain patients, which presents special issues for physicians, who must balance adequate treatment with the risks of addiction.

"Our goal is to improve the quality of pain treatment and the safety of prescribing opioids by increasing the knowledge and skills of medical providers early in the educational process," emphasized Dr. Jeffrey Baxter of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, developer of one of the CoE resources.

By pairing substance abuse expertise with innovations in medical education, these curriculum adjuncts can enhance substance abuse medical education, help to remove the stigma associated with substance abuse, and ultimately improve patient care.

The NIDA CoE program was created through a partnership with the American Medical Association's medical education research collaborative, Innovative Strategies for Transforming the Education of Physicians and includes the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, the Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance, the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Creighton University School of Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Drexel University College of Medicine.

The NIDA CoE program is part of NIDAMED — NIDA's ongoing commitment to the medical community to provide scientifically accurate and useful resources for addressing substance abuse in their patients. NIDAMED offers a variety of tools, including an online interactive screening tool to help doctors accurately assess their patient's substance use.

More information on the NIDA CoE resources can be found at: www.drugabuse.gov/coe.

Information on the NIDAMED program can be found at: www.nida.nih.gov/nidamed.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) — The Nation's Medical Research Agency — includes 27 Institutes and Centers and is a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is the primary federal agency for conducting and supporting basic, clinical and translational medical research, and it investigates the causes, treatments, and cures for both common and rare diseases.
FDA Warns Companies against Marketing Illegal Flavored Cigarettes

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is enforcing the flavored cigarette ban provision of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (Tobacco Control Act) by issuing several warning letters to companies continuing to sell illegal flavored cigarettes to consumers in the United States through their Web sites.

The warning letters directed the companies to cease the marketing and sale of these products immediately or to take other appropriate action to bring the products into compliance with the law. Failure to do so may result in additional regulatory actions such as seizure or injunction. In addition, FDA requested a written response from each of the companies within 15 days outlining the corrective actions taken.

Enforcement of the flavored cigarette ban is FDA's effort to remove cigarettes that contain certain candy or fruit flavors from the marketplace. Removal of these products from the market will assist in the prevention of children and adolescents from starting to smoke and in the reduction in death and disease caused by smoking.

'FDA takes the enforcement of this flavored cigarette ban seriously,' said Lawrence R. Deyton, M.S.P.H, M.D., director of FDA's Center for Tobacco Products. These actions should send a clear message to those who continue to break the law that FDA will take necessary actions to protect our children from initiating tobacco use.'

The Tobacco Control Act, which was passed by Congress and signed by the President in June 2009, specifically called for a ban on cigarettes containing certain characterizing flavors. On Sept. 14, 2009, FDA sent a letter to regulated industry reminding them that the ban would go into effect on Sept. 22, 2009. FDA also stated in the letter that any company who continued to sell such products after the Sept. 22, 2009, effective date may be subject to FDA enforcement actions.

Since the effective date of the ban, FDA has examined products offered for import and searched the Internet to identify illegal products. As a result, FDA issued several warning letters to companies and Web sites that continued to market and sell these illegal products over the Internet to consumers in the United States. The warning letters were the result of Internet searches conducted by FDA's Office of Enforcement and the Center for Tobacco Products.

FDA posted the warning letters that detail the offending websites and flavored cigarette products on the agency's Web site. Review warning letters issued by FDA:
http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/default.htm

Report possible violations of the flavored cigarette ban:
www.fda.gov/flavoredtobacco

— WebWireID107228 —

Advertising / Marketing

Government

Health Care / Hospitals

Politics

Tobacco

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Davis is the 10th chairman and CEO in UPS's 102-year history but only the third to spend time guiding the affairs of a "public" UPS.

UPS, founded as a Seattle messenger service in 1907 by a 19-year-old named Jim Casey, was owned privately by employees, retirees and various foundations until Nov. 10, 1999. On that day, UPS issued 109.4 million Class B shares representing 10 percent of the company's outstanding shares at an IPO price of $50 per share.

At the time, the $5.47 billion raised on that day was the largest domestic IPO ever. Over the ensuing 10 years, public ownership of UPS has grown from 10 percent of the company's stock to 70 percent.

"The IPO marked another milestone in our 102-year history that allowed us to lever our financial strength to expand our business," said Davis, noting UPS now offers a broad range of logistics, supply chain, freight, customs brokerage, financial and retail services.

"I firmly believe that going public facilitated execution of UPS's strategy to become the leading global transportation solutions provider," he added. "UPS is better positioned today than at any time in its history."

About UPS
Headquartered in Atlanta, Ga., UPS serves more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

SEATTLE — For the first time, researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center have reported the use of a radiolabeled antibody to deliver targeted doses of radiation, followed by a stem cell transplant, to successfully treat a group of leukemia and pre-leukemia patients for whom there previously had been no other curative treatment options.

All fifty-eight patients, with a median age of 63 and all with advanced acute myeloid leukemia or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome - a pre-leukemic condition - saw their blood cancers go into remission using a novel combination of low-intensity chemotherapy, targeted radiation delivery by an antibody and a stem-cell transplant. Forty percent of the patients were alive a year after treatment and approximately 35 percent had survived three years, about the same rates as patients who received similar treatment but whose disease was already in remission and who had much more favorable risk for relapse when therapy began.

Results of the research appear online in the journal Blood. The principal investigator and corresponding author of the paper is John Pagel, M.D., Ph.D, a transplant oncologist and assistant member of the Hutchinson Center's Clinical Research Division.

The purpose of the study was to find the maximum dose of radiation that patients could tolerate with acceptable toxic side effects, not to assess how effective the novel treatment was, according to Pagel and colleagues. However, "the results appear to be very encouraging and warrant us to study it further for patients who really have no significant other curative options," Pagel said.

Older (over age 50) patients with active, advanced leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome pose the most difficult treatment challenges because standard transplant therapy rarely works, according to Pagel. Both standard and low-dose therapies (a process sometimes known as a "mini transplant" and pioneered at the Hutchinson Center) used to kill leukemia cells in the bloodstream in preparation for a transplant usually require that patients be in remission.

The patients in this study, who came from all over the world to participate in the Phase 1 clinical trial, were in large part those with active relapsed disease that in many cases had failed to respond to standard therapies. Eighty-six percent of the 58 patients had active disease and only 10 percent were in remission when therapy was begun. Their cancers had failed previous treatment attempts. "These were people who had extremely advanced high-risk disease, they were typically older - most of them were in their 60s and some were in their 70s - and had few or no other options for a potential cure. In fact most, if not all, would not been offered a stem cell transplant here or elsewhere. It is fair to say that these patients would likely have died without a transplant being performed if they had not been given the opportunity to participate in this study."

To find the optimal dose of radiation, researchers began at 12 Gy (Gray, a unit of measurement of absorbed radiation dose) and escalated the dosages in increments of 2 Gy up to a Gy of 26. At that dose, some toxicity to the heart and lungs was found so they concluded 24 Gy to be the maximum effective dosage. The 21 patients who received the maximum radiation dose have survived the longest, researchers reported.

The key to success in this study was use of a radiolabeled antibody that has therapeutic iodine 131 attached and is designed to target leukemic bloods cells that carry a marker on the surface of the cell known as CD45. Its use in delivering targeted amounts of radiation was developed several years ago at the Hutchinson Center. Delivered intravenously, the radiation looks for the CD45 antigen receptor on the surface of blood cells. This approach results in a two- to four-fold increase in the amount of radiation that reaches cancerous cells as compared to standard external beam radiation, which also radiates normal surrounding organs and tissue. The more radiation that can be applied, the more cancer cells will be killed in preparation for donor stem cells to take over the diseased immune system and kill off the remaining cancer cells.

Pagel said further research is needed to test more patients at the highest radiation dose both at the Hutchinson Center and at other transplant centers around the country.

Joining Pagel in the study were colleagues from the Hutchinson Center, the Pacific Northwest Laboratory and the departments of Medicine, Pediatrics and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, the Edson Foundation and the Frederick Kullman Memorial Fund supported this research.

At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, our interdisciplinary teams of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians work together to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Our researchers, including three Nobel laureates, bring a relentless pursuit and passion for health, knowledge and hope to their work and to the world.

Out of the laboratory: High-flux LED prototype with a feel-good effect

Regensburg, Germany, An LED that offers high efficiency, good color rendering and a pleasant warm white light has now been developed in the laboratories of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. The prototype therefore offers three important properties that together are essential for general illumination applications, namely a color temperature of 3000 K, a color rendering index of 82 and an efficiency of 104 lm/W.

A new converter mix that OSRAM is currently testing in its development laboratory provides a pleasant warm white light.

The pleasant light from this warm white LED is the result of an advanced conversion process. Not only is the quality of light excellent, the efficiency with which it is produced is also impressive. The combination of these properties is essential for the widespread use of LEDs for general illumination as the warm white light color is targeted specifically at the residential sector. Up to now, efficiencies in excess of 100 lm/W have been achieved only in the cold white spectrum. Dr. Frank Baumann, project manager for the development of warm white LEDs at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors explains: 'The successful combination of high quality of light and excellent energy efficiency will bring the commercial breakthrough for LED technology even closer. Efficient feel-good light is no longer just a vision.'

At 3000 K the light color of the LED is similar to that of a halogen lamp. Its color location is precisely on the Planckian curve. The light is exactly white showing no shift to the green spectral region. With an operating current of 350 mA and a chip surface of 1 mm2 the prototype of the new single-chip LED achieves a brightness of 124 lm. This corresponds to an efficiency of 104 lm/W. These record results are based on in-depth OSRAM know-how in providing a new chip architecture in conjunction with improvements in the epitaxial processes, improvements in the converter mix and a highefficiency package. OSRAM will be gradually integrating the new technologies into production.

OSRAM is part of the Industry sector of Siemens and one of the two leading lighting manufacturers in the world. Sales for the OSRAM group worldwide in the year ending September 30, 2008 totaled 4.6 billion euros, 88 percent of which came from outside Germany. OSRAM is a high-tech company in the lighting industry. Over 65 percent of sales come from energy-efficient products. This global player employs more than 43,500 people worldwide, supplies customers in some 150 countries and has 46 production facilities in 17 countries.

— WebWireID107224 —

Architecture / Construction / Building

Electronics

Environment

Oil / Energy

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

— High-end beauty event commerce site appoints new CEO and VP of Merchandising for re-branding —

Los Angeles, CA- The Fairest, an exclusive, members-only online beauty destination where beauty lovers can participate in premiere-brand, private events, each open for 48-72 hours, announces the appointment of Arthur Swanberg as CEO and Kim Logan as Vice President of Merchandising.

Prior to joining The Fairest, Swanberg served as CEO of Dermstore.com and Glow.com, building them into two of the top ecommerce sites in beauty and successfully selling the companies in 2008. According to Charles Perer, Partner at Intermix Capital and board member of The Fairest: 'Art brings both a history of success and unparalleled knowledge of the online beauty space.'

Logan, who led Business Development at Dermstore.com and Glow.com, has been appointed Vice President of Merchandising. Logan was responsible for building Dermstore.com's stable of brands to over 325 prestige brands and 9,000 SKUs. According to Swanberg: 'Kim's commitment, honesty and integrity is beyond reproach and this is widely recognized in the beauty space. We're fortunate to have her on The Fairest team.'

Both, Swanberg and Logan, have stratified a new positioning for The Fairest that embodies The Fairest as an online event commerce site that generates consistent excitement around the numerous featured brands through a series of value events targeted towards its members. By focusing on value-driven events for only a handful of SKUs and targeting an exclusive members-only subscriber base, The Fairest can actually increase traffic to a manufacturer's brick and mortar customers much the same way that events on HSN and QVC increase the overall awareness for a brand and drive traditional retail sales.

As for consumers, The Fairest is the place to shop for beauty enthusiasts who want to experience new brands. 'Although women gain a strong affinity to specific beauty products used in their daily regimens, time, trends and friends provide a fluid and fertile environment of change,' states Arthur Swanberg, CEO. 'The struggle for most women is to evolve their beauty habits, and feed their sense of experimentation and excitement for 'new,' while also realizing value.'

The Fairest restores the excitement inherent in discovering a new product in a rewarding, value-driven environment, and allows a woman to share her experience with friends. 'Brick and mortar retail stores have long known the value of event marketing, offering trunk sales and special value events, which allow a woman a guiltless outing with friends. This aspect of shopping has been overlooked in traditional ecommerce retailing,' says Swanberg.

About The Fairest:
www.TheFairest.com is the go-to site for purchasing favorite beauty brands at a great value. Forging a new channel of distribution for manufacturers, the event commerce site focuses exclusively on beauty by providing a platform for brands to communicate directly with consumers in an exciting, event-driven environment. This includes: user-generated makeup brand reviews, industry insider commentaries, and expert editorial content from site editor, Nadine Jolie. Site launch partners included: Stila, Clark's Botanicals, Korres, Anastasia, Tarte, Jurlique and BURN.

— WebWireID107216 —

Business Announcements

Household / Consumer / Cosmetics

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

The eleventh annual convocation ceremony of IILM-Undergraduate Business School - a leading management institute based in New Delhi, India was held on November 3, 2009. IILM's undergraduate programme began in 1996 in partnership with the University of Bradford, UK – a trendsetting joint venture that took advantage of the opening up of the Indian economy to economic reforms since 1991. More than 850 students have so far been awarded bachelor degrees in business administration, all of whom have been placed comfortably in a booming economy that is considered one of the future growth engines of the world economy. This year, 87 students received their degrees.
Prof Arthur Francis, Dean, School of Management, University of Bradford, who attended all the previous convocations, delivered the Graduation Address after the outgoing batch received their certificates and awards. According to him, the growth of IILM and the UBS programme mirrors the deep-going transformations in India's economy. 'My first visit was eight years after India's economic liberalization in 1991. We now know that this set India decisively on its current pathway of fast economic growth…. But year after year I have seen for myself … the modernisation of the capital city – the opening of the Delhi Metro, road-building with many expressways and overpasses, the development of Gurgaon, the growth of IILM itself.'
India's growth rate of 7-8 per cent a year meant that over 11 years its gross domestic product has more than doubled. Prof Francis argued that this is 'excellent news for the middle class, for merchants, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. It is even better news for the millions who were poor and who have been lifted out of poverty and illiteracy by this economic growth. And this economic growth has come about through the application, at the level of the economy, of economic theory taught in universities and business schools, and at the level of the firm by the application of the ideas you have taught on your degree programme at IILM.'
In the context of the global financial crisis, Prof Francis forcefully urged the outgoing graduates to keep in mind 3 Ms: might, mind and morals. Which approach is right? Might, mind, or morality? Of course, the answer has to be all of them. 'You are entering the world of the mighty and your political skills will be forever invaluable to you. We rely on you to exercise those political skills with the highest levels of morality. And do continue to use your minds at the highest possible level, to make sure you take the right technical decisions to avoid further financial and other crises, to ensure a sustainable future for us all, and to maintain a level of economic growth that continues to add to the world's health, wealth and wisdom', he concluded.
The IILM UBS and Bradford University School of Management collaboration has a mandate of providing the best management education coupled with value-based training and research. IILM UBS develops business leaders of tomorrow by integrating academics with exposure to real–life business situations.

— WebWireID107158 —

Education

Higher Education

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Walsh Family Media (WFM), a premier independent animation studio in New York City, is producing their first CG feature film, 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit'. With one feature in production, a sequel in preproduction, and a thriving service division catering to film and commercial clients, Walsh Family Media is emerging as a major player in the entertainment and media industry.

'The Cool Beans' are the company's flagship property. They are a group of hip, contemporary, musicians with an old school flare. In 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit', The Cool Beans, the hippest band in the garden, have spent all their money producing their first song in hopes of landing a recording contract with the Kernel, the president of Marigold Records. The Bean's recording is stolen by rival band The Bad Seedz who are hoping to eliminate the competition and land a contract of their own.

Apart from being featured in this upcoming film, The Beans are poised to make a big mark on the music scene. Their first single 'Bean Somethin'' was released earlier this month on Daddy Bean Records.

Walsh Family Media is an independent intellectual property developer and animation studio based in NYC. The company was started in 2002 by Hollywood stuntman and entrepreneur Patrick Walsh Jr. The company's mission has been consistent since it's inception: 'To strengthen the connection between parents and their children by producing healthy, hip and fun family branded content where the only rule is to keep it cool!'

Walsh Family Media is continuing to 'keep it cool' by bringing an independent edge to an industry run by huge corporations. For instance, on November 11 Patrick Walsh will be riding a children's tricycle from Downtown Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan to raise money for charity and to bring attention to independent film in NYC.

More information about 'The Cool Beans' can be found online at www.thecoolbeansmovie.com

About Patrick M. Walsh, Jr.

Patrick M. Walsh, Jr. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walsh Family Media, LLC and is the creator, writer, Producer and Director of The Cool Beans; We Need a Hit. Walsh's business career began on Wall Street in the Government Bond department of Fundamental Brokers. At Fundamental, a lifelong curiosity and experience with computers enabled him to lead the implementation of a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art trading system. After teaming up with Grammy Award nominated musician Danny Lavery to record songs for children, Walsh started on the road to developing his own unique kid-friendly property, Walsh left his career in business behind him for a life in the film industry.

In 1998, while continuing to develop music and ideas for a children's property Walsh began appearing as a stunt man and as an actor in both TV and film—most notably in The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow and I Heart Huckabees. In 2002 Walsh started Walsh Family Media, LLC and began developing the property that would become 'The Cool Beans' full-time out of his Upper West-Side New York apartment. Today Walsh Family Media continues to operate out of a studio in Mid-Town.

www.walshfamilymedia.com

— WebWireID107211 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Lifestyle / Society

Youth / Children

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds
