     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Fraunhofer IIS&#39;s GoalRef&#8482; goal-line technology will be used at the Copa Amsterdam soccer tournament from May 18 to May 20, 2013, to guarantee correct goal-line decisions. GoalRef&#8482; uses magnetic fields to reliably determine whether the ball has completely crossed the goal line. To this end, the system will be installed at Amsterdam&#39;s Olympic Stadium and used for all 18 games. The Copa Amsterdam will be contested by the world&#39;s best under-19 club teams, including Ajax Amsterdam and Borussia Moenchengladbach.</p>

<p>GoalRef&#8482; has been one FIFA&#39;s preferred goal-line technologies since the FIFA Club World Cup took place in Japan in late 2012. An international audience witnessed the system successfully passing its first big test under real-world competitive conditions. For instance, during the final in Yokohama between Chelsea F.C. and Sao Paulo&#39;s Corinthians, GoalRef&#8482; helped to quickly clear up a confusing situation in front of the Brazilian team&#39;s goal: Despite not having a clear view of the ball, the referee had no hesitation in allowing play to continue as his wristwatch had not received a &#39;Goal&#39; signal.</p>

<p>The Fraunhofer-developed goal-line technology uses a low-intensity magnetic field that is created by antennas attached to the goalposts and crossbar. As soon as the ball travels through the magnetic field created above the goal line, a signal is sent to the referee&#39;s watch, allowing them to decide immediately whether or not a goal has been scored.</p>

<p>The system is easy and inexpensive to install at any soccer stadium. Apart from the antennas attached to the goal frames, all that is needed is a special ball. Embedded in the ball are coils that are able to trigger antenna signals and require no power supply. The Derbystar ball has been developed by Danish company Select and Fraunhofer IIS for use with GoalRef&#8482; at the Copa Amsterdam.<br /> </p>

     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Munich/Scarperia. The classic Mini is a legend on four wheels, and its fans are loyal and love to travel. This year they will be getting together in the northern Italian province of Mugello for the 2013 International Mini Meeting (IMM). A tradition-steeped event held first in 1978 and then at a different venue each year ever since, the IMM is the world&#39;s biggest meeting of the Mini club scene. The event grounds in Scarperia, north of Florence and near the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, will be the meeting venue for classic Mini fans from May 16th to 19th 2013.</p>

<p>The program has been compiled by the hosts to entertain the worldwide community and features live concerts, automobile exhibitions, competitions, joint excursions and lots of party action. The IMM 2013 also reflects the fascinating history of this unique British car, and its diversity will be impressively documented by the fleet of participants&#39; own cars. Nowhere else do so many representatives of different sections of the brand&#39;s history assemble: from lovingly maintained classics dating back to the early years through to the very latest individually styled MINI models.</p>

<p>A revolutionary space concept, classless style and fascinatingly agile handling were what gave the classic Mini its exceptional status on the international automobile markets from the very beginning. These fundamental qualities were reproduced in all the numerous model versions created back in the 1960s, accounting for the enormous popularity of the classic Mini to this day and revived in modern form for the 21st century in the new MINI. This is one reason why fans and drivers of the new MINI have been part of the IMM community for many years.</p>

<p>So in Mugello, too, there will be brand new MINI models produced in 2013 parked alongside the Morris Mini Minor and the Austin Seven. The MINI Clubman will meet its ancestor, the Morris Mini Traveller. And the Mini Cooper S from the 1960s - once the base model for the cars that won the Monte Carlo rally - will measure up against today&#39;s top sports model, the MINI John Cooper Works. And because the IMM is a true family get-together, even the less well-known relatives will be in on the act: these include the Wolseley Hornet and the Riley Elf, elegantly fitted small cars which transferred the genes of the classic Mini to two other British Motor Corporation brands, likewise in the 1960s.</p>

<p>In deference to the host country, an Innocenti Mini Parade will take place on the Mugello race track. Based on the British original in terms of technology and initially in its external design, too, the Italian version of the car was produced in Milan from 1965. The last of these came off the production line 20 years ago, having undergone several revisions in the meantime.</p>

<p>IMM weekend activities also include a parts market, presentations by Mini clubs from various countries, slalom and drift competitions and test drives in current MINI models. There will also be excursions to Pisa, Siena and Florence, either by bus or in a Mini convoy subject to limited participant numbers. The most attractive and lovingly restored automobiles from all eras of the brand&#39;s history will be presented in an exhibition area specially reserved for the Mini Contest. In 2013 the MINI Challenge continues to evolve with its first visit to the amazing Dutch seaside circuit at Zandvoort and with new look Cooper class cars, boasting MINI Challenge aero kit.</p>

<p>The Cooper Class also enjoys a substantial prize for the class winner, in the form of a subsidized John Cooper Works class drive in 2014, worth over &#163;16,000 with other prizes for race winners and Driver of the Day. <p>Nike&#39;s We Own The Night run series kicks off May 18 in London&#39;s Victoria Park, uniting thousands of female runners in a celebration of sport, style, design and culture. We Own the Night (WOTN) will create a festival atmosphere in the streets of Europe&#39;s capitals &#8212; London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and Milan &#8212; with live music and DJs, light shows and after-parties.</p>

<p>Each city 10K will serve up a unique experience that speaks to the respective city&#39;s character and energy. Nike athletes and influential personalities from the worlds of music, fashion, film and TV will join race participants in each locale.</p>

<p>WOTN participants took part in six-week personalized training programs combining physical and digital experiences leading up to the races. The journey included invites to VIP Nike Training Club classes at locations such as the SoHo House rooftop in Berlin to Paris&#39;s beautiful Jardin D&#39;acclimatation. To inspire registrants&#39; training journey, Nike treated them to boutique shopping celebrations with expert fitness and style consultants, and run club sessions hosted by celebrities such as platinum-selling pop star and runner Ellie Goulding.</p>

<p>In East London, the city&#39;s epicenter of emerging street style and culture, the series will kick off with a race full of vibrant color and music. The Henry Holland-designed race packs have secured the designer a rare male entry to the event; but Holland will face stiff competition at the starting line from marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe. DJs Gemma Cairney and DJ Neev will keep energy high with a curated mix of London&#39;s emerging music tracks as runners cruise through Victoria Park.</p>

<p>Amsterdam</p>

<p>The party continues the following night in Amsterdam. DJs will help create an exhilarating atmosphere to keep runners moving through the twists and turns of fluorescent-lit Westerpark. International singer Eva Simons hits the run fresh from the Beyonce tour, joining the WOTN pack on the Catwalk for their moment of running fame.      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The delivery of the Arena de Sao Paulo, venue of the opening match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup&#8482;, has been confirmed for 31 December 2013. This was agreed in a very constructive meeting between FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, Andres Sanchez, Corinthians representative in charge of the stadium, the CEO and president of the construction company Odebrecht, Benedicto B. da Silva; as well as Ricardo Trade, CEO of the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The meeting took place this Wednesday (15 May 2013) at the offices of the LOC in Riocentro.</p>

<p>&#34;We are very satisfied with the meeting and with the fact that we could talk face to face. Sao Paulo will be an example for other cities to deliver the stadium in time, by 31 December. The discussion with Corinthians was very fruitful since we understand we both want the same goal, to have the stadium ready,&#39; said FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, who added &#39;It is also a special project because of the legacy it leaves for the east zone of Sao Paulo.&#39;</p>

<p>&#39;This was an excellent meeting. There was some misunderstanding but Sao Paulo and Corinthians are aware of their responsibilities. I have always been sure that we would host the opening game of the FIFA 2014 World Cup and now I am even more. The schedule agreed with FIFA will be respected,&#39; said Corinthians representative Andres Sanchez.</p>

<p>Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its decision to participate in the FIA Formula One (F1) World Championship from the 2015 season under a joint project with McLaren, the UK-based F1 corporation.</p>

<p>Honda will be in charge of the development, manufacture and supply of the power unit, including the engine and energy recovery system, while McLaren will be in charge of the development and manufacture of the chassis, as well as the management of the new team, McLaren Honda.</p>

<p>From 2014, new F1 regulations require the introduction of a 1.6 litre direct injection turbocharged V6 engine with energy recovery systems. The opportunity to further develop these powertrain technologies through the challenge of racing is central to Honda&#39;s decision to participate in F1. Throughout its history, Honda has passionately pursued improvements in the efficiency of the internal combustion engine and in more recent years, the development of pioneering energy management technologies such as hybrid systems. Participation in Formula 1 under these new regulations will encourage even further technological progress in both these areas. Furthermore, a new generation of Honda engineers can learn the challenges and the thrills of operating at the pinnacle of motorsport.</p>

     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Saturday, May 25, 2013, the 11th annual Lively Dragon Boat Race will be held in Milton at Kelso Conservation Area (5234 Kelso Road) to raise funds for the residents of Halton Region&#39;s Allendale long-term care home and adult day programs (Silver Creek Place in Georgetown and Milton Place and Friends Landing in Milton). Hosted by Lively Dragon, a dragon boat racing club that organizes boat races to raise funds for charities, the event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will feature a barbeque, family activities, and dragon boat races.</p>

<p>&#39;The Allendale long-term care home and our adult day programs help to enrich the lives of seniors in the Halton community by providing them with safe and quality services,&#39; said Regional Chair Gary Carr. &#39;The proceeds from this event will be used to help support these programs to ensure that our residents continue to receive the highest possible quality of care.&#39;</p>

     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Football legend Rio Ferdinand has signed a three-year deal with BT Sport to support the channel as an interviewer, programme-maker and football expert. Rio, 34, who has played 81 times so far for England, has agreed to carry out various roles for BT Sport, including making football and lifestyle programmes and conducting his own big name interviews as he does for his #5 magazine. He will also be acting as a football expert.</p>

<p>The Manchester United centre-half, who was last week named in the PFA Team of the Year 2012-13 in a poll of his fellow professionals, will also act as a BT Ambassador. Spurs star and PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale and England winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already been announced as fellow ambassadors.</p>

<p>Rio is founder of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, which offers education, training and employment support programmes in deprived communities. He is also Editor-in-Chief of his own digital magazine #5, which is a free lifestyle magazine. That position has allowed him the chance to conduct big name sporting interviews.</p>

<p>Rio, who has played 486 Premier League games in his career, will help BT to sign up customers for BT Sport, which will offer 38 exclusively live Barclays Premier League games, including 18 of the top pick matches, for three years from August 2013.</p>

<p>BT Sport has also secured the rights to live top tier matches from Serie A in Italy, Ligue 1 in France, Brasileiro in Brazil and Major League Soccer in the USA.<br />And BT&#39;s acquisition of ESPN&#39;s TV channels business in the UK and Ireland will bring the rights to show live games for the FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, Europa League and the German Bundesliga.</p>
