DENVER, May 23, 2013 – InsightSoftware.com (Insight), the makers of the award-winning InsightUnlimitedTM reporting, budgeting and reconciliation solution for Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards, today announced its customer support team received a satisfaction score of 96% during the first quarter of 2013, up one point from its annual average of 95% in 2012. This impressive score means 96% of Insight customers who completed a customer service satisfaction survey said they were either 'satisfied' or 'very satisfied' with their Insight customer service experience during the first quarter of the year.

Insight customers who completed the survey were asked to rate their satisfaction with Insight's support team according to the following questions:

How satisfied were you with the level of support provided to resolve your issue?

How satisfied were you with the response time to your case?

Was your case closed to your satisfaction?

'Too often, software companies think their obligation to the customer ends after the sale is made. Insight is different. We pride ourselves on providing our customers with direct access to an expert staff who can resolve issues quickly and efficiently at any point during or after the implementation,' said Janet Tinucci, client services director at InsightSoftware.com.

Surveyed customers were also asked to elaborate on their answers with comments and suggestions. In addition to highly rating their experience, customers praised Insight's support team for their expert product knowledge and fast, efficient response time. A sampling of positive comments include:

'Insight's issue response time is the best in the industry! You are the gold standard.'

'Insight's support team never fails to amaze me.'

'The best part was, I didn't contact anyone when I had trouble setting up my account, (I was going to deal with it later) but somehow the info got relayed, and I was notified it was fixed.'

'The support was fantastic and proactively assessed, trouble-shot the problem, and provided the solution. It worked!!!'

In addition to regularly polling customer satisfaction scores, Insight has incorporated a community portal to its software, the first company of its kind to do so. Insight's Community Portal empowers teams to connect with Insight's support team, share best practices with financial industry peers and ultimately provide valuable financial insight to their businesses like never before.

'These types of innovative approaches to customer service are what makes Insight support really stand out,' continued Tinucci. 'We make support available to customers on their terms, not ours.'

About InsightSoftware.com
InsightSoftware.com provides hassle-free reporting solutions to Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards users. Their solutions help companies address changing business challenges and are installed in hours, providing an immediate ROI. With over 650 customers and 45,000 users, InsightSoftware.com solutions are enabling end users to deliver answers to business-critical questions in minutes. www.insightsoftware.com.

Oracle, Oracle E-Business Suite, and JD Edwards are registered trademarks of Oracle Corporation and/or its affiliates.

Espoo, Finland

Sign Memorandum of Understanding for developing the ecosystem

Nokia Siemens Networks and Intel signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a set of common objectives around the development of Liquid Applications, an innovative approach from Nokia Siemens Networks that will accelerate the delivery of media-rich services and content directly from the base station.

The intent of the collaboration is to accelerate development of an enhanced mobile broadband experience that gives operators new revenue and differentiation opportunities. Nokia Siemens Networks and Intel will collaborate in the creation of a mobile edge computing ecosystem, focusing on over-the-top (OTT) content providers, independent software vendors (ISV) and application service providers (ASP). The parties will also explore new business models between mobile operators and other ecosystem players, facilitating engagements with the purpose of delivering a superior and profitable customer experience.

'Mobile operators have an extensive network of base stations in numerous locations. Placing applications and services in the base station will turn the base station into an intelligent part of a mobile operator's network, to serve and deliver local content. Other content providers in the ecosystem can also benefit from the proximity of applications to mobile users', said Dirk Lindemeier, head of Liquid Net at Nokia Siemens Networks. 'We are excited to collaborate with Intel and further develop our Liquid Applications platform. We are also looking forward to engaging with the wider ecosystem to encourage the development of new applications that connect mobile subscribers with local points-of-interest, businesses and events.'

At the heart of Liquid Applications is the Radio Applications Cloud Server (RACS), which provides capabilities such as localized processing, content storage, and access to real-time radio and network information inside the base station. RACS utilizes Intel's Crystal Forest Platform, which was specifically developed for the communications infrastructure market and is powered by low-power Intel® Xeon processors. The small footprint and exceptional energy efficiency of the platform support integration into non-standard environments and small form factor mobile base stations, while also providing the performance needed to handle more extensive localized processing.

'Nokia Siemens Networks and Intel are working closely together to merge key IT advancements and telecommunication applications in a way that yields a state-of-the-art mobile edge computing solution. The RACS includes Intel® architecture that is widely used by application service providers and enterprise cloud implementations globally,' said Steve Price, general manager of Intel's Communications Infrastructure Division. 'Operators can now extend the applications and services cloud all the way out to the base station and thus offer an enhanced and unmatched mobile broadband experience.'

More information on the topic is available in a joint Nokia Siemens Networks and Intel technical brief Increasing Mobile Operators' Value Proposition with Edge Computing (PDF).

In particular, Mantis takes a step forward by uniquely meeting today's EMC emission limits at 500 kbps without requiring a common-mode choke – and with a choke, these same limits can be met at data rates of 2 Mbps in CAN FD networks. In addition, the devices' bus pins are tolerant to ±42 V, and ESD meets automotive requirements of 6 kV (IEC-61004-2) with typical standby currents of 10 µA.

'Mantis is designed as a best-in-class HS-CAN transceiver for standard automotive applications, both now and in the future. We continue to raise the bar in the industry,' said Toni Versluijs, vice president and general manager, in-vehicle networking business, NXP Semiconductors. 'As the industry continues to innovate to extract more from traditional CAN networks, Mantis GT addresses many of the concerns around CAN FD. With this product, NXP has shown that it's possible to also achieve excellent EMC performance at speeds of 2 Mbps and beyond, representing a major validation of the CAN FD standard.'

Mantis GT also introduces loop delay symmetry, a new parameter which guarantees the integrity of CAN communication is preserved at higher speeds, resulting in a transceiver that is optimized for data rates of 2 Mbps and over. This is an important development for the industry's adoption of CAN FD, which depends on semiconductor solutions being able to support CAN communication at higher speeds.
Features

Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, today announced that Thai Global Network (TGN), Thailand's first and only satellite TV broadcasting center, has chosen H...

Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, today announced that Thai Global Network (TGN), Thailand's first and only satellite TV broadcasting center, has chosen Harmonic production and playout solutions. TGN has built a seamless workflow, from acquisition to transmission, on a Harmonic media storage, asset management and playout server platform. Installed along with an MXFserver production management system from FilmPartners, the solution has enabled TGN to optimize and streamline its broadcast operations from end to end.

'By implementing tightly integrated solutions from Harmonic and FilmPartners, we have created a highly efficient collaborative editing environment with content stored sitting at the center of the workflow,' said Col. Sarawut Karbdecho, director at Thai TV Global Network. 'In day-to-day operations, this powerful pairing enables us to produce and deliver content with much greater speed and flexibility.'

TGN has installed Harmonic Spectrum™ MediaCenter™ media servers, the MediaGrid 3000 shared storage system, the Media Application Server (MAS) asset management platform with ProXplore™, and the ProDrive™ media server controller software. Used as an ingest server, the MediaCenter records VTR feeds under the control of ProDrive, which allows operators to capture content automatically according to a schedule or instantly specify a channel with the application's crash-record feature.

As feeds are recorded, the Harmonic ProXplore launches the transfer of growing files in the MediaCenter server system over to the MediaGrid 3000 shared storage system, which supports TGN staff working on Avid nonlinear edit systems. MXFserver enables file sharing and project sharing across multiple Avid editors. The FilmPartners' system makes it easy for editors, graphic artists, producers and other users to find the materials they need for both private and collaborative projects.

Finished projects are exported, at which point ProXplore automatically transfers files to a second MediaCenter server dedicated to playout. ProDrive software allows TGN staff to create scheduled playlists and to control the server's playout operations.

'The Harmonic media storage, asset management and server systems installed by TGN enable a very efficient file-based workflow, with the benefit of optimized file transfers over a Gigabit Ethernet network,' said Andrew Thornton, vice president of Asia-Pacific sales at Harmonic. 'Bringing speed, reliability, and flexibility to TGN's operations, Harmonic transforms the broadcaster's ability to create and deliver timely and compelling content.'

IDC Examines the Impact of the 3rd Platform on Software Business Models and the Building Customer Revolution

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The 3rd Platform, with cloud at its core, will serve as the primary growth driver of the information and communications technology (ICT) industry over the next decade, responsible ...

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The 3rd Platform, with cloud at its core, will serve as the primary growth driver of the information and communications technology (ICT) industry over the next decade, responsible for 75% of new growth as worldwide ICT spending moves from $3.7 trillion in 2013 to more than $5 trillion in 2020, according to International Data Corporation (IDC) research. The proliferation of 3rd Platform solutions – and new customer expectations – is rapidly disrupting software business models, changing them forever.

"The 3rd Platform is not just a technology revolution; it's also a customer revolution. As a result, expect the rise of new software business models that align more closely with business outcomes and customers' experiences," said Amy Konary, Research Vice President for Software Licensing, Provisioning, and Delivery. "Customers should expect to see models that enable access to and consumption of applications when and where they want. Pricing will scale up or down according to consumption or need, allowing customers to pay only for what they use."

Additional IDC analysis shows:

The 3rd Platform makes possible a broad proliferation of two important, value-generating overlays – big data analytics and social technologies.

Most net-new commercial applications – as much as 82%, according to IDC – are being built specifically for cloud delivery in 2013. By 2016, nearly $1 of every $6 spent on packaged software and $1 of every $5 spent on applications will be consumed via the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.

Customers want access to positive outcomes, and subscription pricing has proven to be a better means of facilitating this access than the perpetual license model.

Start-ups aren't the only ones offering subscription license models – 16% of the top 100 software vendors have more than 50% of their revenue coming from subscription and virtually all software vendors are at various stages in a seminal transition in how they build, sell, and deliver their products as services hoping to generate more revenue and improve customer satisfaction.

"Disruption rarely, if ever, leads to wholesale replacement," cautions Konary. "IDC believes that while packaged software applications are being slowly re-platformed for virtualized use on converged systems in datacenters, they will be available for distributed client/server computing environments (the 2nd Platform), and they will be priced and licensed accordingly. These applications will just become less interesting than they once were, as software developers shift innovation to where the growth opportunity exists – the 3rd Platform."

The IDC report, The Coming of the 3rd Platform and What This Means for Software Business Models (IDC #240918) focuses on the rise of the 3rd Platform and the ways in which software business models will change as a result. Advice to customers on the pricing and licensing of software-based applications and services is provided.

Clear Channel Outdoor Advances Audience-Based Selling with Rollout of Consumer Networks

Innovation enables advertisers and agencies to more easily buy solutions based on key demographics

New York, NY – – Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings (NYSE: CCO) today announced the rollout of consumer networks, a portfolio of pre-selected out-of-home advertising products that helps streamline the media purchasing process and gives advertisers a more effective way to engage their key audiences.

The company's new consumer networks offer advertisers and agencies a simpler and easier buying process, supported by Traffic Audit Bureau (TAB) ratings that they can plug into demographic-specific advertising models. As a result, advertisers and agencies will have an effective solution that eliminates the need to build the out-of-home component of their campaigns by selecting individual outdoor assets among hundreds of thousands of local and national options.

The new consumer networks, accompanied by out-of-home ratings, are delivered in a format consistent with other major media (TV, radio, print) and offer compatible buying metrics, making it easier to assess the value of out-of-home as part of a comprehensive media plan. By combining demographic targeting with psychographic geo-targeting, Clear Channel Outdoor's consumer networks can offer enhanced audience metrics and ensure that out-of-home campaigns deliver the greatest exposure to a client's target audience -- allowing planners to maximize the effectiveness of their media budget.

'Our consumer networks represent a significant innovation in the delivery of key audiences when they are out of home, and much more is coming from Clear Channel Outdoor as we work to evolve our audience delivery to benefit advertisers,' said Suzanne Grimes, president and chief operating officer of Clear Channel Outdoor – North America. 'With other media facing steep challenges brought on by technology disruption and audience fragmentation, out-of-home is well positioned to maintain or increase advertiser's audience reach and win additional share of their mix. The key is to make buying audiences easier, and we are laser focused on continuing innovation in audience delivery and measurement.'

At launch, the new consumer networks comprise targeted portfolios for several pre-selected demographic groups which range by market including Hispanics, African Americans, women or men between the ages of 18 to 49, adults 18 to 34, and affluent consumers with income greater than $75,000, $100,000 and $150,000 annually.

'The results we're seeing from the industry's investment in the TAB ratings will multiply as we combine measurement innovation with selling innovation,' said Rocky Sisson, chief revenue officer of Clear Channel Outdoor – North America. 'The consumer networks we've built deliver valuable audiences that advertisers want, and this approach is already paying off as major national advertisers have shifted dollars, with confidence, to out-of-home in order effectively attain their campaign goals.'

Following Clear Channel Outdoor's successful piloting of the demographic networks in three markets in 2012, seven markets are in various stages of deployment, including Albuquerque, Cleveland, Orlando, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Seattle.

'The development of demographic networks is a very positive step for Clear Channel and necessary direction for the OOH marketplace,' said Connie Garrido, chief executive officer of Posterscope. 'To be able to deliver audiences on a deeper level provides tangible value to assist in optimizing the delivery of a program. We look forward to working with Clear Channel Outdoor to leverage these networks in our planning process and to seeing how CCO continues to build on the networks moving forward.'

Telefónica Named A Global Leader in M2M

2013 benchmarks by Analysys Mason and Machina Research both place Telefónica as a global leader in the provision of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications services.

Telefónica Digital has been highlighted as a global leader in M2M Communication Service Provision (CSP) by two separate analyst houses. Analysys Mason, in their 2013 M2M Scorecard, placed Telefónica in the 'Industry Icons' category. While in their annual benchmarking study, Machina Research noted that 'Telefónica is the company that has done most during the last 12 months to strengthen its position in M2M'.

The analysts' research is a strong endorsement of the steps and investments Telefónica has made to bolster its global M2M capabilities. This includes taking a lead role in creating a multi-operator alliance which now includes eight leading mobile operator groups. It reflects the development of in-house platforms, such as its Smart M2M platform, as well as forming the right partnerships to operate in both the horizontal connectivity and vertical value added services markets.

Analysys Mason's 2013 M2M CSP Scorecard ranks providers in one of four categories: Industry Icons, Trailing Titans, Challenged Underdogs and Niche Notables. The Industry Icons category, in which Telefónica was placed, are those companies that dominate the M2M market, have the largest M2M business and the best capacity to co-ordinate their teams, network, partnerships, strategy and R&D. In the case of Telefónica, Analysys Mason highlighted its centralised structure and partnership philosophy*.

In their 2013 M2M CSP Benchmarking Study, Machina Research compared six key areas: Pedigree, Platform, Place, Partnerships, Process and People. Based on ratings across each of these areas, Machina Research identified a clear top tier of four CSP global leaders, of which Telefónica was one. Machina particularly praised Telefónica for its excellent coverage of Latin America and good coverage in Europe, strategic alliances, strong R&D capabilities and multi-carrier IMSI swapping arrangements.

The two firms were not the only ones to highlight Telefónica's progress in the past year. In its annual M2M Roundup report, Current Analysis states that Telefonica has worked hard to develop solutions that go beyond connectivity sales. It is increasingly involved in value-added services and end-to-end integration, especially in e-health, financial services, and security, where it has dedicated practices. It has also developed end-to-end solutions in fleet management, asset tracking, point of sale, usage-based insurance, 'smart taxis,' consumer electronics devices with multiple payment models, and a smart meter-reading platform for utilities.

'All three reports reflect the strong momentum we have in our M2M business,' said Carlos Morales, Director of M2M and Cloud at Telefónica Digital. 'They are also a great endorsement of our approach to this market, combining our excellent R&D capabilities with the right alliances and partnerships to meet the needs of a wide variety of customers.'

Commenting on Machina's findings, the author Matt Hatton said, 'Telefonica has every reason to be very proud this year. It has had a great year in M2M. The lead role it played in the multi-operator alliance, strategic arrangements with the likes of Telit and Masternaut, and a move up the value chain into products such as usage-based insurance all helped to persuade us that Telefonica deserved a place as one of the top tier of global M2M CSPs.'

Steve Hilton at Analysys Mason said, 'we ranked Telefónica as an Industry Icon having created a strong set of partnerships and having a fairly high level of commitment from these partners. We also believe the creation of Telefónica Digital has given it the right organisational structure with a dedicated M2M services team.'

Kathryn Weldon at Current Analysis notes that Telefonica has'shown innovation and focus, with many end-to-end solutions and integration services capabilities that are key to the growth of the market'.

• User experience of Wi-Fi moves beyond "best effort" through seamless integration with mobile networks
• Ericsson's industry-first, real-time traffic steering dynamically optimizes operator network resources
• New, high-performance indoor Wi-Fi, cloud controller options and integrated mobile broadband management strengthen Ericsson's heterogeneous networks differentiation

A smooth and seamless integration of Wi-Fi access is an increasingly important part of any mobile broadband service. Most smartphone users have experienced the frustration of being automatically connected to a Wi-Fi network only to face a noticeably slower connection speed.

To ensure users always get the best connection, Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) today announces its 3GPP compliant Wi-Fi network access, control and management solutions. These enable mobile operators to easily incorporate Wi-Fi in their heterogeneous network strategy, while delivering a consistently high-performance user experience, even in high traffic areas. Incorporating Wi-Fi is a key focus of tier-one mobile operators.

Daryl Schoolar, Principal Analyst, Network Infrastructure at Ovum, said: "Ericsson has clearly differentiated its carrier Wi-Fi solution through tighter integration with mobile operator's 3GPP access, control and network management. This approach should yield a better end-user experience by preventing some of Wi-Fi's well-known bad habits from being imposed upon users. At the same time, operators should welcome the tight integration of Wi-Fi and mobile, as exemplified by Ericsson's solution, thanks to the benefits derived from improving network resource optimization and ease in implementing and delivering Wi-Fi service offerings."

Key to the user experience is an Ericsson industry-first feature that automatically selects the best connection: real-time traffic steering. Ericsson's real-time traffic steering is a software upgrade that constantly assesses key performance indicators in both the mobile 3GPP network and the Wi-Fi network before dynamically and seamlessly shifting the consumer's smartphone connection between networks. This ensures the best user experience and optimizes network resources. Real-time traffic steering is a network-driven feature requiring no user intervention or additional device software. Ericsson also now supports access selection, a self-optimizing network (SON) feature enabling load-balancing between Wi-Fi and 3GPP networks to optimize the average user experience.

Thomas Noren, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio, Ericsson, says: "Heterogeneous network strategies among leading mobile operators are focused on delivering a great mobile broadband experience to their customers, wherever they are. By coordinating licensed small cells with the macro cell, as we announced earlier this year, and intelligently integrating Wi-Fi and 3GPP throughout the network, we're providing operators with the most effective way to deliver consistently high performance consumer connections."

With indoor areas increasingly prone to mobile network congestion, Ericsson has also developed the first 802.11ac access point designed to enable mobile operators to deliver supplemental small cell or standalone Wi-Fi coverage indoors. The 802.11ac standard is common on tablets and increasingly prevalent on smartphones.

Two new cloud-controller options, both featuring 3GPP-standard interfaces to the mobile core, make it easier and more cost-efficient for operators to add Wi-Fi to their existing mobile services. The Ericsson Evo Controller now features a Wi-Fi controller blade, the WIC 8030. A new standalone controller, the WIC 8100, supports up to 10,000 access points and 500,000 concurrent subscribers, allowing operators to consolidate multiple Wi-Fi networks from a centralized location in a cost-efficient way.

Ericsson is also introducing integrated management of Wi-Fi and 3GPP networks on a common platform, simplifying operations and reducing network costs.

These new Wi-Fi 3GPP integration products and features provide complementary and incremental benefits to emerging industry standard features that Ericsson supports, including: Access Network Discovery and Selection Function (ANDSF), IP session mobility (also referred to as IP address preservation) and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint(TM) (based on the Wi-Fi Alliance Hotspot 2.0 Specification). Ericsson also offers Wi-Fi 3GPP integration solutions to optimize the user experience for operators targeting residential Wi-Fi coverage. At MWC 2013, Ericsson announced a new Wi-Fi Gateway application on the Smart Services Router (SSR) which also supports integration of Wi-Fi networks with mobile broadband infrastructure.

Belfast, 21 May, 2013 – Leader in phone and mobile customer service, SpeechStorm, today announces the general availability of the latest release of its Interactive Voice Response (IVR) application, code-named 'Hitchcock'. The main feature of the new version is the introduction SpeechStorm Personas, which enables customers to have different experiences of call centre IVR and self-service, depending on their profile, behaviour, or preference.

When calling a bank to check a balance or make a payment, for example, frequent callers can be presented with shortened menu prompts, enabling them to proceed more quickly through the options. First-time callers, on the other hand, will hear menus and options with more explanation and guidance on how to use the IVR.

SpeechStorm Personas can also be used to present alternative voices, or personalities, for the IVR depending on brand or target market - male or female, casual and friendly as opposed to more formal, or in a different language. So, a telecoms operator or retailer might use a different voice for a youth-oriented customer segment than for its business customers, or use exactly the same applications in English, French, Spanish or German in different regions. This results in more engaging, effective and enjoyable customer experiences, as well as major savings on development and maintenance of applications.

Using SpeechStorm, new Personas are created and tested through an intuitive business user interface, enabling customer experience teams to work directly on defining the words and phrases that will best engage the target customer. SpeechStorm Personas can also be used to drive further personalization, including special messages, options or offers that only apply to that particular profile. Once complete, the new Persona can be deployed in an instant, with no interruption to service.

'SpeechStorm Personas opens up a range of possibilities for organizations and their customers, many of whom have struggled with the limitations of a one-size-fits-all approach,' enthuses Oliver Lennon, co-founder and CEO of SpeechStorm. 'In a world where customers are increasingly frustrated with tedious, poorly designed call centre menu systems, engaging them in a way that responds to their specific needs will both surprise and delight them, and set your brand apart from the competition. A number of organizations already use our software to deliver services in multiple languages and for different sub-brands, so we're really excited to see what they and others do given even greater scope for personalization. '

Other enhancements are also included in the Hitchcock release, which has already been made available to customers on SpeechStorm's Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. Among these are question-level thresholds for customer experience monitoring, automatic alerting and improved management of historic data and extensions to the company's mobile applications capability.

Lennon comments, 'Hitchcock is the first of our planned 2013 releases, building on the success of more than 100 individual advances in our three 2012 releases. We are constantly extending and improving our technology based on customer feedback, innovations from our team and our assessment of where the market for customer service applications is going - or where we think it needs to go - to make everyday tasks easier ... and a bit friendlier, too!'

-ends-

CORNING – Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today unveiled the first all-optical, converged in-building wireless solution to satisfy the increasing demand from enterprises, hotels, convention centers, and arenas for high-speed, high-capacity wireless hubs with virtually unlimited bandwidth.

Built on a high-performance optical backbone, the Corning ONE™ Wireless Platform is designed to handle core cellular technologies and enable multiple applications, including wireless LAN, public safety and location-based services. In addition, Corning ONE Wireless Platform offers Wi-Fi support through its built-in Gigabit Ethernet and Power over Ethernet capability.

Corning ONE Wireless Platform leverages fiber-to-the-edge technology to deliver more bandwidth, more operators, more services, and more applications via fiber links to an integrated, modular single-input, single-output/multiple-input, multiple-output (SISO/MIMO) antenna. The platform's remote antenna units offer upgradable expansion modules for MIMO in a single antenna, allowing for future additions of active spectrum.

With the proliferation of smartphones and other devices, current networks cannot keep pace with the demand. The need exists for a new generation of easily installed, reliable and environmentally sensitive fiber optic networking technology that can meet the demands of today's users and anticipate those of the evolving mobile era.

'The wireless needs of the modern organization – be they a large enterprise, an educational institution, or a hotel and convention center – are changing faster than traditional technology approaches can manage,' said Mike O'Day, vice president, Wireless Networks with Corning. 'The ONE Wireless Platform combines all of these distinct connectivity needs into a single, unified infrastructure. The platform not only meets the demands of today, but also includes a modular design that provides the scalability required to support future services and applications.'

Station Casinos, a premier gaming, hotel, and entertainment company operating in and around the Las Vegas area, turned to Corning and its new ONE Wireless Platform to provide the best possible wireless service to staff and guests.

As the owner and operator of nine major hotel/casinos, including premier venues like Red Rock Resort and Green Valley Ranch Resort, Stations' technicians understand the challenge of providing mass-demand cellular and Wi-Fi coverage. But they needed more. CIO Abe Hong called on Corning and the distribution channel, Anixter, for a leg up in the hyper-competitive gaming and hospitality market.

"The Corning ONE™ Wireless Platform offers virtually unlimited bandwidth on which to deliver cellular and Wi-Fi right to the access point.' Hong said. 'The converged, modular, and all-optical infrastructure will give us the capabilities we need today with the flexibility to expand in the future. Moreover, my team saw significant savings on equipment, space, and cabling when we extended our Wi-Fi upgrade over the platform. We are excited to be rolling out this new platform to Red Rock and other properties to provide our guests and staff unparalleled wireless services.'

With the launch of the Corning ONE Wireless Platform, Corning's distributed antenna system portfolio expands beyond traditional DAS, supporting nearly every connectivity need from lower power, cost-effective deployments inherent in small office buildings to the massive bandwidth and coverage needs of public venues such as convention centers and stadiums.

Sky was last night recognised at the prestigious Guardian Sustainable Business Awards, with Sky's Bigger Picture initiative taking the award for 'Communicating Sustainability.'

The Awards celebrate leading innovation and impact in corporate sustainability, with this particular category recognising British businesses that make a big difference through campaigns that take sustainability to the masses. The judges praised the breadth of the communications that make up the Bigger Picture initiatives - which operate across the arts, the environment, sport and in schools - particularly noting the 'transformative potential of Sky's work' in sustainability.

Sky focuses on four areas where it believes it can make a difference and can inspire people to take action. These are helping to tackle climate change, improving lives through sport, opening up the arts to more people and raising the aspirations of young people. Amongst its successes to date, Sky's partnership with British Cycling has inspired more than one million people to cycle regularly, while its partnership with the WWF through Sky Rainforest Rescue has raised over £6 million to help save one billion trees in the Amazon.

Graham McWilliam, Sky's Group Director of Corporate Affairs, comments: 'Sky is committed to playing a positive role in the communities in which we live and work. We're therefore delighted that the Bigger Picture has been recognised with this prestigious award. Whether it's getting people active through sport, helping them take action to tackle climate change or immersing themselves in the arts, the Bigger Picture makes a positive contribution to life across the UK & Ireland. We look forward to continuing to make a difference.'

Bella Vuillermoz, Director of the Bigger Picture, received the award from Jo Confino, Chair of Guardian Sustainable Business, at the awards ceremony at the Royal Institute of Architects in London on Thursday 16th May 2013.

Media representatives are invited to the inauguration of ESA's Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre at ESRIN (Frascati, Italy). This is the second centre to be opened under the Agency's Space Situational Awareness programme after the Space Weather Coordination Centre that was inaugurated in Brussels last month.

The Near-Earth Object Coordination Centre (NEO-CC) of ESA will serve as the central access point to a network of European NEO data sources and information providers being established under ESA's Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Programme.

NEOs are asteroids or comets with sizes ranging from metres to tens of kilometres that orbit the Sun and whose orbits come close to that of Earth. There are over 600 000 asteroids known in our Solar System, and almost 10 000 of them are NEOs.

The Centre will support experts in the field by federating new and existing European assets, systems and sensors into a future NEO system. It will support the integration and initial operation of ESA's NEO information distribution network.

The Centre will also serve as the focus point for scientific studies needed to improve NEO warning services and provide near-realtime data to European and international customers, including scientific bodies, international organisations and decision-makers.

The media briefing will be held at ESRIN, ESA's centre for Earth observation in Frascati, near Rome, on 22 May 2013.

Doors open at 14:30 CEST (12:30 GMT).

Small group visits to NEO Coordination Centre
About the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe's gateway to space.

ESA is an intergovernmental organisation, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

ESA has 20 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, of whom 18 are Member States of the EU.

ESA has Cooperation Agreements with eight other Member States of the EU and is discussing an Agreement with the one remaining (Bulgaria). Canada takes part in some ESA programmes under a Cooperation Agreement.

ESA is also working with the EU on implementing the Galileo and Copernicus programmes.

By coordinating the financial and intellectual resources of its members, ESA can undertake programmes and activities far beyond the scope of any single European country.

ESA develops the launchers, spacecraft and ground facilities needed to keep Europe at the forefront of global space activities.

Today, it launches satellites for Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications and astronomy, sends probes to the far reaches of the Solar System and cooperates in the human exploration of space.
