Rippol Launches with Intelligent Video Discovery Engine

Rippol Launches with Intelligent Video Discovery Engine - - Rippol Helps Users Discover, Watch and Share Online Video Using Real-Time Social Network Interaction, Social Impact and Intelligent Learning ...

Rippol Launches with Intelligent Video Discovery Engine

Rippol Helps Users Discover, Watch and Share Online Video Using Real-Time Social Network Interaction, Social Impact and Intelligent Learning Technology

San Francisco, Calif., Nov. 20, 2009 — Rippol™ today announced its company launch with an Intelligent Video Discovery Engine,™ leveraging the power of social impact and intelligent machine learning to enhance video discovery. Rippol was designed to help people discover, watch and share online video content in real-time, so that it's always easy to quickly find something good to watch.

Rippol enables users to stream video from sources all over the web including Revision3, Hulu, CNN, Fox, Amazon, MSNBC, Netflix, Joost, YouTube, Justin.TV, Last.Fm, MTV and other content providers. Users can filter, search or have tailored content suggestions selected for them by Rippol's Intelligent Discovery Engine.

Integration with other social networks including Facebook and Twitter enable users to chat, share links and suggest content to their extended social networks in real-time. A detachable HD video player enables users to pop the video window out of Rippol's site and position anywhere on their computer screen, with the ability to create video playlists, push content recommendations out to social networks and educate the system based on likes and dislikes.

The Problem – An Ocean of Content, What Should I watch?
Between the explosion of user-generated clips on YouTube, the major studios and networks making their content available online and the huge amount of professional content being developed specifically for the web, there is an endless amount of video to be consumed online. The problem is sifting through it all to find videos that you actually want to watch.
Currently, most online video content lies behind the walled gardens of each specific media company or content provider's site, requiring the web video viewer to visit several different web properties to find a certain show or genre of programming.
Google and Bing Video serve as good key word search tools if you know what you're looking for, but you won't find clever links to all content you personally want to watch. There are content providers out there like Netflix and Hulu that aggregate a massive amount of content. However it can be a major time sink for a person to find videos to watch if they don't know exactly what they'd like to see.
The current techniques used for sorting video based on parameters like 'most viewed' or 'recently added' provides a lack of consideration for individual tastes and preferences.

The Butterfly Effect Network™ – Social Discovery through Intelligent Learning
To address this problem, we've engineered Rippol as a tool that provides the crucial missing piece in the current online video landscape: an intelligent engine capable of providing a unique discovery experience for each individual viewer, rather than a homogeneous experience for all visitors to the site.
We observed that when people do watch a new TV show, movie or video clip, it's usually because a friend, family member or colleague either spoke about it, emailed it, tweeted about or posted a link or update on Facebook. We recognized that this power of social influence was one of the primary factors in driving people to step outside of the comfort zone of what they're familiar with and discover new content to watch.
'Rippol shifts the discovery experience so that instead of people seeking out content, now content finds the right people,' said Aaron Crayford, founder and CEO of Rippol. 'The Internet has enabled a new medium of interactive viewing, The Intervision, where it's all about the individual and what they personally want to watch. Rippol's Intelligent Discovery Engine analyzes the end user's social depth, the 3rd dimension that is found in The Intervision, to push content out to people based on what they like or would most likely want to be aware of.'
Rippol is unique in the content discovery space in that it uses advanced machine learning technology to process a huge amount of information about each specific end user in real-time. This system of proprietary real-time ranking algorithms is called The Butterfly Effect Network™.
Every video a user watches, rates and reviews affects The Butterfly Effect Network, which changes the order they and others connected to them see content in real-time. The Butterfly Effect Network cross references videos similar to what the user likes and has watched with the habits and opinions of their friends and demographics. Given that information, the network thinks about what the user might like best in that exact moment and then presents them with content ranked relative to their anticipated interests.
The Butterfly Effect Network helps users discover new content they might not otherwise know about and become more aware of the content that is being watched or discussed within their social circles. As users interact and educate the algorithm based on likes and dislikes, the system is able to continually improve the quality and relevance of suggested content.
About Rippol
Rippol is an intelligent video discovery engine to help people discovery video they'd like to watch among the ocean of video online. Rippol is a private company, founded in April, 2009 which can be found online at www.rippol.com

— WebWireID108217 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Internet Technology

Multimedia / Online / Internet

Television

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Fans can also visit www.myxer.com to download free "Live Music" ringtones and wallpapers.

The final film reflects the creative work of 51 animators from 17 countries. The unique production of "Live Music" through the Facebook Platform attracted a diverse group of global animators who brought their talents to the project. Said Jim Donovan of Colorado, "'Live Music' is the most rewarding project I have worked on as a 3-D artist." Another animator whose work made the cut, Sarah Knight of England, said, "I was grateful and excited to be included in such an awesome experiment." Adding his comments, Florida resident Zach Hansen said, "I am going to be the first out of my class to have their name in credits in movie theaters, and that is very exciting for me."

"In the making of 'Live Music,' we saw clearly that there are lots of talented artists around the world who don't have access to traditional animation opportunities and who were excited about working on this innovative indie project with us and our visual effects partners at Reel FX," said Yair Landau, founder of Mass Animation and former vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment. "We are incredibly grateful to all of the talented animators and artists around the world who joined us on this journey and look forward to collaborating on Mass Animation 2.0."

An international jury of animation experts selected the best shots to be considered for the film. As director, Landau had the final say as to which submissions made the final cut. Animators whose work made it into the finished product received on-screen credit and cash compensation. In addition, animators whose creation was rated best by the community on a weekly basis received cash prizes from Dell and Intel with which they could purchase Intel® Core™ i7 processor-based Dell Studio XPS systems.

"Empowering people with the technology that enables them to achieve their full creative potential has always been a driving force at Intel," said Deborah Conrad, Intel vice president and general manager, Corporate Marketing Group. "Our support for Mass Animation, as the first collaborative, worldwide effort of its kind, is part of our long heritage of cultivating innovation and collaboration in its many forms around the globe."

Produced by Landau and Jacquie Barnbrook, "Live Music" is a 5 1/2-minute computer-generated animated short inspired by Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" and early CGI films. Set in a musical instrument store, the story follows Riff, a rock 'n' roll guitar, who, as Landau describes it, "falls in love to the wrong song but ends up with Vanessa, the classical violin of his dreams." The story is conveyed through the universal language of music, allowing the expressions and actions of the characters to be instantly relatable globally. The instruments are brought to life through original compositions and familiar rock tunes played principally by legendary guitarist Steve Vai as Riff and acclaimed violinist Ann Marie Calhoun as Vanessa.

Along with Intel and thousands of participants in the project, Mass Animation's partners in making "Live Music" included Dell, Autodesk and Reel FX.

About Intel
Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), the world leader in silicon innovation, develops technologies, products and initiatives to continually advance how people work and live.

Atlanta, GA – Nov. 20, 2009 – Video Copy Services (VCS), an Atlanta-based CD and DVD duplication company, is pleased to announce and celebrate their 25th anniversary. From modest beginnings as a simple VHS and Betamax dub house, VCS has evolved into Atlanta's leading provider of CD, DVD and Blu-ray disc duplication, as well as digital video encoding and transcoding services. VCS is also proud to support the broadest range of high definition video formats in the Southeast.

'Over the years, constantly evolving technology has mandated that we stay on the cutting edge,' says VCS President George Helms. 'We've become early adopters in order to better serve our client's needs and goals. The best example of this is our extensive HD video capabilities.'

About VCS
Founded in October 1984, VCS began as a local provider of short-run videotape duplication. After growing and expanding its focus in 1997, VCS has been providing videotape, CD and DVD duplication services to the broadcast industry, film and music industries, religious groups, government agencies and corporate clients. In 1999, they further expanded their range of offerings from traditional duplication and transfers to include digital encoding and transcoding, plus a wide array of other high definition video services. Their latest addition, a new Final Cut Pro system, will add video editing capabilities to the VCS menu. After 25 years, VCS has grown into a true full-service audio and video duplication company, able to service their growing national client base out of two facilities in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

VCS is a recipient of an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and is proud to have served as Turner Broadcasting's in-house provider of DVD duplication, DVD replication and video transfer services since 2001. According to figures compiled by the Digital Entertainment Group through the first three quarters of 2009, Blu-ray Disc set-top player sales grew 112 percent over the same period last year. This holiday season, consumers can expect to see Blu-ray player prices starting around $100, making it much easier for home audiences to see films the way they were meant to be seen on their HDTV.

Through DVD2Blu, consumers can now experience their favorite movies again for the very first time in stunning 1080p picture quality and crisp, superior sound that only comes from a Blu-ray Disc. Titles such as Training Day, Deliverance and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation can be upgraded for as little as $7.95 plus shipping. Consumers who place orders over $25 will receive free shipping.

The process to upgrade is simple. Consumers select the titles they want to upgrade on DVD2Blu.com, mail in their standard DVDs with pre-paid postage and a short time later receive copies of the same film on Blu-ray Disc. For a complete list of titles visit DVD2Blu.com.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group is proud to be a leader in environmental stewardship and is committed to recycling the DVDs that consumers send in as part of the DVD2Blu program. The intellectual property is fully destroyed and all of the physical components are reused or recycled.
"Where the Wild Things Are" Taps AJA KONA 3 for Digital Workflow

Grass Valley, CA. AJA Video Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, announced that its KONA 3 digital video I/O cards were used by the "Where the Wild Things Are" editorial team to build efficiencies into their digital production and post workflow.

"Where the Wild Things Are" is the highly anticipated adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's book of the same name. The Spike Jonze-directed film opened on October 16, 2009. The film was edited by long-time Jonze collaborator Eric Zumbrunnen and James Haygood; First Assistant Editor Steve Bobertz and Associate Editor Erik Jessen were integral to developing the film's digital workflow. The team worked closely with Digital Film Tree in Hollywood, Calif to architect the systems and digital pipeline for the film.

KONA 3 is AJA's top of the line of 10-bit uncompressed capture and playback card for flexible video and audio input and output on the Mac platform. "Where the Wild Things Are" used the KONA 3 card during principle photography in Australia to digitize dailies from set. "We shot and digitized at true 24, not 23.98 and our audio was 48k, and the KONA 3 card helped us get great looking dailies," said Eric Zumbrunnen, Editor, "Where the Wild Things Are".

The team also used the AJA KONA 3 card to facilitate screenings. "The KONA 3 was invaluable in laying out to HDCAM for screenings. We initially tried screening off of drives, but we didn't have time to deal with any potential technical glitches, so we played back to HDCAM, using the KONA to up-convert from 720 to 1080 and it looked great," explained Erik Jessen, Associate Editor.

"We were using Final Cut and we had true 24-frame QuickTimes that we would render out. We put those into a 23.98 sequence and were able to set that up to go to our HDCAM Deck and play back with great accuracy. There really wasn't much else needed other than a computer with the KONA card and then you run a cable to the deck-pretty simple," added First Assistant Editor Steve Bobertz.

"We had enough confidence in the KONA card to allow the director and editor to work as late as they could even if we couldn't begin rendering and laying back to tape until 2 or 3 in the morning, so it was nice to have. It was great to know that we could trust that at the end of the day when we were ready to lay off the tape for the screening, we wouldn't run into any problems or technical glitches, the performance of the KONA 3 card was always very reliable," concluded Jessen.

Steve Bobertz and Erik Jessen have deployed AJA KONA cards in previous digital workflows. Jessen used them for ingest on "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". Bobertz also used KONA cards as key components of the editorial pipelines on the movies "Reno 911:Miami" and "Balls of Fury".

KONA 3 is the ultimate uncompressed capture card for seamless operation with Apple Mac Pro systems and Apple Final Cut Pro. Supporting any uncompressed SD or HD format, including Dual Link 4:4:4 HD and 2K, KONA 3 captures and plays back uncompressed 10-bit and 8-bit digital video and 24-bit digital audio, providing unparalleled power and workflow efficiency. KONA 3 also includes a variety of 10-bit broadcast-quality features, such as hardware-based up-, down-, and cross-conversion to and from HD, and adds a live hardware HD/SD keyer for compositing bugs, live clips, and other elements over video.

— WebWireID107710 —

Business Announcements

Computer Hardware

Computer Software

Film and Motion Picture

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Join Power Pop Band Vine House & La Dolce Vita at The Delancey on November 20th for an NYC Rock Party that will leave listeners dazzled.

New York, NY – November 12, 2009 – Rock music fans that already have plans on November 20th, will be quick to change them once they hear about this party. Vine House and La Dolce Vita on the same stage will be a surge of power pop and punk that won't be matched anywhere else in the city. The Delancey is going to be packed to the rafters.

The *dirtysweet* Rock Party starts off with free beer and glitter on from 9 to 10pm, then really starts to blast off when NYC Power Pop Band Vine House takes the stage. Vine House, a two-time performer at the International Pop Overthrow Festival, was Stereofame's artist of the month in September. Vine House is currently in the studio recording their next album. Come out and listen live to favorite songs like "Billy Robbins" and "High Maintenance Girl".

And just as the night heats up, former cast member of "The Sopranos", Michael Imperioli, takes the stage as lead singer and guitarist for his band La Dolce Vita. Rather than record in the studio, the band has chosen to hone their craft in front of the fans. Get an ear full of their raw, rock sound and find out why the press says they are killing it at every show they put on.

Cover charge for this event is $10.00 at the door, but those who say "Vine House" will receive $3.00 off. Come early, stay late: This event is going to sell out.

A new blog is keeping Sherlock Holmes fans up to date on the latest news about the new Sherlock Holmes movie set for Christmas and Boxing Day release. Featuring movie trailers, film stills, reviews and more, www.thesherlockholmesmovie.com is the site to go to for information about Guy Ritchie's 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie, starring Robert Downey as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. John Watson.

Anne Mitchell, the website developer and devoted Sherlock Holmes fan, said that 'Although www.thesherlockholmesmovie.com is featuring the new Sherlock Holmes movie, ultimately it is being built to celebrate Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson from 1887 to the present. Sherlock Holmes has been immortalized in books, movies, television series, games and more. He is still popular over 100 years later, so popular that they've made a new movie based on his character. That is pretty remarkable I think.

A Toronto animation milestone: Mike Efford Motion Design, a 3D animation studio in Toronto Canada, will soon be celebrating 15 years of creating motion graphics animation for some of the country's most successful marketing campaigns.

The studio opened in November 1994 and is now one of the most long-established practitioners of computer animation in Canada.

Mike Efford Motion Design celebrates 15 years of creative and successful animation projects for over 50 corporations, small businesses, and organizations. Toyota, GM, Thane Marketing, Guthy Renker, Scotiabank, IBM/Cognos, Thales, and Trillium Health Center are a small sampling of end clients who have called upon Mike Efford Motion Design to animate their visions.

One series of 3D technical animations helped Thales, a multinational technology firm, win a massive $650 million dollar contract with the London Underground Subway Lines to re - signal their subway tracks.

Animating consumer products has always been a specialty: the H2O vacuum was successfully marketed in infomercials across North America. They used computer animation to demonstrate how dirt, hair and even airborne bacteria are filtered and neutralized by this cleverly designed appliance; all visually demonstrated in under 15 seconds.

More recently the studio is proud of an innovative animated logo created for the William Osler Health System in Brampton Ontario. It featured a magical transformation from ripples in a pond into the multi – ringed symbol of the hospital.

Like the more than 100 logo animations that Mike Efford Motion Design has developed, the spirit and identity of the organization has been communicated with passion and flair.
Mike Efford Motion Design creates 3D computer animation for clients primarily in the Greater Toronto area.

Visit: http://www.mike-efford-motion-design.com

— WebWireID107439 —

Advertising / Marketing

Film and Motion Picture

Multimedia / Online / Internet

Television

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

NCR, MOD Systems begin digital kiosk download revolution in Entertainment with first technical trial in retail

Select retail locations feature kiosks that download entertainment titles to SD memory cards

DULUTH, Ga. and SEATTLE, Wash. – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR ) and MOD Systems®, Inc., have taken the first step in changing the way consumers purchase, rent and play entertainment titles on electronic devices. NCR and MOD Systems today announced a digital kiosk download pilot that transforms the movie rental experience into a simple, three-step process: choosing from more than a thousand movies and TV shows stored in a kiosk, quickly downloading the title to a secure digital (SD) memory card, and playing the movie on a home television.

The pilots, being conducted in select BLOCKBUSTER® locations and other retail stores, are the first step in an ambitious initiative to leverage breakthrough portable digital storage technology. The NCR and MOD Systems pilots offer the potential to revolutionize how consumers download movies, TV shows, music, books, games and other digital content outside of the home, and then play them on home televisions, computers, and other mobile devices, regardless of brand.

NCR already provides consumers around the United States the latest DVD titles through thousands of BLOCKBUSTER Express™ branded DVD-rental kiosks. NCR's existing kiosks – such as its new outdoor kiosk – are 'digital download ready' and NCR expects to quickly integrate this technology to its existing kiosk base as digital download becomes more popular.

Digital downloads from a kiosk provide an enhanced alternative to existing home entertainment experiences. It:

    * Offers higher quality playback over streaming content from the Internet (faster, no buffering delays)
* Allows for the portability of content to other devices inside and outside the home
* Added convenience - content is always available and there are no returns

The initial technical pilot will facilitate playback on a TV via a digital media player provided to trial participants, and future iterations will allow consumers to move digital content via the SD memory card to a number of portable electronic devices, such as laptops and mobile phones.

Rentals from the digital download kiosks will be tested at various prices. In a departure from existing rental services, consumers will have 30 days from purchase to watch the movie. Once they begin watching the movie, they have 48 hours to finish watching it before digital rights management (DRM) technology automatically locks the content to prevent further viewing.

The initial deployment will offer consumers a choice of more than 1,000 new release and classic movie titles, with the catalog increasing to more than 1,500 titles by early 2010.

'Digital download across our kiosk network is a key part of NCR's entertainment growth strategy. DVDs and Blu-ray discs will continue to be popular and powerful mediums, but we recognize the future of Entertainment is in the ubiquity of content – being able to play media on a wide variety of devices and being able to purchase it in a wide variety of locations,' said Alex Camara, vice president and general manager, NCR Entertainment. 'This is the future of entertainment kiosks. Consumers clearly demand the choice to play content where, when and how they want. We are taking the first step in bringing the future of entertainment delivery to consumers in a convenient, fast and easy to access format.'

The MOD Retail Digital Content Distribution System helps retailers bring an expansive library of digital content into their stores and sell it in convenient concierge and self-serve models via the NCR kiosk. The company has extensive experience in digital media, enterprise software, and large-scale deployments and has delivered numerous industry-leading digital media solutions to retailers.

'This is an exciting milestone for our business," said Anthony Bay, chairman and CEO of MOD Systems. "We have been working diligently with partners, studios and retailers to deliver on our vision of making it easy for consumers to access and download digital content from kiosks in a wide variety of locations outside the home. We're encouraged by the early positive feedback and results, and we look forward to a more expansive rollout in 2010.'

About NCR Corporation

NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR ) is a global technology company leading how the world connects, interacts and transacts with business. NCR's assisted- and self-service solutions and comprehensive support services address the needs of retail, financial, travel, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, gaming and public sector organizations in more than 100 countries. NCR (www.ncr.com) is headquartered in Duluth, Georgia.

About MOD Systems

MOD Systems, Inc. enables retailers to deliver digital entertainment to consumers through interactive self-serve or concierge-assisted kiosks for downloading music and movies to Flash Memory in Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, USB drives and portable devices. The company's growing entertainment catalog includes nearly 4,000 independent and major video titles, and more than five million music tracks.

Walsh Family Media (WFM), a premier independent animation studio in New York City, is producing their first CG feature film, 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit'. With one feature in production, a sequel in preproduction, and a thriving service division catering to film and commercial clients, Walsh Family Media is emerging as a major player in the entertainment and media industry.

'The Cool Beans' are the company's flagship property. They are a group of hip, contemporary, musicians with an old school flare. In 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit', The Cool Beans, the hippest band in the garden, have spent all their money producing their first song in hopes of landing a recording contract with the Kernel, the president of Marigold Records. The Bean's recording is stolen by rival band The Bad Seedz who are hoping to eliminate the competition and land a contract of their own.

Apart from being featured in this upcoming film, The Beans are poised to make a big mark on the music scene. Their first single 'Bean Somethin'' was released earlier this month on Daddy Bean Records.

Walsh Family Media is an independent intellectual property developer and animation studio based in NYC. The company was started in 2002 by Hollywood stuntman and entrepreneur Patrick Walsh Jr. The company's mission has been consistent since it's inception: 'To strengthen the connection between parents and their children by producing healthy, hip and fun family branded content where the only rule is to keep it cool!'

Walsh Family Media is continuing to 'keep it cool' by bringing an independent edge to an industry run by huge corporations. For instance, on November 11 Patrick Walsh will be riding a children's tricycle from Downtown Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan to raise money for charity and to bring attention to independent film in NYC.

More information about 'The Cool Beans' can be found online at www.thecoolbeansmovie.com

About Patrick M. Walsh, Jr.

Patrick M. Walsh, Jr. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walsh Family Media, LLC and is the creator, writer, Producer and Director of The Cool Beans; We Need a Hit. Walsh's business career began on Wall Street in the Government Bond department of Fundamental Brokers. At Fundamental, a lifelong curiosity and experience with computers enabled him to lead the implementation of a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art trading system. After teaming up with Grammy Award nominated musician Danny Lavery to record songs for children, Walsh started on the road to developing his own unique kid-friendly property, Walsh left his career in business behind him for a life in the film industry.

In 1998, while continuing to develop music and ideas for a children's property Walsh began appearing as a stunt man and as an actor in both TV and film—most notably in The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow and I Heart Huckabees. In 2002 Walsh started Walsh Family Media, LLC and began developing the property that would become 'The Cool Beans' full-time out of his Upper West-Side New York apartment. Today Walsh Family Media continues to operate out of a studio in Mid-Town.

www.walshfamilymedia.com

— WebWireID107211 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Lifestyle / Society

Youth / Children

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

TNT has acquired exclusive syndication rights to The Mentalist from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, commencing in 2012. Currently in its second season on CBS, The Mentalist has emerged as one of the hottest shows on broadcast television. The top-rated series was the #1 new program of the 2008-2009 television season among total viewers and households and won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Drama.

The Mentalist will join a TNT lineup that includes many hit acquired series, along with network originals such as The Closer, Saving Grace, HawthoRNe, Leverage and the upcoming Men of a Certain Age. TNT also recently picked up Warner Bros. Television's Southland.

"THE MENTALIST is a terrific show that will be an ideal fit for TNT's already strong lineup," said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. "The early success of the series also indicates The Mentalist has a great future."

"Everyone recognized early on that The Mentalist was an A-tier drama, the kind of program that would have a profoundly positive effect on its cable licensee," said Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. "As a result, the demand for the off-network rights began almost immediately following its debut on CBS last fall and has steadily increased as the show blossomed into a true broadcast hit."

In addition to being a commercial hit, The Mentalist is critically acclaimed, with the Television Critics Association nominating the series as Outstanding New Program of the Year. The Washington Post said star Simon Baker was "such a sly and commanding presence that he holds your attention in every scene," while USA Today praised the show as "well-cast, well-written," and Entertainment Weekly declared it "a fun, fast-paced treat."

The Mentalist stars Golden Globe® and Emmy® nominee Baker as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor-sharp skills of observation.

Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits were feigned. Jane's role in cracking a series of tough, high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents. No-nonsense Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney – Prison Break) openly resists having Jane in her unit and alternates between reluctantly acknowledging Jane's usefulness and blasting him for his theatrics, narcissism and dangerous lack of boundaries.

Lisbon's team includes agents Kimball Cho (Tim Kang – Third Watch), Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman – Generation Kill) and rookie member Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti – The O.C.), who all think Jane's a loose cannon but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases.

The Mentalist is from Warner Bros. Television and is executive-produced by Bruno Heller (Rome) and Chris Long (Gilmore Girls).

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) is one of the leading suppliers of entertainment programming to the domestic television marketplace, distributing first-run syndicated series, off-network television programs and theatrical motion pictures to local broadcast television stations, as well as to pay, cable, satellite and broadcast networks throughout the U.S. WBDTD handles the domestic distribution of television series produced by Warner Bros.
