A new review website has recently been launched by eminent photographer and video composer Martin Hurley. His website, BestLCDprojectors.com, will provide the latest information on different projectors from a unique point of view. The website has been conceived with the objective of providing an unbiased idea to help buyers make an informed decision. The website will review the latest and best projectors in the market including portable and HDTV projectors. As an avid photographer, Hurley understands the beauty of a good image and plans to pass on his knowledge and expertise through content and videos. To know more about Martin Hurley and his website, please visit http://bestLCDprojectors.com.

With changing times, internet popularity has increased by leaps and bounds. Review websites now play a major role in influencing buying decisions for buyers and shoppers worldwide. However, there is often doubt to a website's authenticity. Hurley has taken utmost care to create a review website with a difference. During the official launch of the website, he said: 'This site is for those who just want to enjoy the fun of home entertainment. No need to be a technical wizard to understand the reviews.' Another noteworthy point is that Hurley has completely changed the traditional drab way of reviewing a product by adding an element of fun to his reviews.

Apart from finding relevant information on the best projector brands, website visitors can also comment or request expert opinion from Hurley on the LCD projector reviews. Talking about his future plans, Hurley said: 'Facebook and Twitter pages are in our wish list and will be launched shortly.' He also added that new projector reviews will be added regularly to keep readers abreast with the latest launches and developments in the field.

It's a little-known fact, but in certain parts of the world today, human beings are being cut open while alive and their body parts removed and sold for profit. Most people would find this revelation to be shocking and, in fact, hard to believe in this day and age of so-called enlightenment in the modern society in which we like to imagine that we inhabit. However, in countries such as China and Colombia this practice is widespread and the helpless victims who lose their body parts unwillingly in this way have no recourse to justice. It is, in fact, a form of animal husbandry where human beings are cultivated, not as individuals, but, rather, for the essential parts of them, namely, in the main, their kidneys and livers. A grim, black market trade in body parts is in operation and in some cases it's costing unsuspecting victims the ultimate price - their lives.

While such practices may induce horror and revulsion in the minds of most reasonable people, it is not an entirely new phenomenon. Two hundred years in Scotland, the infamous Burke and Hare plied their trade in Edinburgh's Old Town, murdering at least sixteen people and selling their bodies to the medical school of Dr. Robert Knox where they were dissected in order to teach medical students. At that time, the law forbade the dissection of bodies other than that of executed criminals and there were simply not enough bodies available to supply the ever-growing needs of the teaching schools who taught anatomy to aspiring doctors and surgeons.

Burke and Hare devised a ready solution to this problem in Edinburgh by simply murdering their victims and selling them to the anatomy school in a no-questions-asked deal. No-one was exempt from their murderous spree, including the elderly, prostitutes, the disabled and even children. When the villains were finally caught, the citizens of Edinburgh were horrified to discover the nefarious deeds which had been happening in their own city.

A Scottish media company, Orickle Limited, has produced a documentary recalling the dreadful crimes of Burke and Hare and the circumstances surrounding the events of their day. Leona Tyrie, producer of 'The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth about Anatomy Murder' explains, "Burke and Hare have down in history and in popular culture as grave robbers but, in fact, there is no evidence that they ever robbed a single grave, they preferred the easy route of murdering their victims in order to sell their bodies for dissection and easy profit. Most people would believe that those days are confined to the pages of history and that in this modern age those kinds of practices would be unthinkable. However, research on the subject would point to the fact that, unbelievably, vulnerable people in the world today are still being cut open and their organs are being harvested and sold for gain.'

Said Leona, 'It's appalling to imagine that this is still going on in the world today and that most people are completely unaware of its existence. It ought to act as a real wake-up call to the world that the horrible days of Burke and Hare have never truly gone away'.

Monkeybars, a social marketplace to discover, buy and share innovative content, today officially welcomes recording artist Sara Skinnner to the new social community that enables artists and fans to earn meaningful royalties by recommending a song, film or book to their friends online – something most people already do daily. Ms. Skinner has three songs currently available for sale in Monkeybars, and will debut her first album on the site in late February.

As an independent artist, Skinner has personally experienced the pain associated with trying to distribute her music and show appreciation for her to her loyal fans. Prior to Monkeybars, to distribute her music, Skinner had to choose between giving it away for free, or pay the majority of her profits to various middlemen. (Some of the most popular internet music sites pay the original artist only a fraction of a penny.) Monkeybars introduces the first e- and m-commerce platform that enables artists to monetize and distribute content directly while rewarding their fans with a portion of the royalties for sharing and recommending it. On Monkeybars, Skinner will be able to directly control all aspects of her career. She is responsible for choosing what to make available; setting the price and rewards on her own, unique content; and interacting with her fans and getting their feedback all through the site.

'I love all of my fans, and it's really awesome that now I can actually reward them for promoting my music online instead of just saying 'thanks'.' said Skinner. 'Launching a music career is super stressful, but Monkeybars is the perfect avenue for me to promote my music to my fans while motivating them to want to share it as well. I also love how I can connect and interact personally with my fans on Monkeybars and receive all of their feedback that will make me a better artist.'

How Monkeybars Works
Monkeybars is not just a new social network or a new commerce site. Rather, it complements existing relationships on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc., to allow users to make more meaningful recommendations to their friends. After joining Monkeybars, content providers can grow their community and upload their own unique content—including music, film, e-books, and art—for sale in the Monkeybars Market and set the price points for each piece of content, as well as the monetary amount of royalties the artist wishes to 'reward' the community. Then, for each purchase through the Monkeybars Social Graph Royalty Program™, the network of fan recommendations that led to the purchase is financially rewarded. Consumers joining the Monkeybars community can tap their existing social networks to recommend the content they find most interesting. Artists who join Monkeybars can build their community, connect directly with fans like never before, upload and sell their content and reward their fans.

'Sara's music is wonderful, and it's amazing that someone as talented as her still has trouble spreading her infectious voice,' said Monkeybars Founder, Robert Hayden. 'Monkeybars was created exactly for people like her; she deserves all the credit for her work, and her fans should be able to share in the joy with her.'

How to Join Monkeybars
To join the Monkeybars community, please visit www.monkeybars.net. Monkeybars values the feedback of its Beta community, will encourage engaged members to invite their friends and the Monkeybars development team may seek feedback to guide future releases.
About Sara Skinner
Sara Skinner, a 17-year-old singer/songwriter from Texas, has already begun to make a splash in the contemporary music scene. Having taught herself how to play the guitar and piano at an early age, Sara is able to easily translate her thoughts and emotions into music that grabs and holds the attention of her audiences!
What separates Sara from her peers is her drive to succeed; not only in music, but in all areas of her life! Sara is among the top of her class and continues to remain purpose-driven and goal-oriented in both music and academics. Her 'can do' attitude is not only responsible for her ability to pick up new instruments with ease, but also her ability to design her own marketing and promotional materials, record her own demos and produce her own videos! Sara's dynamic, powerful voice in combination with her songwriting ability and captivating performances on stage puts Sara among the upper echelon of young up-and-coming pop artists!
'Sara has incredible potential ' -Renee Grant Williams, Vocal Coach – Garth Brooks, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Tim Mcgraw
'Sara is a rock show!' -Michael Turner, Disney, Nascar, Broadway
'You have an amazing voice and such beautiful runs throughout the tract.' -Music Clout, Los Angeles, CA
'The first few words you sang, you had it hands down.' -Mike Turney, Michael Turney Agency, ArkLaTex's Got Talent Bossier City, LA
'You sound great, now get your Texas hustle on!' -Aaron Accetta, Producer/Songwriter – Forever the Sickest Kids, Aaron Carter, Brooke Hogan
'Acoustic, Electric, Piano, a cover or live…Skinner's music is electrifying.' -Four States Living Magazine
About Monkeybars
Monkeybars is a social marketplace that connects artists and their fans like never before. Only Monkeybars rewards fans for discovering and sharing the content they love across their dynamic social networks through its unique Social Graph Royalty Program ™. Monkeybars provides artists a channel that incentivizes fans to accelerate distribution of their content while artists maintain control of profits and rights. Artists can directly interact on Monkeybars with their fan base and reward their loyalty and support.

The Co-operative business model is set to hit the big screen in a major new movie telling the inspirational story of the birth of co-operation.

The 52 minute feature-film is funded by The Co-operative Group - whose own origins trace back to the original 'Rochdale Pioneers' – and has been commissioned to celebrate the United Nations International Year of Co-operatives, 2012.

The new movie – 'The Rochdale Pioneers' – tells of 28 working men whose vision for a better social order inspired them to form the Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society in 1844 – recognised as the birth of the co-operative movement.

After a year's trading (1845) membership had increased almost three-fold and the Pioneers' fame soon spread overseas - today there are one billion members of co-operatives worldwide and, in the UK alone sector turnover exceeds £33 Billion.

Mark Robinson-Field, The Co-operative's National Co-operative and Membership Manager, said: 'In 1844 the original Pioneers set out the ideals which became the basis for the principles on which co-operatives around the world still operate to this day.

'This year's activities to mark the International Year of Co-operatives will highlight the significant contribution of co-operatives to world-wide socio-economic development.

'And, with one billion members of co-operatives world-wide and the sector enjoying global attention, we believe the time is right for this inspirational story to be re-told.'

Inspired by the 1944 film 'Men of Rochdale', this re-telling is being made by The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy.

The cast includes John Henshaw – known for roles in Early Doors, Born and Bred, Looking for Eric and, Terry Pratchett's Going Postal – who plays John Holt, one of the original members of The Rochdale Society of Equitable Pioneers. As well as stage and TV actor John McArdle – known for roles in Brookside, Merseybeat and Gallowglass – who plays Dr Dunlop, who agreed to rent his premises, an old woollen warehouse, to the Rochdale Pioneers.

Kevin Atkinson, Operations Director of The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy and producer for the new film, said: 'This is an exciting project which, through the medium of film, will bring the spirit, heart and belief of the original pioneers to a brand new audience.'

The film will be distributed internationally and plans are in place for it to be screened at the co-operative world festival and expo at Manchester Central in autumn 2012.

To follow the progress of the film or for more information visit www.co-operative.coop/2012 Additional Information:

Why the 'Pioneers' did what they did: In 1844, times were hard and the poorer people had to be careful not to spend more money than was necessary, but private shopkeepers often charged excessive prices and adulterated their goods – in other words, they mixed sand with oatmeal and plaster of Paris with flour. Sometimes, they gave false weights and measures. The Pioneers thought that a shop actually owned by its customers was the best means of consumer protection and it would also be beneficial in that profits would go back to the customer-members in the form of a dividend instead of going into the pockets of private shopkeepers. Members of the society would be able to buy pure, wholesome food that was weighed and measured fairly and the profits or surplus would be divided fairly between them based on the amount that they spent at the shop. The fame of the Rochdale Pioneers soon spread overseas and they received visitors from all over the world who wanted to witness how a co-operative was being successfully run. A visitor's book was kept from the 1860s and shows the range of their influence with visitors from Germany, Spain, Russia and Japan.

UK co-operative sector: In the UK, there are 5,450 independent co-operative businesses. Together they have a combined turnover of over £33 billion and have outperformed the UK economy as a whole, growing by 21% since the start of the credit crunch in 2008. They employ almost ¼ million people and, 12.8 million people – over one in five of the UK population – are members of co-operatives. Co-operative Group – which can trace its origins back to the original Pioneers – is at the forefront of this resurgence in the sector, setting up The Co-operative Enterprise Hub to provide free advice and consultancy to communities rediscovering the benefits of self-help and mutual ownership – it has supported the creation and growth of over 700 member-owned enterprises across the UK, from pubs to grocers, cafes to football clubs, since it began as a pilot scheme in 2009.

The Co-operative Group is the UK's largest member-owned organisation with six million members. It is the UK's fifth biggest food retailer, the leading convenience store operator and a major financial services provider, operating The Co-operative Bank, Britannia and The Co-operative Insurance. Among its other businesses are the number one funeral services provider and Britain's largest farming operation. As well as having clear financial and operational objectives, the Group has also set out its social and sustainability goals in its groundbreaking Ethical Plan, which specifies almost 50 commitments in these areas. The Group operates 4,800 retail trading outlets, employs more than 106,000 people and has an annual turnover of more than £13bn. Further information is available at www.co-operative.coop

The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives, highlighting the contribution of co-operatives to socio-economic development, particularly their impact on poverty reduction, employment generation and social integration. The Year will highlight the strengths of the co-operative business model as an alternative means of doing business and furthering socioeconomic development. With the theme of 'Co-operative Enterprises Build a Better World', the Year seeks to encourage the growth and establishment of co-operatives all over the world. It also encourages individuals, communities and governments to recognise the agency of co-operatives in helping to achieve internationally agreed upon development goals, such as the Millennium Development Goals.

The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy (BYFA) – itself a co-operative - offers students a unique and hands-on film-making experience. Mentored by professionals from film and education, students are offered opportunities in everything from acting to make-up and, from wardrobe to camera and post-production to experience all of the thrills and challenges of professional feature-film production.

London UK (January 16th 2012) - UK songwriter Natalie McCool (http://www.nataliemccool.co.uk) who once jammed with Sir Paul McCartney is achieving great success with her songs being played on National radio and television.

Natalie commented 'Sir Paul is such a nice guy and totally down to earth, when I jammed with him he made me feel completely at ease.' Later this year Natalie supports Joan Armatrading at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester UK; a prestigious gig for such a young songwriter. 'It's an absolute honour to support Joan; like Sir Paul McCartney she is a music legend,' said Natalie.

Natalie has recently released a double A side with Grammy Award winning producer Steve Levine's London label 'Hubris Records', consisting of tracks 'Fortune' and 'On Fire'. Levine signed this young prodigy after her winning MIBI award show performance (Natalie being nominated by the leading lights of the UK music scene including Harvey Goldsmith CBE and Coldplay's Chris Martin). It's a rare treat from the pop world to produce an artist whose music possesses such honesty and uniqueness.

Natalie has written and performed her own songs from a young age - songs embodied with resonant lyrical metaphor such as '....Oh! what use is silver?/what good comes of gold?/built myself a temple/trapped behind the walls' As well as her music being described as 'dark, edgy and exciting to listen to' and 'simply unmistakable', she can count pop legend Boy George and BBC favourite Steven Fry as her supporters on Twitter.

She will support Joan Armatrading at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester UK, November 4th 2012. Also lined up in her UK tour schedule is a support slot for Sandi Thom in Liverpool on February 12th 2012.

It has recently been reported in the media that the mummified remains of a child thought lost by the University of Maryland School of Medicine has been found and returned to them after an absence of more than five years.

The remains are part of the Burns Collection, an accumulation of carefully-prepared anatomical specimens which are over two hundred years old and were collected by the eminent Scottish anatomist, Allen Burns, and transported from Scotland to the U.S.A. where they have remained in the care of the University of Maryland School of Medicine ever since. The collection is currently under the care of Dr. Ronn Wade, Director of the Anatomical Services Division of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, who is also Director of the Maryland State Anatomy Board. This particular mummy went missing decades ago and then, some five years ago, was put up for sale on Ebay which eventually led to its identification and recovery. It had been languishing in police custody prior to its return to the University.

However, the attempt to sell bodies for financial gain is nothing new according to Leona Tyrie, producer of 'The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth about Anatomy Murder', a DVD documentary produced by Orickle Limited, a Scottish media company. As Leona explains, 'In the 1820's, the city of Edinburgh in Scotland witnessed the horrific crimes of William Burke and William Hare, who murdered local citizens, young and old, and sold their bodies to a local medical school for dissection, pocketing the money for the proceeds of their crimes. In those days medicine was really in its infancy and there was an explosion in the numbers of students training to be doctors, surgeons and anatomists. However, only the bodies of executed criminals could be used for dissection and there simply weren't enough bodies to go around. Burke and Hare spotted a gap in the market and local people in Edinburgh suddenly started to disappear, only to re-appear, dead, on the anatomist's slab. Of course, because of the extreme need for fresh bodies upon which to practice, no-one asked any questions and thus the killing spree continued unabated.'

'It might have gone on indefinitely', explained Leona, 'but for the fact that Burke and Hare grew complacent and began to make mistakes which led to their arrest and imprisonment. '

' I spent many hours researching the facts for this documentary and it includes a specially filmed section devoted to the bodies in the Burns collection together with expert commentary from Dr. Ronn Wade. It was during my research for this documentary,' continued Leona, 'that I discovered that the selling of body parts for profit still continues to this day in certain parts of the world and that truly is shocking. It's a fact of which most people are completely unaware, as I was too before my research. We like to believe that the days of Burke and Hare are long gone and that we live in much more enlightened times. Sadly however that is just not the case and it's truly frightening to discover that in some parts of the world life is still as cheap now as it was two hundred years ago'.

The new John Landis film 'Burke and Hare' was released in the U.S. a few weeks ago to eager American cinema-goers, desperate to see the latest offering from a film director with iconic status and who had been off centre stage for such a long time. For those that missed the American screenings in September the movie was released on DVD on 20th December. But is this film worth the wait? And how will American audiences perceive a film which raises laughs over such a macabre subject as the murder of innocent people?

Burke and Hare' was released to audiences in the U.K. last year to mixed reviews. One of the criticisms there so far has been the fact that Landis has taken a horrifically true story and put a comedy spin on it to try to raise laughs for a modern audience. Many who have seen the film question the morality of making light of the gruesome murder of innocent people for profit, despite the fact that those murders were committed nearly two centuries ago.

So, who were Burke and Hare? William Burke and William Hare were two Irish immigrants who came to Scotland in the early part of the 19th century to work as labourers on the construction of the Union Canal. They settled in Edinburgh and their names have passed into infamy as Scotland's most prolific serial killers, who murdered at least sixteen innocent people and sold their bodies to the local anatomy school for dissection. Their shocking crimes, referred to as the West Port murders, outraged the people of Scotland, a fact which is portrayed in a new documentary by Orickle Limited, a Scottish-based media company which sets out to tell the truly horrifying story of the Edinburgh murderers.

Said Leona Tyrie, producer of 'The Body Merchants: The Shocking Truth About Anatomy Murder', 'People watching the Landis film about Burke and Hare may find it to be a whimsical piece of entertainment but it bears no relation to the true story of events and gives the false impression that Burke and Hare were two hapless rogues when, in actual fact, they were callous, brutal murderers. They have gone down in history as grave robbers but the evidence suggests that they never robbed a single grave, preferring to murder their victims, young and old, in cold blood before selling them to the local anatomy school for dissection and simply for profit. The documentary seeks to tell the true story of events and also encompasses the reasons why there was such a shortage of bodies for medical students to practice upon.'

The documentary also focuses on the modern-day sale of body parts for profit and, as Leona explains, 'We like to imagine that the dark days of underworld trade in bodies has been confined to history but research shows that this nefarious practice still survives to this day in parts of the world and that truly is a chilling discovery.'

In Scotland, the subject of Burke and Hare is still an emotive issue two centuries later. If there are any living descendants of the murderous duo, they are wisely keeping quiet but the general opinion, at least in the U.K., seems to be that tackling such a subject matter in a comedic fashion is distasteful.

Time will tell whether American audiences who have no direct connection to the West Port murders will feel the same way.
