<p>Lufthansa is investing in innovative technologies that provide greater comfort for passengers. Just in time for the summer travelling season, passengers at Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg airports can now take advantage of the 39 baggage machines and drop off their luggage themselves. Passengers who have already received their boarding pass by checking in online, via a mobile device or at a check-in machine within 23 hours before departure can simply make their way to one of the baggage machines and send their luggage on its journey themselves without having to queue. Customers can then pass directly through security and go to their gate.</p>

<p>Here&#39;s how it works: To drop off luggage, it is placed on the belt and the barcode printed on the boarding pass is scanned. The baggage machine prints a self-adhesive luggage tag, which can be attached to the bags easily. The luggage is then transported by the machine to the airport&#39;s conveyor belts and the passenger receives a print-out of their receipt.</p>

<p>This service was tested in Munich and Frankfurt over a number of months last year. Due to the positive feedback from customers and the high level of use, this service has now been expanded. To date, Lufthansa passengers have already checked in more than 640,000 pieces of luggage via the machines.</p>

This arrangement will significantly improve the choice of beyond flights for Air France-KLM customers to Indian cities. The new codeshare arrangement is open for sales as of today and for travel on June 19, 2013.</p>

<p><br />Amstelveen, - -The codeshare agreement enables Air France to market flights under AF flight numbers to key Indian cities beyond Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. Customers travelling from Europe to India will now be able to connect seamlessly with one ticket to three new Indian domestic destinations operated by Jet Airways, to Chennai via Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai, as well as to Kolkata and Hyderabad via Mumbai and Bengaluru.</p>

<p>Likewise, KLM will place its marketing code (KL) on Jet Airways&#39; domestic flights to four major cities in India beyond Delhi, allowing customers to travel seamlessly to Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai via Delhi.</p>

<p>Jet Airways operates its domestic flights on state-of-the-art Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft as also the ATR 72 aircraft, with quieter, comfortable economy cabins. <p>LONDON &#8211; British Airways announced that its inaugural &#39;UnGrounded Innovation Lab in the Sky&#39; landed in London today, bringing an all-star line-up of innovators together from leading companies such as Google, IBM, Microsoft, LeanIn.org and IDEO.  The flight also featured venture firms like Innovation Endeavors and Andreessen Horowitz, as well as organizations such as Clinton Global Initiative to participate in the world&#39;s first innovation workshop held at 30,000 feet.</p>

<p>More than 130 Silicon Valley tech leaders took to the skies to collaborate, ideate and create concepts and solutions to global talent challenges impacting innovation, entrepreneurship and the economy around the world.</p>

<p>In just under five hours, this trailblazing group developed 22 concepts aimed to help people with STEM skills (science, technology, engineering, and math) find opportunities to utilize their talent and drive global innovation.</p>

<p>Flight participants explored the STEM challenge from four key angles &#8211; &#39;fostering women in STEM&#39;; &#39;expanding STEM&#39;; &#39;meeting U.S. demand for STEM talent&#39;; and &#39;growing local STEM opportunities in emerging economies.&#39;</p>

<p>Out of the 22 concepts developed on the flight, flight participants collectively selected one winner in each of the four exploration categories.  The winning concepts will be announced and presented by UnGrounded passengers to the United Nations ITU Committee at the DNA Summit in London on Friday, June 14.</p>

<p>The UnGrounded Experience</p>

<p>The UnGrounded in-flight experience was developed in collaboration with global design and innovation firm IDEO.  Together, British Airways and IDEO transformed a British Airways Boeing 747 into a highly collaborative and creative workspace in the sky.</p>

<p>Before boarding the flight in San Francisco passengers were addressed by California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, who reinforced the importance of the cause for local development. The innovators were then placed in groups and tasked with attacking the STEM challenge as part of a competitive team on board the flight.</p>

<p>Donning brightly colored hoodies designating their teams, flight passengers set right to work as the flight began its journey across the U.S. towards London.  For five hours, passengers filled the aisles of the airplane, keeping it abuzz with energy, as they brainstormed, debated, conceptualized, illustrated and ultimately co-created tangible ideas for &#39;hacking&#39; the STEM challenge.</p>

     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sydney, Australia, - - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Oscars Hotels have signed a franchise agreement for a 146-room Holiday Inn hotel at Warwick Farm in Sydney&#39;s south west. Oscars Hotels purchased the Sunnybrook Hotel in April 2011 and with this agreement will undertake a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of the guest rooms and restaurant, after which the hotel will reopen as Holiday Inn Warwick Farm on 10 September 2013.</p>

<p>Located at 355 Hume Highway Warwick Farm, the hotel is within easy access to a number of commercial and business park precincts and ideally positioned to meet the needs of the growing commercial and leisure based industries of south west Sydney.  The hotel facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, a tavern adjacent to the hotel with gaming facilities, gymnasium, a meetings and events centre, heated outdoor swimming pool and generous onsite parking.</p>

<p>Following the refurbishment of all guest rooms and the hotel restaurant, the gymnasium and swimming pool will be fully upgraded, as will the adjoining Oscars Tavern and the meeting and events centre (both due for completion in early 2014).</p>

<p>Warwick Farm is close to the suburbs of Liverpool, Chipping Norton, Cabramatta and Moorebank.  It&#39;s also central to leisure attractions such as Warwick Farm Racecourse and Warwick Farm Polo Fields.</p>

<p>The new Terminal 2 at London Heathrow Airport, the future home of Star Alliance at Britain&#39;s premier aviation hub, is to be known as &#39;Terminal 2: the Queen&#39;s Terminal&#39; in recognition of Queen Elizabeth II and marking her long association with the airport.</p>

<p>Britain&#39;s Queen, who this year celebrates the 60th anniversary of her coronation, also opened the former Terminal 2 building that once occupied the same site as the new purpose-built facility, which is due to start operations on June 4, 2014.  The announcement that the monarch has agreed to continue this close association with Heathrow and Terminal 2 comes on the eve of her official birthday, June 15.</p>

<p>NEW YORK CITY &#8211; Marriott International, Inc. has been honored with a Global Vision Award by Immigration Equality, a national organization fighting for equality under U.S. immigration law for LGBT and HIV-positive individuals.  The award was presented at Immigration Equality&#39;s 2013 Safe Haven Awards ceremony, and recognizes Marriott&#39;s impassioned advocacy in support of legislation that would provide same-sex couples full access to U.S. immigration benefits. </p>

<p>As part of the celebration, Starlight children with long-term illnesses were invited to VIP treatment at the New York Mets vs. the St. Louis Cardinals game, which included food, fun with the team&#39;s mascot, Mr. Met, and the honor of throwing out the first pitch.</p>

<p>Nine-year-old Ernesto Martinez from Yonkers, New York, who is a member of the program, threw a perfect strike down the middle! He was joined by eleven-year-old Ryan Heinzerling, of Greenwich, Conn., who comes from a family of long-time Starlight supporters. </p>

     <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>British Airways is once again partnering with Michelin star chef Simon Hulstone, to produce the menu for its Silent Picturehouse event &#8211; a pop-up cinema in London between 22-26 July.</p>

<p>Simon Hulstone from Devon, who produced the Olympic-inspired menu with Heston Blumenthal for millions of British Airways customers during the London 2012 Games, will once again bring his expertise to the event, this time creating a cinematic inspired menu.</p>

<p>It will include space-dust popcorn, lip-licking hot dogs with an all-American relish, and the best ever pick &#39;n&#39; mix with everyone&#39;s favourite retro sweets. Guests will also be treated to Taittinger Champagne, Hotel Chocolat treats and Union ice-cream, as well as cocktails inspired by the Silver Screen. Simon will also be creating speciality popcorn inspired by the movies, which will be revealed on the launch night</p>

<p>Chef Hulstone, who is also the Proprietor of The Elephant in Torquay, said: &#39;I&#39;m very excited to be working on this very cool and fun project. There&#39;s endless inspiration you can take from the movies, especially as cinema snacks are such a big part of the whole movie experience.&#39;</p>

<p>British Airways&#39; Silent Picturehouse brings the in-flight experience to life, offering guests Sennheiser headsets to tune in to travel inspired movies at night, and Disney movies for kids by day.
