Walsh Family Media (WFM), a premier independent animation studio in New York City, is producing their first CG feature film, 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit'. With one feature in production, a sequel in preproduction, and a thriving service division catering to film and commercial clients, Walsh Family Media is emerging as a major player in the entertainment and media industry.

'The Cool Beans' are the company's flagship property. They are a group of hip, contemporary, musicians with an old school flare. In 'The Cool Beans: We Need a Hit', The Cool Beans, the hippest band in the garden, have spent all their money producing their first song in hopes of landing a recording contract with the Kernel, the president of Marigold Records. The Bean's recording is stolen by rival band The Bad Seedz who are hoping to eliminate the competition and land a contract of their own.

Apart from being featured in this upcoming film, The Beans are poised to make a big mark on the music scene. Their first single 'Bean Somethin'' was released earlier this month on Daddy Bean Records.

Walsh Family Media is an independent intellectual property developer and animation studio based in NYC. The company was started in 2002 by Hollywood stuntman and entrepreneur Patrick Walsh Jr. The company's mission has been consistent since it's inception: 'To strengthen the connection between parents and their children by producing healthy, hip and fun family branded content where the only rule is to keep it cool!'

Walsh Family Media is continuing to 'keep it cool' by bringing an independent edge to an industry run by huge corporations. For instance, on November 11 Patrick Walsh will be riding a children's tricycle from Downtown Brooklyn to Midtown Manhattan to raise money for charity and to bring attention to independent film in NYC.

More information about 'The Cool Beans' can be found online at www.thecoolbeansmovie.com

About Patrick M. Walsh, Jr.

Patrick M. Walsh, Jr. is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Walsh Family Media, LLC and is the creator, writer, Producer and Director of The Cool Beans; We Need a Hit. Walsh's business career began on Wall Street in the Government Bond department of Fundamental Brokers. At Fundamental, a lifelong curiosity and experience with computers enabled him to lead the implementation of a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art trading system. After teaming up with Grammy Award nominated musician Danny Lavery to record songs for children, Walsh started on the road to developing his own unique kid-friendly property, Walsh left his career in business behind him for a life in the film industry.

In 1998, while continuing to develop music and ideas for a children's property Walsh began appearing as a stunt man and as an actor in both TV and film—most notably in The Patriot, The Day After Tomorrow and I Heart Huckabees. In 2002 Walsh started Walsh Family Media, LLC and began developing the property that would become 'The Cool Beans' full-time out of his Upper West-Side New York apartment. Today Walsh Family Media continues to operate out of a studio in Mid-Town.

www.walshfamilymedia.com

— WebWireID107211 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Lifestyle / Society

Youth / Children

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

TNT has acquired exclusive syndication rights to The Mentalist from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, commencing in 2012. Currently in its second season on CBS, The Mentalist has emerged as one of the hottest shows on broadcast television. The top-rated series was the #1 new program of the 2008-2009 television season among total viewers and households and won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Drama.

The Mentalist will join a TNT lineup that includes many hit acquired series, along with network originals such as The Closer, Saving Grace, HawthoRNe, Leverage and the upcoming Men of a Certain Age. TNT also recently picked up Warner Bros. Television's Southland.

"THE MENTALIST is a terrific show that will be an ideal fit for TNT's already strong lineup," said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. "The early success of the series also indicates The Mentalist has a great future."

"Everyone recognized early on that The Mentalist was an A-tier drama, the kind of program that would have a profoundly positive effect on its cable licensee," said Ken Werner, president, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. "As a result, the demand for the off-network rights began almost immediately following its debut on CBS last fall and has steadily increased as the show blossomed into a true broadcast hit."

In addition to being a commercial hit, The Mentalist is critically acclaimed, with the Television Critics Association nominating the series as Outstanding New Program of the Year. The Washington Post said star Simon Baker was "such a sly and commanding presence that he holds your attention in every scene," while USA Today praised the show as "well-cast, well-written," and Entertainment Weekly declared it "a fun, fast-paced treat."

The Mentalist stars Golden Globe® and Emmy® nominee Baker as Patrick Jane, an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor-sharp skills of observation.

Within the Bureau, Jane is notorious for his blatant lack of protocol and his semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, whose paranormal abilities he now admits were feigned. Jane's role in cracking a series of tough, high-profile cases is greatly valued by his fellow agents. No-nonsense Senior Agent Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney – Prison Break) openly resists having Jane in her unit and alternates between reluctantly acknowledging Jane's usefulness and blasting him for his theatrics, narcissism and dangerous lack of boundaries.

Lisbon's team includes agents Kimball Cho (Tim Kang – Third Watch), Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman – Generation Kill) and rookie member Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti – The O.C.), who all think Jane's a loose cannon but admire his charm and knack for clearing cases.

The Mentalist is from Warner Bros. Television and is executive-produced by Bruno Heller (Rome) and Chris Long (Gilmore Girls).

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) is one of the leading suppliers of entertainment programming to the domestic television marketplace, distributing first-run syndicated series, off-network television programs and theatrical motion pictures to local broadcast television stations, as well as to pay, cable, satellite and broadcast networks throughout the U.S. WBDTD handles the domestic distribution of television series produced by Warner Bros. Television, Telepictures Productions, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Horizon Television; selected HBO Independent Productions and the Lorimar Television library; current feature films from Warner Bros. Pictures; and the Studio's unmatched motion picture library.

Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) is one of the entertainment industry's most respected providers of original content, producing award-winning drama and comedy series for both broadcast network television and cable. For the 2009-2010 television season, WBTV is producing more than 25 primetime series, with at least one show on each of the five broadcast networks. New programs include the one-hour drama The Vampire Diaries, the #1 show on The CW; one-hour shows Human Target and Past Life for Fox; the hourlong V, Eastwick and The Forgotten, as well as half-hour comedies The Middle and Hank for ABC; and an untitled medical drama from Jerry Bruckheimer Television for midseason on CBS, among others. Continuing programs include TV's #1 comedy among households and total viewers in Two and a Half Men, TV's #1 comedy among adults 18-49 in The Big Bang Theory, the #1 new program of 2008-2009 among households and total viewers in The Mentalist, the Julia Louis-Dreyfus-starring comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine and veteran drama Cold Case for CBS; the #1 new program of 2008-2009 among adults 18-49 in Fringe for Fox; Chuck for NBC; and Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville and Supernatural for The CW. WBTV also produces The Closer and Southland for TNT and Nip/Tuck for FX.

TNT, one of cable's top-rated networks, is television's destination for drama and home to such original series as the acclaimed and highly popular detective drama The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick; Saving Grace, starring Holly Hunter; HawthoRNe, with Jada Pinkett Smith; Leverage, starring Timothy Hutton; Raising the Bar, with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben and Jane Kaczmarek; and Dark Blue, starring Dylan McDermott, as well as the newly acquired Southland, from ER creator John Wells. TNT also presents such powerful dramas as Bones, CSI: NY and Numb3rs; broadcast premiere movies; compelling primetime specials, such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards®; and championship sports coverage, including NASCAR and the NBA. TNT is available in high-definition.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, creates and programs branded news, entertainment, animation and young adult media environments on television and other platforms for consumers around the world.

— WebWireID107204 —

Advertising / Marketing

Business Announcements

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Television

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE) have entered into an extensive new partnership to offer classic movie fans rare vintage films, all digitally remastered, on DVD on a made-to-order basis. The TCM Vault Collection Presented by Universal marks USHE's first foray into the manufactured-on-demand (MOD) arena. TCM began offering MOD featuring lost titles from the RKO library.

TCM and USHE are working to remaster a number of great titles never before available on DVD, with several never available on home video at all. The first titles made available include five chilling horror films, three early Cary Grant pictures and the unsung 1940 holiday classic Remember the Night, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray and scripted by the great Preston Sturges. The films will be made available by request on DVD via TCM.com for the first time during the fourth quarter of 2009. TCM host Robert Osborne will provide introductions for selected titles, which will also include supplemental materials compiled by TCM and extensive material from the TCM archives. In addition, TCM will present exclusive premieres of the movies over the next six months.

"Many terrific films have been unavailable on home video for far too long, especially the holiday classic Remember the Night," Osborne said. "It's wonderful that today's movie fans will be able to enjoy these rare movies. TCM and Universal have put great effort into restoring them digitally and providing historical context, bonus material and behind-the-scenes information, something DVD collectors, like me, are sure to appreciate. I'm very pleased to be part of this great project with TCM and Universal."

For Universal, the agreement is a great way to reach avid film fans. "Universal is very proud of its prestigious collection of Hollywood screen gems," said Craig Kornblau, president, Universal Studios Home Entertainment. "Like us, TCM is deeply dedicated to honoring Hollywood's golden age. This collaboration presents the perfect opportunity to share Universal's rich cinematic legacy and celebrate vintage works with classic film fans."

The launch of TCM/Universal DVDs will be divided into three initial releases:

Universal Cult Horror Collection (films also available as singles)
DVD Availability: Oct. 31
TCM Premiere of Murders in the Zoo: Oct. 31
Suggested Retail Price: Collection - $49.99; Individual Titles - $19.99

This collection will include five rarely seen horror gems from the Universal vault, most appearing on home video for the first time. Special features include over a hundred photos, posters and lobby cards, trivia, articles and more.

Murders in the Zoo (1933) – Censors had a heyday with this horror film about a zoologist and sportsman who uses his zoo animals to kill his wife's lovers. Lionel Atwill plays the villain, with Kathleen Burke as his wife, a young Randolph Scott as the hero and the ever lovable Charles Ruggles providing comic relief as the zoo's press agent. Among the men playing Burke's doomed lovers is John Lodge, who later left acting to enter politics, becoming governor of Vermont.

Mad Doctor of Market Street (1942) – Lionel Atwill plays a mad scientist who places people into suspended animation and then revives them. When he is accused of murder following the death of one of his subjects, he flees on a ship, becomes stranded on a tropical island and soon becomes revered as a god by the natives. Una Merkel, Nat Pendleton and Claire Dodd co-star.

The Strange Case of Dr. RX (1942) – A mysterious killer bumps off acquitted murderers who have all been represented by the same lawyer, played by Samuel S. Hinds. Lionel Atwill, Patric Knowles and Anne Gwynne co-star, with Shemp Howard (on hiatus from his work with The Three Stooges) providing comic relief.

The Mad Ghoul (1943) – This creepy tale follows a mad professor, played by George Zucco, who has discovered an ancient Egyptian gas that turns anyone who sniffs it into a heart-eating zombie. David Bruce plays the doctor's assistant who gets dosed with the gas and goes on a murderous rampage. Evelyn Ankers and Robert Armstrong co-star.

House of Horrors (1946) – The legendary Rondo Hatton, whose acromegaly deformed his face and made him a frequent Hollywood villain, marked one of his last roles with this offbeat film. Martin Kosleck plays a mad artist who, after saving Hatton and making a bust of his face, uses the disfigured hulk to murder art critics. Hatton died of a heart attack the year this film was released.

Remember the Night (1940)
DVD Availability: Nov. 22
TCM Telecasts: Dec. 6 and Dec. 24
Suggested Retail Price: $19.99

This heart-warming holiday romance – penned by Preston Sturges – marked the first of four on-screen pairings of Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck and came four years before their iconic work in Double Indemnity. MacMurray plays a prosecutor who finds himself falling in love with a shoplifter (Stanwyck) during a court recess at Christmas time. The atmospheric film co-stars Beulah Bondi, Elizabeth Patterson and Sterling Holloway and was directed by Mitchell Leisen.

Remember the Night is rarely seen and received a brief home-video release on VHS. It is being now remastered and brought back to life so it can take its rightful place as a signature holiday classic. Special features on the DVD will include an introduction by Robert Osborne; still galleries, including behind-the-scenes photos; never-before-seen interview segments on the work of director Mitchell Leisen from the TCM Archives; and the original movie trailer, trivia, biographies and more.

Cary Grant Collection (films also available as singles)
DVD Availability: January 2010
Three early Cary Grant films will populate this boxed set:

The Eagle and the Hawk (1933) – This vivid World War I drama stars Frederic March as a disillusioned but fearless squadron leader and Cary Grant as his bullied gunner-observer. The gripping interpersonal drama, anti-war sentiments and outstanding aerial dogfights give this film an impact that remains vital today. Carole Lombard and Jack Oakie round out a top-notch cast. The great director Mitchell Leisen, who is billed as associate director, is believed to have directed most of this film.

The Devil and the Deep (1932) – This melodrama is headlined by Tallulah Bankhead, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant and Charles Laughton. The setting is the northern coast of Africa, where submarine commander Laughton is stationed and where his wife, Bankhead, is splitting her time between suitors Cooper and Grant. This marked Laughton's first American film and one of his most underappreciated performances.

The Last Outpost (1935) – Cary Grant plays a British officer saved from a Kurdish tribe by fellow officer Claude Rains. But when Grant unknowingly falls in love with Rains' wife, tragedy looms. Gertrude Michael and Kathleen Burke co-star under the dual direction of Charles Barton and Louis Gasnier.

Future Universal collections and titles for rollout on DVD and TCM include vintage films from Fred MacMurray and Claudette Colbert, Deanna Durbin, director Douglas Sirk and many more.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is a unit of Universal Pictures, a division of Universal Studios (www.universalstudios.com). Universal Studios is a part of NBC Universal, one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news, and information to a global audience. Formed in May 2004 through the combining of NBC and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, NBC Universal owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. NBC Universal is 80% owned by General Electric and 20% owned by Vivendi.

Turner Classic Movies is a Peabody Award-winning network celebrating 15 years of presenting great films, uncut and commercial-free, from the largest film libraries in the world. Currently seen in more than 80 million homes, TCM features the insights of veteran primetime host Robert Osborne and weekend daytime host Ben Mankiewicz, plus interviews with a wide range of special guests.

Grass Valley, CA .-AJA Video Systems, a leading manufacturer of professional video interface and conversion solutions, announced today that 15 KONA video capture and playback cards are in use at the UK's Aardman Animations, producers of the Academy Award-winning 'Wallace and Gromit' films and television series. The KONA family is AJA's line of 10-bit uncompressed capture and playback cards for video and audio input and output on the Mac platform, including KONA 3, AJA's top-of-the-line video card for SD, HD, Dual Link 4:4:4 HD and 2K formats.

Recent Aardman projects using AJA's KONA 3 include the second season of the stop-motion animated children's series, 'Shaun the Sheep,' a 'Wallace and Gromit' spin-off airing in late 2009 on CBBC, the children's arm of the BBC network, and 'Timmy,' Aardman's first major foray into pre-school programming, which will premiere in 2009 on Playhouse Disney channels worldwide.

'We use the KONA cards for monitoring on all our broadcast projects,' commented Paul Reeves, Aardman's technical support engineer, who has been with the company since 2004. 'KONA cards do everything we need them to, and they do it well. Once we decided to upgrade to Mac systems in 2006, we put a KONA card directly inside each one, and they've never failed us. We even have an extra KONA 3 we keep on the shelf as a backup, and it's never been used.'

Aardman also employs AJA's breakout boxes with all their KONA cards. 'The breakout boxes make installation so much easier for us,' Reeves explained. 'The driver software is also simple to use, much simpler than any other software I've seen for similar products.'

In addition to the KONA video capture and playback cards, Aardman also employs AJA mini-converters throughout the facility. 'We bought the first ones in 2007, and use them literally everywhere -- in the studios, in the edit bays, and in our new theater. They can do just about anything: HD and SD distribution, SD to HD up-conversions, HD to SD down-conversions, SD audio embedders, SD audio de-embedders, et cetera. We use them all the time and have found them to be perfectly reliable. I've never had to send one back.' About the AJA KONA product line The KONA family is AJA's line of 10-bit uncompressed capture and playback cards for video and audio input and output on the Mac platform. KONA cards lead the way with features that satisfy even the most advanced video workflows. From the KONA LSe and its complete suite of analog and digital SD support and the KONA LHe, which bridges the SD and HD worlds, to the KONA LHi with support for HDMI and 3G SDI, going all the way to the industry-leading top-of-the-line KONA 3 with high-end features including SD/HD, hardware up/down/cross-conversion, dual-link and 2K support. A simple, affordable desktop Mac Pro system and a KONA card deliver the quality and function of a full-featured nonlinear editing suite at a fraction of the price.

— WebWireID106606 —

Business Announcements

Computer Hardware

Computer Software

Film and Motion Picture

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

Minnesota Film Arts is proud to present the Lyme disease documentary 'Under Our Skin,' co-sponsored by the Minnesota Lyme Action Support Group. Show days and times are: November 8, 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, and November 9 and 10, 7:30 p.m., at the Oak Street Cinema, 309 Oak St in Minneapolis. The Event is Part of an Effort to Pass Legislation to Allow Patients to Choose Long-term Lyme Disease Antibiotic Therapy

The screenings are part of an effort to raise awareness and help pass Minnesota Senate bill SF1631, which will allow patients with Lyme disease other tick-borne diseases and their doctors– not insurance companies – to decide what treatment protocol to follow.

Jordan Fisher Smith, who tells his own harrowing story in the film, will emcee the Nov 8 and 9 showings. State legislators Ray Vandeveer and John Ward will talk briefly about the legislation before the shows on Nov 8. Dr. Elizabeth Maloney, MLASG medical consultant, will be on hand for questions after all screenings. Jordan Fisher Smith and Dr. Maloney will be available to media 45 minutes before show times, or by appointment.

Lyme disease is a complex disease with complicated issues surrounding it. Here are some of the basics:

    * Lyme disease is the fastest growing vector-borne disease in the United States. Minnesota ranks 8th, with 1,282 cases reported in 2008.
* The CDC estimates the number to be ten times that, making LD bigger than West Nile and Avian flu combined.
* 1 in 3 deer ticks in Minnesota carry the Lyme bacteria, according to the MN Dept of Health.
* Lyme cases have spiked 450% in Minnesota from 1998 – 2008.
* Tests for LD are highly inaccurate and result in false negatives; insurance companies then use these results to deny care.
* Patients are often denied much-needed antibiotic treatment by doctors who are misinformed about the disease or fear reprisal from state medical boards.
* Each year thousands go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, told that their symptoms are "all in their head.'

'Under Our Skin' follows patients and physicians as they battle for their lives and livelihoods, bringing into focus a haunting picture of our health care system and its inability to cope with a silent terror under our skin.

The Minnesota Lyme Action Support Group is a non-profit organization working toward increased awareness and prevention of Lyme disease, as well as much-needed research into the causes and complications of tick-borne diseases.

The Minnesota Lyme Action Support Group also provides educational opportunities for physicians, advocacy for patients, information on tick-borne diseases, and support to those infected with Lyme disease.

— WebWireID106410 —

Film and Motion Picture

Health Care / Hospitals

Infectious Disease Control

Medical / Pharmaceuticals

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

TEWKSBURY, Mass. — Avid® (NASDAQ: AVID) reported revenues of $153.7 million for the three-month period ended September 30, 2009, compared to $217.1 million for the same period in 2008. The GAAP net loss for the quarter was $16.2 million, or $.43 per share, compared to a GAAP net loss of $66.4 million, or $1.80 per share, in the third quarter of 2008. The third quarter 2008 results included a non-cash impairment charge of $51.3 million or $1.39 per share.

The GAAP net loss for the third quarter of 2009 included amortization of intangibles, stock-based compensation, restructuring charges, loss on asset sales and related tax adjustments, collectively totaling $17.0 million. Excluding these items, the non-GAAP net income was $787 thousand for the third quarter, or $.02 per share.

'We continue to execute on a number of strategic initiatives to improve the overall health and efficiency of our operations,' said Gary Greenfield, Avid's chairman and CEO. 'The third quarter showed sequential improvement in revenue and expanded gross margins, resulting in another quarter of improving results.'

Revenues for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2009 were $455.9 million, compared to revenues of $638.2 million for the same period in 2008. GAAP net loss for the first nine months of 2009 was $49.4 million, or $1.33 per share, compared to GAAP net loss of $97.9 million, or $2.59 per share, for the same period in 2008. GAAP net loss for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2009 included $39.1 million of amortization, stock-based compensation, restructuring charges, loss on asset sales and related tax adjustments. Excluding these items, the non-GAAP net loss per share was $.28 for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2009. GAAP net loss for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2008 included $82.0 million of amortization, stock-based compensation, restructuring charges, impairment charges and related tax adjustments. Excluding these items, the non-GAAP net loss per share was $.42 for the first nine months of 2008.

The company's cash balance on September 30, 2009 was $103.0 million, or approximately $2.76 per share. The company paid out approximately $4.9 million in cash in the third quarter related to restructuring activities.

Avid also announced that its Audit Committee is overseeing an investigation concerning the manner in which revenue was recognized on certain shipments of Audio products near the end of previous quarters from certain warehouses outside the United States. Based on the current progress of the investigation, Avid believes that there have been errors that affected the timing but not the amount of revenue recognized, and that correction of the errors likely will not have a material impact on its financial statements for the current or any prior period. This investigation was only recently commenced. Avid's expectations concerning the nature and materiality of these or any other errors are subject to change based on the final outcome of the investigation.
Use of Non-GAAP Financial Measures

This press release contains 'non-GAAP financial measures' under the rules of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This non-GAAP information supplements, and is not intended to represent a measure of performance in accordance with, disclosures required by generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP. The reconciliation for net income (loss) and earnings (loss) per share for the three- and nine-month periods ended September 30, 2009 and 2008 are in the tables attached to this press release.

The company uses non-GAAP financial measures internally to manage its business, for example, in establishing its annual operating budget, in assessing segment operating performance and for measuring performance under employee incentive compensation plans. Non-GAAP financial measures are used by management in its operating and financial decision-making because management believes these measures reflect the company's ongoing business in a manner that allows meaningful period-to-period comparisons. Accordingly, the company believes it is useful for investors and others to review both GAAP and non-GAAP measures in order to (a) understand and evaluate the company's current operating performance and future prospects in the same manner as management does and (b) compare in a consistent manner the company's current financial results with past financial results. The primary limitations associated with the company's use of non-GAAP financial measures are that these measures may not be directly comparable to the amounts reported by other companies and they do not include all items of income and expense that affect the company's operations. The company's management compensates for these limitations by considering the company's financial results as determined in accordance with GAAP and by providing a detailed reconciliation of the non-GAAP financial measures to the most directly comparable GAAP measures in this press release.
Conference Call

A conference call to discuss Avid's third quarter 2009 financial results will be held today, October 22, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. ET. The call will be open to the public and can be accessed by dialing 719.457.2617 and referencing confirmation code 4569475. The call and subsequent replay will also be available on Avid's website. To listen via this alternative, go to the Investors tab at http://www.avid.com/ for complete details prior to the start of the conference call.
Use of Forward-Looking Statements

The above release is subject to the completion and results of the audit committee's investigation described above and the completion and filing of our Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q. This release includes forward-looking statements, as defined by the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, about the anticipated impact of the audit committee's investigation described above, and these statements are subject to the outcome of such investigation. This release also makes forward-looking statements about Avid's performance. There are a number of factors that could cause actual events or results to differ materially from those indicated by such forward-looking statements, such as Avid's ability to execute on its corporate strategy and meet customer needs, general economic conditions, competitive factors, pricing pressures, delays in product shipments and other important events and factors disclosed previously and from time to time in Avid's filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, the forward-looking statements contained herein represent Avid's estimates only as of today and should not be relied upon as representing the company's estimates as of any subsequent date. Diverse Media Group, Inc. is the parent company that emerged as an outgrowth of Diverse Talent Group,Inc. (DTG). DTG was incorporated in the year 2000, but has roots going back 27 years as a talent agency representing artists in motion pictures, television, radio, and commercials. DTG is ranked in the top ten among Hollywood's most influential agencies. Diverse Media Group, Inc. is expanding upon those years of experience to create a multi-tiered organization which creates content, owns and operates distribution channels, and pioneers methods of packaging entertainment products and services.

The full special report on the company appears today at http://www.stockshaven.com/a-new-spotlight-on-diverse-media-group-pinkdvme-pk/

Disclosure: Long DVME

To feature a publicly traded company in StocksHaven.com Alerts or as a fully profiled company, email us at michaelvlaicu@stockshaven.com or visit http://www.stockshaven.com/ir_contract/ for more info

###

About MiV Investments Inc.

MiV Investments Inc. can be found at StocksHaven.com.

Shoulder-mount model and DVCAM Recording Address Specific Needs of Production Community

PARK RIDGE, N.J.– The expanding family of Sony's XDCAM EX™ video products now includes two new camcorders that deliver new levels of creativity and flexibility for solid-state digital production.

The products include Sony's first 2/3-inch CMOS memory camcorder, the shoulder-mount model PMW-350, and the PMW-EX1R, which adds DVCAM™ recording capability as well as numerous enhancements directly resulting from customer feedback.

'Since it was first introduced, Sony designed the XDCAM EX series to be flexible enough to grow and expand as our customers' production needs change,' said Bob Ott, vice president, broadcast and professional audio/video products group at Sony Electronics. 'These new products redefine solid-state production, with improvements achieved in features, performance, and ergonomics.'

The full shoulder-mount PMW-350 camcorder has three 2/3-inch Exmor™ full HD 1920x1080 CMOS imagers, and a sensitivity of F12. It is studio-configurable, with timecode in/out, genlock in, and HD-SDI and HDMI out. The camcorder also features a DVCAM recording option.

Its design offers professionals the best of both worlds in shoulder-mount applications: a low center of gravity and light weight to ensure stability, while maintaining a familiar, conventional operational UI layout.

With the lens-packaged model, PMW-350K, users can easily switch between auto and manual focus with a16x zoom 2/3-inch bayonet mount lens. It also offers automatic lens aberration compensation (ALAC); independent focus, zoom, iris rings; auto focus mode, manual focus assist and focal length of f 8~128mm (31.5 ~ 503mm on 35mm lens).

The PMW-EX1R, the successor to Sony's first entry into memory recording – the PMW-EX1 – adds DVCAM recording capability, as well as an HDMI output, a higher-resolution viewfinder, cache recording, and one-push auto iris.

Like its new shoulder-mount counterpart, the PMW-EX1R features a range of ergonomic enhancements, including an improved hand grip for better balance, one-click S&Q mode and easy-to-access switches.

Additional features of the EX1R include: smooth handle zoom start/stop, and an image inversion feature that reverses an image upside down and left/right for a depth of field adaptor.

To enhance editing interoperability with Sony's XDCAM HD 422 camcorders, both the PMW-350 and PMW-EX1R camcorders feature 1440x1080 recording mode at 35Mbps.

Sony is also delivering new solid-state memory choices to complement these new camcorders. An affordable series of Sony's SxS™ memory cards, SxS-1™ (model SBS-32G1, 32 GB) offers 800 Mbps transfer speed and supports a wide range of motion.

With an available adapter, model MEAD-MS01, Sony's Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo™ HX Series media can also be used in the PMW-350 and PMW-EX1R as an 'emergency' recording option (does not support slow motion of S&Q mode). Compatible models include: MS-HX32G (32GB), MS-HX16G (16GB), and MS-HX8G (8GB). Sony's current camcorder models, PMW-EX1 and PMW-EX3, as well as the PMW-EX30 deck, are also planned to be compatible with the new SxS-1 and Memory Stick media, through a software version upgrade available in early 2010.

A hard-disk recording unit, model PHU-120K, offers a recording capacity of 120 GB. The new PXU-MS240 mobile storage unit can be used to transfer data from SxS memory cards to the unit for nearly continuous back-up or off-load of video clips. The unit stores content on a removable hard disk drive (HDD) cartridge, model PXU-HC240, which can store up to 240 GB of data or up to 17 hours of content in SP mode.

The software supplied with the new camcorders, Clip Browser, is also being updated to version 2.6. It features a range of new functions, including: support for new recording formats 1440x1080 (HQ), DV-AVI, and four-channel audio.

Since the XDCAM EX camcorders record acquisition parameters such as zoom, focus and iris, the new version of Clip Browser enables users to browse metadata while viewing clips. The software now offers a feature that automatically detects and corrects 'flash bands' occurring in frames, and a manual mode allows users to select the frames to correct by using a 'preview' function.

The following is suggested list pricing and planned availability for the new products:

    * PMW-350K (with lens), $22,000, January, 2010
* PMW-350L (without lens), $20,500, January, 2010
* PMW-EX1R, $7,790, December, 2009
* MEAD-MS01, $120, December, 2009

— WebWireID106194 —

Business Announcements

Consumer Electronics

Film and Motion Picture

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

www.baeblemusic.com just released a new concert video featuring Wavves Live at The Market Hotel. Wavves bring their slackadaisical, SoCal power punk to a mosh minded get together at Brooklyn's Market Hotel. Watch the entire concert at http://www.baeblemusic.com/concertvideo/The-Market-Hotel/Wavves.html.

Baeble editor David Pitz said this about the concert: 'Filmed at the Market Hotel, the broken, busted, and booze drenched domicile provided the perfect sort of setting for a dirty, Friday night of slap happy thrills in Bushwick Brooklyn. Here, crusty old sheets flank the makeshift stage, towers of amps threaten to topple all those below, unintentional peaking eye holes dot the walls, and I swear there lay death traps in the worn wood flooring. One heavy set move and a lightning fast plummet to the depths below seems like a distinct possibility. We're thrilled to bring you Wavves' entire set in all its screaming guitar and machine gun drum glory.'

About Baeble Music

Baeble Music is an online destination for free live music. Founded in 2006, Baeble lays claim to an ever growing library of full-length concerts from today's hottest artists, enabling those from outside the largest markets to share in a unique live music experience of their favorite emerging bands. We bring to our loyal audience artists that we think are hot and emerging and then stream their full-length concerts for free. We offer free single song downloads from each concert on our Baeble Podcast on every concert page. As well, we offer users the option to purchase full concert DVDs and high quality downloads directly from our site, or through our retail partners, Amazon and The Orchard.

Want to go to the front row of your favorite shows? Watch as many free live concerts as you want and then view pictures from the show in our professionally shot photo albums. Deepen your experience through our expert insight into the Indie music scene including blog posts, feature articles, interviews and album and concert reviews.

— WebWireID106180 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Multimedia / Online / Internet

Music

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

The popularity of the show has been witnessed with a strong increase in ratings year over year.

'This year's finalists are exceptionally talented, and perhaps the strongest group we've had since the beginning,' said Subroto Bhattacharya, CEO, Zee TV USA (Americas). 'We applaud all the contestants who've made the show one of the most popular on our network, and along with the rest of Zee's audience, we anxiously await to see who will be crowned this year's champ.'

This season finale will also celebrate the 1000th episode of SRGMP, representing one of the biggest achievements in the history of talent singing show. Along with the finalists, the final episode of Lil Champs will feature several major celebrities from Zee TV's network including Ankita Lokehande from 'Pavitra Rishta,' Ratan Rajput 'Laali from Agle Janam' and performances by cast members of London Dreams, the upcoming Bollywood musical directed by Vipul Shah.

'Lil Champs' brings together the wonder of childhood with the excitement of musical performance and allows the younger set to express themselves through friendly competition. With this show, Zee TV continues to celebrate a child's intrinsic talent by giving them a chance to compete on a worldwide platform, and unprecedented exposure and experience.

The show is hosted by 10-year old, Dhairya Sonecha, and six-year old, Afsha Musani. Dhairya is a very popular child actor in India, most notably from films such as 'Babul,' 'Partner,' and 'Tahaan.' A singer and former 'Lil Champs contestant herself, Afsha was selected to host the show instead of acting as a participant when the judges noted her confidence and charm during auditions. Both Dhairya and Afsha are the youngest reality show hosts on television!

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs will be replaced by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge, which airs from 7:00pm ET to 10:30pm ET on Friday, October 30th and 12:30pm ET to 2:00pm ET on Saturday, October 31st.

About Zee TV USA, Inc.

Zee – the name that has become synonymous with entertainment – has been a dominant player in broadcasting content for more than 17 years in the national and international space. As an Indian channel, Zee is committed to supporting the values and cultures that appeal to South Asians across the globe. With many firsts already associated with its name, Zee has also become a pioneer in the international space, refurbishing its flagship channel to reach out to the South Asian Diaspora worldwide.

International operations began in July 1998 for USA. And since then there has been no looking back. The team built Zee into a strong household name in the Americas, currently reaching out to more than 2 million viewers, and it has been an undisputed leader in the market for 10 years.

Not only did the channel grow and create a strong foothold in the market, it has also been responsible for evolving to the needs of the market for content across genres and languages. Consequently the team launched channels that cater to a noticeably wide audience spectrum. Channels like Zee Cinema (Bollywood movie channel), Alpha Punjabi (Punjabi general entertainment channel), and Zee Sports (sports channel) were launched in the US market.

After successfully launching these channels, Zee TV USA has ventured into producing content locally to reach deeper into the South Asian Diaspora, while making them feel closer to their roots. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (SRGMP) came into being 12 years ago and Indian television history has no other program parallel to this. Last year (2008), for the first time ever SRGMP was produced in an international market (USA) and has quickly become one of the highest rated shows on Indian television. Zee's legacy continues with other initiatives like Zee Carnival and many more in the pipeline, which have all contributed to Zee's position as the undisputed leader in South Asian entertainment.

# # #

— WebWireID106169 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

Lifestyle / Society

Television

Youth / Children

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

NCR SelfServ Entertainment 2381 to broaden BLOCKBUSTER Express deployments, offering enhanced access to convenience store and smaller-footprint store locations

DULUTH, Ga. – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR ) today launched its first outdoor DVD-rental kiosk, the NCR SelfServ Entertainment 2381. Able to hold as many as 950 DVDs, this weather-protected outdoor kiosk is the most secure and highest-capacity outdoor DVD-rental kiosk in the industry. Through its new outdoor kiosk, NCR will be able to extend its deployment of BLOCKBUSTER Express™-branded DVD-rental kiosks to more convenience store and smaller-footprint, 24-hour retail locations.

Beyond its BLOCKBUSTER Express deployment, the SelfServ Entertainment 2381 can be used by retailers and operators to automate cased rental and packaged sell-through of media titles in a 24-hour, outdoor setting.

The SelfServ Entertainment 2381 features the latest self-service technology from NCR, including a 19' touchscreen display that is specially designed for viewing in sunlight. An optional 26' LCD screen at the top of the unit can be used as digital signage for inventory promotion or brand advertising, and all units are fitted with ATM-grade anti-skimming magnetic stripe reader (MSR) to help prevent fraud. Beyond these standard features, the SelfServ Entertainment 2381 is built with the future in mind, as its flexible architecture enables NCR to easily upgrade units with new technologies when they are ready to be deployed – such as the digital download of video files and a barcode scanner for age verification using drivers licenses.

'Each day, consumers around the world conduct more than 60 million transactions on NCR devices, making us the global leader in self-service technology. We've used our knowledge of consumer self-service technology to make the SelfServ Entertainment 2381 the most secure and the highest-capacity outdoor kiosk on the market,' said Alex Camara, vice president and general manager, NCR Entertainment. 'This new technology will enable us to work with even more partners as we roll out our BLOCKBUSTER Express-branded DVD-rental kiosks to new locations, including convenience stores and gas stations. Consumers will benefit from easier access to their favorite new release and classic DVDs in accessible, 24-hour locations.'

NCR expects to invest as much as $60 million in 2009 to build out its DVD-rental kiosk operations. The company expects to deploy more than 2,500 kiosks in 2009 for a total of 10,000 kiosks by mid-year 2010.

Consumers can rent new release and classic DVD titles from BLOCKBUSTER Express kiosks for $1 per night at conveniently located retail locations, including grocery stores, convenience stores and other retailers. Earlier this month, NCR announced it was bringing BLOCKBUSTER Express to Tedeschi Food Shops, a 188 convenience store chain located in New England.

NCR will be demoing the new kiosk at the NACS Show in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 20-22 in booth #1235.

— WebWireID106129 —

Business Announcements

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds

A new study by Sky+HD and Professor Kim A. Bard from the University of Portsmouth has revealed the science behind why movies have us reaching the tissues.

Through identifying the key factors which set tears rolling, Professor Bard can now unveil the top ten movie tearjerkers of all time with 'Beaches' taking the top spot and explain how watching them in more detail in high definition can make us cry even more.

Professor Bard, a psychologist at the Centre of the Study of Emotion at the University of Portsmouth, analysed a selection of movies in both HD and standard definition identifying four key triggers that set lips quivering and eyes streaming. These include how often the characters wept (Tear Count), the overall sadness of the movie (Sadness Index) and the underlying positive message of the film (Inspirational Index), all moderated by the degree of happiness experienced (Happy Highs). Her study also revealed how, when used in the right combination, these elements can produce an intensive emotional experience and that is intensified even further when movies are watched in high definition.

Professor Bard said: "Watching tearjerkers in high definition is more emotive than standard viewing because with high definition the actions of the face associated with sadness and with teariness are much more clearly evident.

"This ranges from the very subtle drawing in and downward movements of the inner eyebrows and the glistening of tears, to the more obvious full crying face. In high definition, each teardrop as well as the tracks of tears streaming down the face are more visible, engendering sadness and even tears in ourselves through the dual process of facial mimicry, where we mimic the character's expression on our own face, leading to emotion contagion, where we feel the associated emotion to the expression being mimicked."

Beaches came out at the top of the survey followed closely by The Colour Purple, Schindler's List and Philadelphia.

Michelle Golding from Sky+HD said: "There's no better way to watch a movie at home than in high definition. Sky+HD doesn't just make images clearer, it makes the whole experience more intense."

About Sky
Sky TV operates the most comprehensive multichannel, multi-platform television service in the UK and Ireland. More than 9.4 million homes enjoy an unprecedented choice of movies, news, entertainment and sports channels. Sky continues to break new ground with its own portfolio of channels: Sky Movies, Sky1 combines its commitment to UK production with the best of the US; Sky Arts continues to embrace new audiences as the UK's only dedicated arts channel brand; Sky Sports is still raising the bar in sports broadcasting; and Sky News remains a pioneer in multiplatform television news.

More than 5 million Sky homes now enjoy the control and flexibility of Sky+ and 1.3 million homes have already joined Sky+HD, which provides access to 34 dedicated HD channels. Sky is also the UK's fastest growing broadband and fixed-telephony provider.

PR Contact:
Victoria Etaghene
BSKYB
Grant Way
Isleworth
Middlesex
TW7 5QD
0207 705 3000
sky.com

— WebWireID105972 —

Entertainment

Film and Motion Picture

WebWire® Copyright © 2009 Warmtone Corp. | Use of this content is subject to our Terms of Service | More Feeds
