Rippol Launches with Intelligent Video Discovery Engine

Rippol Helps Users Discover, Watch and Share Online Video Using Real-Time Social Network Interaction, Social Impact and Intelligent Learning Technology

San Francisco, Calif., Nov. 20, 2009 — Rippol™ today announced its company launch with an Intelligent Video Discovery Engine,™ leveraging the power of social impact and intelligent machine learning to enhance video discovery. Rippol was designed to help people discover, watch and share online video content in real-time, so that it's always easy to quickly find something good to watch.

Rippol enables users to stream video from sources all over the web including Revision3, Hulu, CNN, Fox, Amazon, MSNBC, Netflix, Joost, YouTube, Justin.TV, Last.Fm, MTV and other content providers. Users can filter, search or have tailored content suggestions selected for them by Rippol's Intelligent Discovery Engine.

Integration with other social networks including Facebook and Twitter enable users to chat, share links and suggest content to their extended social networks in real-time. A detachable HD video player enables users to pop the video window out of Rippol's site and position anywhere on their computer screen, with the ability to create video playlists, push content recommendations out to social networks and educate the system based on likes and dislikes.

The Problem – An Ocean of Content, What Should I watch?
Between the explosion of user-generated clips on YouTube, the major studios and networks making their content available online and the huge amount of professional content being developed specifically for the web, there is an endless amount of video to be consumed online. The problem is sifting through it all to find videos that you actually want to watch.
Currently, most online video content lies behind the walled gardens of each specific media company or content provider's site, requiring the web video viewer to visit several different web properties to find a certain show or genre of programming.
Google and Bing Video serve as good key word search tools if you know what you're looking for, but you won't find clever links to all content you personally want to watch. There are content providers out there like Netflix and Hulu that aggregate a massive amount of content. However it can be a major time sink for a person to find videos to watch if they don't know exactly what they'd like to see.
The current techniques used for sorting video based on parameters like 'most viewed' or 'recently added' provides a lack of consideration for individual tastes and preferences.

The Butterfly Effect Network™ – Social Discovery through Intelligent Learning
To address this problem, we've engineered Rippol as a tool that provides the crucial missing piece in the current online video landscape: an intelligent engine capable of providing a unique discovery experience for each individual viewer, rather than a homogeneous experience for all visitors to the site.
We observed that when people do watch a new TV show, movie or video clip, it's usually because a friend, family member or colleague either spoke about it, emailed it, tweeted about or posted a link or update on Facebook. We recognized that this power of social influence was one of the primary factors in driving people to step outside of the comfort zone of what they're familiar with and discover new content to watch.
'Rippol shifts the discovery experience so that instead of people seeking out content, now content finds the right people,' said Aaron Crayford, founder and CEO of Rippol. 'The Internet has enabled a new medium of interactive viewing, The Intervision, where it's all about the individual and what they personally want to watch. Rippol's Intelligent Discovery Engine analyzes the end user's social depth, the 3rd dimension that is found in The Intervision, to push content out to people based on what they like or would most likely want to be aware of.'
Rippol is unique in the content discovery space in that it uses advanced machine learning technology to process a huge amount of information about each specific end user in real-time. This system of proprietary real-time ranking algorithms is called The Butterfly Effect Network™.
Every video a user watches, rates and reviews affects The Butterfly Effect Network, which changes the order they and others connected to them see content in real-time. The Butterfly Effect Network cross references videos similar to what the user likes and has watched with the habits and opinions of their friends and demographics. Given that information, the network thinks about what the user might like best in that exact moment and then presents them with content ranked relative to their anticipated interests.
The Butterfly Effect Network helps users discover new content they might not otherwise know about and become more aware of the content that is being watched or discussed within their social circles. As users interact and educate the algorithm based on likes and dislikes, the system is able to continually improve the quality and relevance of suggested content.
About Rippol
Rippol is an intelligent video discovery engine to help people discovery video they'd like to watch among the ocean of video online. Rippol is a private company, founded in April, 2009 which can be found online at www.rippol.com

— WebWireID108217 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Internet Technology

Multimedia / Online / Internet

Television

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

SAP NEWSBYTE - In a recently published report, market research firm IDC identified SAP as a leading vendor of customer information systems (CIS) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems for the utilities industry. The IDC study, published by IDC Energy Insights, is conducted on an annual basis. The report evaluated the seven most relevant vendors of utility-specific CIS / CRM systems in the light of the challenges of the new energy economy. All vendors were benchmarked in a number of categories classified in two dimensions: ability to address market needs and ownership confidence. SAP received the highest ratings in the category 'ownership confidence' and the second highest ratings in the category 'ability to address market needs.'

The report emphasized the hard work that SAP has put into building new functionality into its CIS solution as well as the clear road map for releases going forward. In particular, the IDC Energy Insights study points out that SAP plans to offer enhanced functionality in a number of areas relevant to the new energy economy, which is characterized by the integration of smart metering, complex billing, and new business models for utility providers.

SAP also received high marks from customer references in deregulated markets. One customer has been able to bill 27 different products using the SAP application. The report also cites SAP's leadership as owing to a large extent to the close cooperation with customers and partners in the company's industry value network.

More than 500 utilities worldwide use CIS software from SAP. In addition to IDC Energy Insights, other large analyst firms have also ranked SAP as a leading provider of CIS solutions. Market research firm Gartner recently identified SAP for the third year in a row as the leading CIS vendor for the utilities industry. Utilipoint ranked SAP in the same position for the fourth consecutive year.

— WebWireID108196 —

Advertising / Marketing

Computer Networks

Computer Software

Internet Technology

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Country Reaches 4.65 Percent Penetration as Regions Outside Bogota Gain Broadband Market Share

BOGOTA, Colombia, Cisco announced today the results of the Cisco Broadband Barometer, which reported a 14 percent growth in broadband connections in Colombia from January to June 2009.

According to the study, 254,000 broadband connections were added during the first half of the year, when the country had reached 2,066,742 connections and a 4.65 percent penetration.

As shown by the barometer, growth was reported outside the metropolitan areas. The participation of the regions went from 16.6 percent to 29.9 percent of the total broadband market.

The first edition of Cisco's Broadband Barometer established a country goal of 3.5 million connections by 2010. Colombia will need to gain nearly 1.5 million additional connections by December 2010 to reach this goal.
Key Results:

    * More than half (59.3 percent) of broadband connections are between speeds of 512 kilobits per second and 1 megabit per second. Connections with speeds of 1 Mbps or higher represent 29 percent of the market and will continue to increase. This trend was also shown in the Cisco Visual Networking Index study, which predicts that Internet traffic will increase between 2007 and 2012, due mainly to video.
* The market analysis by segment conducted during the first half of 2009 shows that home connectivity represents 80 percent of total broadband connections, followed by the enterprise segment with nearly 20 percent.
* The home segment grew 14.8 percent. The strategy of service providers to take advantage of TV subscriber contracts generated the increase.
* The enterprise segment grew 10.6 percent during the first half of 2009.
* Small and medium-sized businesses account for 19,5 percent of broadband connections in the country.
* Three-quarters (75 percent) of broadband connections are concentrated in metropolitan areas, and only 25 percent are in the rest of the country.
* Bogota continues to have the greatest broadband penetration in the country (12.30 percent).
* Antioquia (6.41 percent), Boyaca (5.87 percent) and Eje Cafetero (4.05 percent) were the regions that led in broadband penetration during the first half of this year.
* The regions with the lowest broadband penetration were Cundinamarca (3.31 percent) and Valle-Choco-Nariño (2.18 percent).
* ADSL-type connections and fixed wireless connections had a 12.9 percent growth. Cable modem connections grew 16.5 percent, and Internet dedicated lines (dedicated IP) decreased by 1 percent.
* The mobile broadband market in Colombia grew 185 percent during the first half of this year. The country reached 704,000 mobile broadband connections.
* Mobile broadband distribution by segments reveals that the home segment leads with 88 percent of all connections. The enterprise segment represented 12 percent of the market.
* According to World Bank, high-speed broadband networks will enable the creation of new companies that could produce software, applications and information technology services. The information technology services industry can address key development challenges by creating jobs, increasing productivity and exports, and promoting social inclusion.

Supporting Quotes:

    * Simbad Ceballos, general manager, Cisco Colombia

"Broadband connections offer a unique and profitable opportunity to increase productivity and competitiveness, in addition to providing a way to surpass physical and geographic restrictions and offer services to citizens. According to studies done by the World Bank, a 10 point percentage increase in broadband Internet connections corresponds to a 1.3 point percentage increase in economic growth."

"Accelerating broadband penetration is a country goal that must have support by both public and private sectors. Colombia has had a constant growth in terms of numbers of connections. Nonetheless, it is critical to increase efforts to provide broadband to the masses and reach penetration percentages that are competitive on a global level. Also, improving the quality of connections and providing access to rural areas of the country are necessary to improve the connectivity conditions in Colombia."

— WebWireID108180 —

Business Announcements

Internet Technology

Telecommunications

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

The stories headlined in the media over recent days have highlighted the plight of British child migrants that were sent to Australia during the early to mid period of the last century. The reported commentary mirrors, in some ways, the type of stories encountered by Tracesmart over recent years, of people living abroad wanting to trace their relatives.

In the case of the "Forgotten Australians", thousands of British children, some as young as three, were separated from their families or taken from care homes and sent across the world. Once in Australia the boys and girls were reported to be used as cheap labour. Many were sent during the blitz in World War II, some were told they were orphans when in fact their families were still alive. Today, 7,000 child migrants from Britain are still understood to be living in Australia.

Similar to the stories that Tracesmart has come across, it's reported that many of the 7,000 people are now eager to find relatives in the UK that they have lost contact with, in the hope of being reunited with family members long forgotten or even long thought dead.

Tracesmart's primary service to the consumer is the provision of an intuitive online people search facility to help find relatives and friends. Their powerful name and address search tools employ a variety of datasets, including the uk electoral roll, and since its launch, www.tracesmart.co.uk has grown to become one of the UK's leading web based people tracing portals.

Owen Roberts, Tracesmart's Communications Manager commented, "Tracesmart's online facility provides a comprehensive, up-to-date and easy-to-use resource for people such as the 'child migrants', that can help them trace long lost family using current UK data.

Cisco Collaboration Platform Enables Musicians Across the Globe to Try Out for Southbank Sinfonia.

LONDON, - Southbank Sinfonia, Britain's best-known orchestra of young professional musicians and the country's leading orchestral academy, has for the second consecutive year hosted international auditions for its ensemble using Cisco TelePresenceTM, a technology allowing for life-size, high-definition video collaboration. The auditions were held last week in the Cisco London office.

Over 300 musicians from across the world applied to take part in the auditions, from countries as diverse as Taiwan, Sweden and Canada. Traditionally, musicians would have had to fly to London for the chance to undertake the 15-minute audition at significant cost and time. However, this year, two young musicians in Australia have for the first time auditioned using Cisco TelePresence suites in their own country.

The two Australian musicians performed live, while being assessed in real time by the select panel of judges back in London. This was made possible by the quality of the wideband spatial audio and the clarity of very high-definition video delivered by the Cisco TelePresence technology. As well as reducing the travel costs incurred and time commitment required by the candidates, Cisco TelePresence technology lowered the process's environmental impact.
Facts/Highlights:

    * The judging panel consisted of Simon Over (co-founder and music director of Southbank Sinfonia), Michael Berman (chairman of Southbank Sinfonia) and Jennifer Nickson (Royal Opera House).
* This year's Cisco TelePresence auditions took place in Sydney, Australia. Last year Cisco TelePresence auditions were held in Scotland, Spain, New Zealand and the United States.
* Cisco is committed to a high level of environmental responsibility in its business operations, culture, products and customer solutions. Cisco's vision is for the power of technology to transform how the world manages its environmental and energy challenges.
* Cisco now has more than 300 TelePresence customers, with some global customer deployments extending beyond 100 units.
* Internally, Cisco has deployed over 650 TelePresence units in more than 200 cities across 45 countries, which has allowed it to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from business travel by an estimated 186,786 metric tons.

Supporting Quotes:

    * Simon Over, music director of Southbank Sinfonia

"Southbank Sinfonia is committed to ensuring that the world's most talented and promising players, destined to be the future caretakers of orchestra, are not lost from the profession in the difficult period immediately following their time at music college. Last year Cisco enabled us to bring together performers who might not have been able to audition previously, and its technology has opened up an exciting range of new possibilities. We're delighted to be working with Cisco again this year to help us establish Southbank Sinfonia as an important contributor to musical life in Britain and beyond."

    * Phil Smith, Cisco vice president and chief executive for UK and Ireland

"Cisco believes that technology has the power to transform how the world collaborates and manages its environmental challenges. Businesses across the world are adopting TelePresence technology to do just that, but there are benefits for organisations of all types. Last year Cisco TelePresence opened the opportunity of auditions to young musicians, and this year we are building on that success. Cisco is thrilled to continue its work with Southbank Sinfonia and allow them to overcome the barriers of time, distance and cost whilst minimising its impact on the environment."

— WebWireID108134 —

Business Announcements

Computer Networks

Internet Technology

Music

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

National Contest Gets Parents and Kids Talking About Online Safety

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) announced today the winners of its Norton Cyber Safe Challenge, a national contest spotlighting online safety. The $20,000 Grand Prize was awarded to Signal Hill Elementary in Voorhees, N.J. for securing the highest number of parents who agreed to take the Challenge and registered for Norton's free online safety service, OnlineFamily.Norton.

More than 500 schools across the country competed in the Norton Cyber Safe Challenge, which began on October 1, to coincide with National Cyber Security Awareness Month, and ended on November 15. The Challenge encouraged parents to protect their kids from Internet dangers by signing up for OnlineFamily.Norton, a unique online family safety solution that fosters dialogue between parents and kids about their activities on the Internet.

Second and third place prizes of $10,000 and $5,000 were presented to the Academy for Science and Design in Merrimack, N.H. and the Academy Elementary in Westminster, Colo. for registering the highest percentage of parents relative to school size.

With everything from games to virtual worlds to homework assignments all online, kids are spending more time navigating the Internet and many parents are struggling to keep up. In fact, according to the 2009 Norton Online Living Report, almost half of online parents in the U.S. (47%) have reprimanded their child for doing something online they don't approve of.

'Parents need to take the necessary steps to protect their children from online threats,' said Marian Merritt, Norton's Internet Safety Advocate. 'We are proud of the parents at Signal Hill Elementary for making the effort to protect their kids online and help their school at the same time. We hope these schools are an inspiration to other parents.'

'All of this started with my efforts to protect my daughter form Internet dangers. I found OnlineFamily.Norton was exactly what I needed so I started telling other parents. Now, most of the children at our school are protected as well,' said Kim Stroemel, president of the Signal Hill Elementary Parent Faculty Association. 'As if that isn't enough, we'll now be able to give our children a new playground with the prize money. The kids will benefit both online and offline.'

OnlineFamily.Norton is a free product that parents can sign up for at http://onlinefamily.norton.com. Parents can also learn more about how to protect their kids online and get valuable tips by visiting the Norton Family Resource Center at www.norton.com/familyresource.

About Norton from Symantec

Symantec's Norton products protect consumers from cybercrime with antivirus, anti-spyware and phishing protection, as well as bots, drive-by downloads and identity theft-- while also being light on system resources.

New Cell Sites Added to Keep Residents Connected to Text, E-mail, Music and Mobile Web.

SCRANTON, PA.
* Improves coverage and capacity at Snö Mountain Ski Resort, as well as the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain
* Provides access to high-speed wireless broadband service
* Part of $100+ million network investment in Philadelphia Tri-State Region in 2009

Wireless calling, text messaging and surfing the Mobile Web on the Verizon Wireless high-speed 3G network will be easier and faster for Scranton skiers and Old Forge residents this winter, thanks to the activation of two new cell sites in Lackawanna County.

The first new site increases coverage and capacity at Snö Mountain Ski Resort including in the resort's lodge and along Montage Mountain Road, as well as at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain.

The second site enhances coverage and capacity throughout the boroughs of Old Forge, Moosic and Duryea, as well as along Route 11 from Avoca to the intersection of Interstate 81, Main Street, South Main Street and McAlpine Street.

With the improved network coverage, customers can use their wireless devices to send and receive e-mail and text, picture and video messages; view high-quality videos; and access VZ Navigator(SM)'s turn-by-turn directions, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls. The Verizon Wireless network also is built for reliability during emergencies, such as power outages and extreme weather conditions, with redundancy capabilities in place to maintain service for customers when they need it the most.

These network enhancements are part of Verizon Wireless' aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for the company's voice and data services. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $145 million to enhance services and coverage across central, northeastern and southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware so far in 2009, bringing the network investment in the region to more than $1.3 billion since 2001.

Verizon Wireless has the largest and most reliable 3G network coverage area in the United States. It's 3G data network provides its customers in more locations than any other wireless carrier the ability to browse the Web faster with quicker page loading times, quickly download and play music, watch streaming video, send e-mails with attachments, download and play 3D games, video conference with contacts and rapidly share files. View a map of Verizon Wireless' 3G coverage, compared with competitors' 3G coverage at http://vzwmap.verizonwireless.com/dotcom/coveragelocator/images/maps/3Gcomparison.pdf.

"We've always believed even the most advanced cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on," said Mario Turco, president of Verizon Wireless' Philadelphia Tri-State Region."Our 3G high-speed Mobile Broadband network is the largest and most reliable in the United States, and field tests are underway that will enable us to become the first wireless company to offer commercial LTE (Long Term Evolution)-based 4G service in the U.S., starting in 2010."

Demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the third quarter of 2009 when the company reported a total of 89 million customers. For the sixth consecutive year, the company led the industry in customer satisfaction in the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey.

During the third quarter, Verizon Wireless customers sent or received an average of 1.7 billion text messages each day, totaling more than 153 billion text messages, 7.2 billion more than last quarter. Customers also sent 2.8 billion picture/video messages and completed 38 million music and video downloads during the quarter.

Nationally, Verizon Wireless' real-life test men and test women drive more than 90 specially-equipped vehicles nearly one million miles each year on the country's most frequently traveled roadways to confirm that voice calls and data connections are successful on the first attempt and stay connected. Vehicles are equipped with computers that automatically make more than three million voice call attempts and more than 16 million data tests annually on Verizon Wireless' network and the networks of other carriers.

— WebWireID108080 —

Business Announcements

Internet Technology

Mobile Communications

Telecommunications

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

BOCA RATON, FL -- Over the past thirty years, traditional medical alert systems have enabled seniors and other individuals to live independently, with the ability to notify emergency personnel of problems with a pendant, watch or other electronic device. The limiting factor to this technology, however, has been the requirement of users to remain within close proximity to a receiver or base unit, inhibiting the ability to travel outside of a few hundred feet from their home.

As a solution, a Florida-based healthcare technology company has announced the launch of a new patent-pending, cellular and GPS-enabled mobile personal emergency response system (M-PERS) for seniors and those with special medical needs.

Headquartered in Boca Raton, Medical Mobile Monitoring has launched MobileHelp™, offering 24/7 medical and emergency monitoring services with real-time notification capabilities through the use of a GPS and cellular-enabled help button.

When subscribers need help, they simply press their help button and are connected via two-way voice to a central monitoring station that is live 24/7/365. By year's end, the new technology will also allow family members to see the location of their loved ones over the Web and be notified via mobile phone and email.

'MobileHelp addresses many of the limitations that exist with traditional medical alert systems currently on the market, namely the problem of the current technology only working in the home,' said Elias Janetis, founder and CEO of Medical Mobile Monitoring. 'Statistics show that 40% of fall-related injuries happen outside the home and only MobileHelp will have someone covered in these instances.'

'With our system, individuals are no longer confined to their homes and will have help when and where they need it with our anywhere help button,' he added.

The patent-pending technology has taken nearly four years to develop and gives peace-of-mind to family members and caregivers. The product is beneficial for those who desire to live independently and need access to emergency assistance at the touch of a button, no matter their location.

Medical Mobile Monitoring offers its product through a subscription-based service that requires a small monthly monitoring fee. Cost for the service and unit are comparable to the older products that are currently on the market.

'We are able to deliver significantly more features for about the same cost or less as the older in-home technology,' said Janetis. 'MobileHelp is a cost-effective way to significantly improve the quality of life of individuals and their families.'

In addition to its GPS medical alert system, Medical Mobile Monitoring also offers ClassicHelp, a traditional in-home medical alert system.

The company is currently offering free activation and a free month of service to anyone upgrading from a traditional alert system through year's end.

For more information, visit http://www.mobilehelpsys.com or call 1-877-827-6207.

# # #

— WebWireID108034 —

Health Care / Hospitals

Internet Technology

Medical / Pharmaceuticals

Mobile Communications

Telecommunications

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

In addition, the company revealed that its Microsoft Dynamics ERP hosting business has more than doubled in the past year, demonstrating strong uptake by partners to deliver Microsoft Dynamics ERP via on-demand and subscription-based hosting models as well as complementary services.

'Our customers increasingly appreciate the option of moving certain applications and services into the cloud while maintaining an on-premise option for their ERP solution,' said Crispin Read, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics ERP. 'Providing this choice and flexibility is a competitive advantage for us and our partners around the world.'

The Sites Service allows customers to seamlessly create and manage Web sites within the Microsoft Dynamics ERP application. For example, people can easily create landing pages for marketing campaigns, dedicated request for quote sites to get quotes from business partners, sites for product registration information and customer feedback, human resources sites for job recruiting, and sites on anything that the customers would want to reach out to their community on. Sites Service capabilities will include embedded intelligence and optimization models, which provide analytics to help customers make the most of their marketing efforts all within the context of their Microsoft Dynamics ERP application.

Another new service, Commerce, extends multichannel commerce scenarios by providing a link between the ERP products and different e-commerce opportunities such as business-to-consumer e-commerce marketplaces, dedicated e-commerce storefronts or built-in shopping cart functionality. This enables customers to list products and accept orders from a multitude of places, all from one easy-to-use interface.

Lastly, Payment enables customers to process payment transactions from the Microsoft Dynamics ERP interface across multiple channels, including e-commerce, point of sale and call center transactions. The Payment Service currently works with leading payment processing services, including First Data Merchant Services Corporation, for all major credit cards, such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. As part of today's announcement, Microsoft shared that the company has recently signed agreements with CyberSource Corp. and Pensio to provide these services to its ERP customers in the U.S. and Europe, with more agreements forthcoming.

'We are excited to be working closely with Microsoft as it extends its ERP offerings to allow for online capabilities such as payment processing and e-commerce,' said Michael Bolton, partner at Keyora Inc. 'More customers are demanding speed to market. This move by Microsoft can help increase its competitiveness.'

There are now more than 150 partners delivering subscription-based Microsoft Dynamics ERP solutions in geographies around the world, with strong momentum for new partners joining the program.

'The ability to provide Microsoft Dynamics ERP cloud solutions to Microsoft partners worldwide is central to our business strategy,' said Herb Prooy, CEO of SaaSplaza, a Microsoft hosting partner. 'Our partners appreciate the ability to move certain of the customers' applications into the cloud while maintaining an on-premise option or any mix of these. This option protects their current investment while getting them ready for the future, something that other vendors do not provide today. It's been a real competitive advantage for us at SaaSplaza, our partners and their customers as well.'

As further evidence of customers' desire for choice in deployment, Saugatuck Technology Inc., a Westport, Conn.-based research firm focused on emerging and disruptive technologies, revealed that software as a service (SaaS)-based solutions are being increasingly linked with on-premise data, applications and processes through Web services-based integration APIs, such as those contained in Microsoft Dynamics ERP, and that although most SaaS vendors with on-premise and cloud-based offerings will not have interoperating versions, or seamless data compatibility through 2011, Microsoft Dynamics ERP will be among the handful of first-wave 'hybrid' exceptions.*

The new Microsoft Dynamics ERP Sites and Commerce Services are expected to be available in the first half of 2010, with the additional payment service providers available in the first quarter of 2010. More information about the details of Microsoft's online ERP strategy, or the new online services being announced today, can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/en/us/erp-software-plus-services.aspx.

About Microsoft Dynamics

Microsoft Dynamics is a line of easy-to-use, integrated and adaptable ERP and CRM applications that enable business decision-makers to quickly respond to market shifts, take advantage of new trends, increase their competitive edge and drive business success. Microsoft Dynamics solutions are delivered through a world-class network of partners who provide specialized services and additional innovation to help customers excel in their industry.

About Microsoft

Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq 'MSFT') is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.

*Saugatuck Technology Report: Key Trends in SaaS/Cloud: Clearing the Air; Oct. 20, 2009

Note to editors: If you are interested in viewing additional information on Microsoft, please visit the Microsoft Web page at http://www.microsoft.com/presspass on Microsoft's corporate information pages.

Deutsche Telekom will take over the webhosting provider Strato from the telecommunications company Freenet. A contract will be signed today in Berlin with Freenet AG on the acquisition of 100 percent of its shares in Strato AG and Strato Rechenzentrum AG. The companies' supervisory boards approved the plan. The transaction is yet to be approved by the competition authorities.

"This step boosts our position on the highly interesting market for hosting solutions," said Niek Jan van Damme, Member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom for fixed-network and mobile business in Germany. "Strato complements our activities in the hosting area perfectly and will make a positive contribution to net profit and free cash flow from the very first day of consolidation," said van Damme.

The transaction will make Deutsche Telekom number two for webhosting products in Germany. Strato's products, which include e-mail, websites, blogs, and online shops as well as data storage services on physical and virtual servers, are primarily aimed at consumers and small business customers. The Berlin-based company operates around 4 million hosted domains and employs 502 staff.

This press release contains forward-looking statements that reflect the current views of Deutsche Telekom management with respect to future events. These also include statements on market potential, statements on finance guidance, as well as on the dividend outlook. They are generally identified by the terms "expect," "anticipate," "believe," "intend," "estimate," "aim for," "goal," "plan," "will," "strive for," "outlook" or similar expressions and often include information that relates to net revenue expectations or targets for adjusted EBITDA, profit or loss, earnings performance, and other indicators, as well as personnel-related measures and workforce adjustments. Forward-looking statements are based on current plans, estimates and projections. They should therefore be considered with caution. Such statements are subject to risks and uncertainties, most of which are difficult to predict and are generally beyond Deutsche Telekom's control, including those described in the sections "Forward-Looking Statements" and "Risk Factors" of the Company's Form 20-F annual report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Among the relevant factors are the progress of Deutsche Telekom's workforce reduction initiative, the restructuring of operating activities in Germany, and the impact of other significant strategic or business initiatives, including acquisitions, dispositions, business combinations, and cost reduction measures. In addition, regulatory decisions, stronger than expected competition, technological change, litigation and regulatory developments, among other factors, may have a material adverse effect on costs and revenue development. Furthermore, changes in the economic and business environments – for example, the current economic slump – in markets where we, our subsidiaries and affiliates operate, the enduring instability and volatility on the global financial markets, as well as exchange rate and interest rate fluctuations can also adversely affect our business development and the availability of capital at favorable terms. If these or other risks and uncertainties materialize, or if the assumptions underlying any of these statements prove incorrect, Deutsche Telekom's actual results may be materially different from those expressed or implied by such statements. Deutsche Telekom can offer no assurance that its expectations or targets will be met. Deutsche Telekom does not assume any obligation to update forward-looking statements to take new information or future events into account or otherwise. Deutsche Telekom does not reconcile its adjusted EBITDA guidance to a GAAP measure because it would require unreasonable effort to do so. As a rule, Deutsche Telekom does not predict the net effect of future special factors due to their uncertainty. Special factors and interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (including impairment losses) can have a significant effect on Deutsche Telekom's results.

In addition to figures prepared in accordance with IFRS, Deutsche Telekom presents non-GAAP financial performance measures, including EBITDA, EBITDA margin, adjusted EBITDA, adjusted EBITDA margin, adjusted EBT, adjusted net profit, free cash flow, gross debt and net debt. These non-GAAP measures should be considered in addition to, but not as a substitute for, the information prepared in accordance with IFRS. Non-GAAP financial performance measures are not subject to IFRS or any other generally accepted accounting principles. Other companies may define these terms in different ways. For further information relevant to the interpretation of these terms, please refer to the chapter "Reconciliation of pro forma figures" posted on Deutsche Telekom's website (www.telekom.com) under the link "Investor Relations."

— WebWireID108061 —

Business Announcements

Commercial Services

Financial Markets

Internet Technology

Telecommunications

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Citrix Netscaler Pay-As-You-Grow Pricing Gives Customers Unprecedented Licensing Flexibility

Simple, On-Demand Pricing Model Provides Investment Protection and Avoids Costly Hardware Upgrades

NEW YORK - Today at Interop New York, Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS) announced the groundbreaking new 'Pay-as-You-Grow' pricing for its Citrix® NetScaler® line of application acceleration, load balancing and web security appliances. Most networking systems require expensive hardware replacements to expand capacity and functionality, which often forces customers to over provision and pay for more than they need at any given time. The new Pay-as-You-Grow pricing from Citrix breaks this dependency, enabling customers to buy only what they need today, knowing they can easily scale up their network as demand grows with a simple software license upgrade. The flexible pricing applies to both high-performance NetScaler® MPX™ hardware appliances as well as the new software-based NetScaler® VPX™ virtual appliances. Instead of making purchase decisions based on unreliable traffic growth projections, NetScaler customers can now purchase a networking solution that meets near-term performance and capacity requirements, with the confidence that they can easily and quickly scale in the future without costly hardware replacements. The new licensing flexibility makes NetScaler an ideal complement to server virtualization, enabling customers to scale overall datacenter capacity in the most efficient way possible.

This same reliability upon scaling infrastructure applies in the enterprise, where traffic demands fluctuate continuously.

'Forecasting datacenter capacity requirements is a tricky proposition for any large company, especially as enterprise networking needs become more dynamic,' said Zeeshan Sabir, director of information technology at Qualcomm Incorporated. 'Citrix NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow pricing offers some compelling new cost efficiencies that can help simplify the hardware provisioning process.'

'With IT budget growth remaining constrained in the face of macroeconomic uncertainty, any development that will provide greater investment protection is welcomed by customers,' said Cindy Borovick, IDC. 'Unlocking networking performance with a license upgrade takes a benefit once reserved for software products, and applies it to a strategic portion of the networking market.'

In addition to providing investment protection for enterprise customers, NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow pricing is particularly well suited to cloud computing environments. It enables cloud providers to quickly and affordably expand their infrastructure as performance and capacity requirements dictate, without incurring the heavy fixed costs and service interruptions of hardware upgrades. The unique combination of high-performance Citrix NetScaler MPX hardware appliances and software-based NetScaler VPX virtual appliances enables cloud providers to build a highly flexible infrastructure that can meet the application delivery needs of a single cloud tenant while maximizing the performance and scalability of the entire infrastructure.

'Enterprise cloud deployments require solutions that align to both the financial and technology priorities of the CIO. As a result, we have engineered infrastructure management and hosting services that align with these economics and is a strategic reason why many enterprises and government agencies have chosen Carpathia Hosting,' said Jon Greaves, chief technology officer at Carpathia Hosting. 'With Citrix NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow, our customers can take advantage of Citrix investment protection as we offer elastic scaling of our complex application and network managed services with an on-demand, simple license upgrade. It is one of the key reasons why we chose Citrix NetScaler over other vendors.'

'The benefits of the NetScaler Pay-as-You-Grow pricing model are especially resonant in today's challenging economic environment where investment protection is essential in managing tight IT budgets,' said Klaus Oestermann, group vice president and general manager of the NetScaler Product Group at Citrix. 'The flexibility and seamless scalability with this adaptable licensing fundamentally changes how companies plan for network capacity and purchase application networking solutions.'

Pricing and Availability
The Pay-as-You-Grow pricing is available today for all NetScaler VPX virtual appliances, as well as for the NetScaler MPX 7500, MPX 9500, MPX 10500 and MPX 12500 hardware appliances.
