Seattle, USA. Sawlog prices have trended downward in most major markets in Western Europe the past two years in US dollar terms, but this trend was broken in the 4Q/12 when prices increased slightly mainly as a result of a weakening US dollar. In the local currencies, log prices were practically unchanged in the 4Q/12.

The biggest price declines have been seen in Sweden where pine sawlog prices fell over 15 percent from the 4Q/10 to the 4Q/12 in both the local currency and in US dollar terms. Spruce log prices have declined over 25 percent during the same time period. In Finland, Germany and Norway, prices have dropped a more modest 5-10 percent over the past two years, as reported by the Wood Resource Quarterly. Sawlog prices fell during 2012 because sawmills were cutting back production in response to the weaker demand for lumber throughout Europe.

While log prices have fallen in both US dollar terms and local currencies the past two years in Northern and Central Europe, prices for sawlogs in the 4Q/12 in Eastern European countries, including Estonia, Latvia and the Czech Republic, were generally higher than in 2011. This development has mainly come as a result of the relatively strong lumber export market which kept the log markets healthy.

The only major market in Eastern Europe where log prices have fallen has been Poland. From the 2Q/11 to 4Q/12, average prices have fallen over 20 percent and the country has now some of the lowest conifer sawlog prices in Europe, according to the Wood Resource Quarterly.

As a consequence of slowing lumber production, log trade declined in Europe during 2012, which also had a dampening impact on log prices on the continent. Net log imports to Western Europe fell from over 14 million m3 in 2011 to an estimated 10.8 million m3 in 2012. Much of the decline in imports was those from Russia and the Baltic States.

Sawlog prices might be close to the bottom in the 1Q/13, and they are likely to remain at these levels as long as the European demand for lumber continues to be weak. Despite the recent price declines, current price levels are higher than the ten-year average in all major markets throughout Europe.

Global pulpwood and timber market reporting is included in the 52-page quarterly publication Wood Resource Quarterly (WRQ).

Reflecting both national and local trends, new custom and semi-custom luxury homes are selling at a brisk pace in Heritage Hills, a successful residential community in south metro Denver's Lone Tree area.

2013 has been an excellent year for the Denver real estate market. Contributing to the strength of the local housing market is an increase in home prices nationwide. Median home prices improved 10.9% in May—the largest year-over-year increase since 2006. In addition to increasing home prices, the residential sales recovery in Denver is being bolstered by rising consumer confidence—at its highest point in 5 years—and historically low interest rates.

A Celebrity Communities development, Heritage Hills has sold all but seven custom home sites in The Summit at Heritage Hills. Another section of the attractive residential community, The Overlook has recorded nine sales in the community's semi-custom home collection. Since its opening in 2011, twenty-five homes have sold in The Overlook.

Says Celebrity Communities' principal, Dan Verdoorn, 'We are enjoying the renewed excitement about the local real estate market. It's great to see people able to sell their homes and enjoying the process of building a new home in Heritage Hills.'

Celebrity Communities has been a committed and loyal Denver area developer for over fifty years. 'We don't develop in other areas, we don't do commercial, we don't do anything except plan and thoughtfully develop outstanding Denver area neighborhoods. It's our sole passion,' said Celebrity Communities Principal Kurt Miller, adding, 'Heritage Hills has always been a sought-after community. We're working hard to meet the demand while keeping to our high standards of excellence in new home design and customer service.'

Celebrity Communities is focused on two well-established new home communities in the south Denver metro area: Lone Tree's Heritage Hills and Pradera in Parker. Each of these well-located luxury home neighborhoods features a variety of lots, inviting home styles and life-enriching community and area amenities, including an abundance of trails and open space, golf, tennis, shopping and dining and, of course, swimming pools.

Heritage Hills offers two collections of new luxury homes in a gated community in Douglas County, Colorado. The Summit offers custom homes from $1 million+, and The Overlook offers European-inspired semi-custom homes from the $800s. For more information about homes at Heritage Hills, visit heritagehillscolorado.com or call 303-706-0466

— WebWireID176141 —

Advertising / Marketing

Architecture / Construction / Building

Business Announcements

Lifestyle / Society

Real Estate

WebWire® | More Feeds

Garden Grove, CA, June 17, 2013

Arsenic is a naturally occurring element that is widely distributed in the earth's crust. People can at times be exposed to arsenic through tainted air, water and food. Exposure to higher-than-average levels of arsenic occurs mainly in the workplace, near hazardous waste sites and areas with high levels naturally occurring in soil, rocks and water.

Arsenic can combine with other elements such as oxygen, chlorine and sulfur to form inorganic arsenic compounds. Inorganic arsenic compounds were added to California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment's (OEHHA) list of chemicals known to the State of California to cause reproductive toxicity for purposes of Proposition 65 in 1987. Inorganic oxides from arsenic were later added to the list in 1997.

Arsenic can enter drinking water supplies from natural deposits in the earth or from agricultural and industrial practices. A large percentage of industrial arsenic in the U.S. has come from its use as a wood preservative, but arsenic has also been used in paints, dyes, metals, drugs, soaps and semi-conductors. Agricultural applications, mining and smelting can all contribute to arsenic releases into the environment.

'Nationally, the EPA has classified inorganic arsenic as a human carcinogen and has set limits on the amount of arsenic that industrial sources can release into the environment,' reported Michael Chapman, Laboratory Manager of LA Testing's Garden Grove facility. 'There are also permissible exposure limits for workers who may be exposed to arsenic. LA Testing offers arsenic testing services for the general public, industry and government regulators to protect people from the risks associated with exposure to elevated levels of this element.'

LA Testing recently sponsored a video about arsenic exposure risks in the home and work environment that can be seen at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIjNcli0kvA

To learn more about testing for arsenic or other environmental, health and safety issues, please visit www.LATesting.com, email info@LATesting.com or call (800) 755-1794.

About LA Testing and EMSL Analytical, Inc.
LA Testing and EMSL Analytical are providers of environmental testing services and products to professionals and the general public.

A wildfire in Colorado Spring, CO has forced 38,000 to evacuate, burned 473 homes, and has killed two, according to NBC News. The deadly fire covers about 25 square miles and is 65% percent contained as of Monday morning.

Three major wildfires burned in Colorado over the weekend, but the Black Forest fire has been classified as the most destructive on record in the state. In addition to 750 firefighters battling the flames, aircrafts are flying low and dropping flame-retardant chemicals. The military and national guard also joined in to fight against the fast moving fire.

When large amounts of smoke are released from a wildfire, the air becomes filled with combustion by-products such as soot, ash, and char. The smoke can travel long distances and cause damaging effects on properties and human health.

'Often times, property owners of smoke damaged properties have to show proof of damage before insurance providers will approve any repairs and remediation work on a property,' states EMSL's Materials Testing Laboratory Manager, Eugenia Mirica, Ph. D., 'EMSL Analytical is the nation's leading provider of smoke damage testing services and offers fire debris analysis to help settle insurance claims for property damage caused by a wildfire.'

Earlier this month, it was reported that parents of students who attend a middle school in the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens were voicing their concerns after learning of mold problems in their children's school. Just last month, Massachusetts state health inspectors were reported to have revisited a school in Lawrence, Massachusetts where the faculty had raised concerns over possible mold in their school.

Unfortunately, these are not isolated cases of problems due to mold in our nation's schools. Due to extreme weather events and the slow economy in many parts of the country, numerous school districts have seen their maintenance budgets cut as state and local budgets get squeezed. This has caused the postponement or elimination of preventative maintenance and capital projects that can often turn avoidable or minor water damage and indoor air quality (IAQ) issues into significant and costly problems.

With summer break observed in most schools right now, many school districts take this time of year to make improvements and resolve problems due to mold growth in their facilities. One product that has been used extensively to tackle mold issues in schools is MMR mold stain remover. MMR is ideal for schools because it is a safe, biodegradable and non-flammable commercial grade product that utilizes a powerful cleaning agent that penetrates soiled areas almost instantly, leaving surfaces clean and free from mold stains.

'Poor IAQ can cause illnesses with students and faculty requiring absence from school and can cause acute health symptoms that decrease performance while at school,' stated Chris Heller with FastMoldRemoval.com, the supplier of MMR and other mold abatement products. 'It's important to resolve the underlying issues associated with mold growth in any indoor environment to prevent its return. At FastMoldRemoval.com we offer MMR, microbial disinfectants, and the tools and personal protective equipment that can help to safely eliminate mold problems,' he continued.

An online video that showcases MMR's effectiveness and ease of use can be seen at:
http://youtu.be/Eqn64M-lPZw

To learn more about MMR and ways to safely eliminate mold problems, please visit http://www.FastMoldRemoval.com, email mmr@moldsolutionsintl.com or call 708-441-7982.

About Mold Solutions & FastMoldRemoval.com
Mold Solutions, owner of FastMoldRemoval.com, is a Frankfort, IL, based company. They manufacture MMR mold stain remover, the world's premier mold stain remover. MMR is a commercial grade mold and mildew stain remover formulated to immediately eliminate mold and mildew stains present on wood and other hard surfaces.

COVINGTON, Ky. and HELSINKI, Finland - Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH) and UPM today announced they have entered into a cooperative agreement to develop and commercialize products containing UPM's Biofibrils technology.

UPM Biofibrils are micro- and nanofibrillated cellulose products that can be used for shaping materials and giving them new characteristics. In this collaboration, UPM and Ashland will jointly study the use of biofibrils in a wide range of industrial application opportunities. For example, biofibrils might be used to improve the quality and performance of a broad array of polymer products that include coatings and construction materials, home and car care products, and energy drilling applications.

The collaboration marks a milestone for two companies with extensive expertise in cellulose technology. UPM has pursued research and development of biofibrils technology for several years and has a large portfolio of patent applications and production experience. Ashland has its own research and patents in microfibrillar cellulose technology.

"Our collaborative relationship with UPM provides an excellent opportunity to combine the UPM Biofibrils technology with Ashland's application expertise in order to bring new products and functionalities to our customers," said May Shana'a, vice president, Technology and Growth Strategy, Ashland Specialty Ingredients. "When we combine our strengths and know-how with experts offering new technologies that complement our product lines, we can deliver value-added performance to our customers."

"Innovation is a key component of Ashland's growth strategy, regardless of whether those ideas originate from within the ranks of Specialty Ingredients' 500-person global research team or from selected industry partners," added Walter Solomon, Ashland vice president and chief growth officer. "The most important thing is to take those ideas and develop them into commercially viable products that can help build our customers' businesses."

UPM Biofibrils technology is a result of a long-term research and development commitment. Cornerstones of UPM's Biofore strategy are the versatile use of renewable wood biomass combined with innovation and sustainability.

"UPM Biofibrils is a novel biomaterial that allows development of new fibre-based products with exciting properties for the UPM product portfolio. The collaboration with Ashland's global development team enables further development and commercialization of UPM Biofibrils in several industrial applications," said Esa Laurinsilta, director, UPM Biofibrils.

COLUMBIA, MD - June 17, 2013 - The Hughes Group , a leading provider of exhibits, event management and environments, today announced the development of a new model for conference economics,...

COLUMBIA, MD - June 17, 2013 - The Hughes Group, a leading provider of exhibits, event management and environments, today announced the development of a new model for conference economics, focused on content-driven, face-to-face communications and environments that generate better profitability and growth for organizers and sponsors of small-to-medium sized exhibitions.

In a shift away from traditional conference and exhibition models, the FutureShow® concept employs focused content and engagement between show organizers, sponsors, members/attendees, speakers and contributors to 'connect with success.' Show organizers can deliver increased value to all event participants, sponsors and exhibitors, at significantly lower costs, resulting in increased revenues, a higher net profit, and increased loyalty among sponsors and participants. To see a video example of how the FutureShow concept works, visit http://constellation1.com/thg/fsd/player.html.

The Hughes Group recently collaborated with Ed Jones of Constellation Communication Corp., a leading provider of planning and measurement support for event-related Return On Investment, to further develop the FutureShow concept.

'Ed Jones has a unique perspective on how the economics of face-to-face conferences and events work,' said Bob Hughes, president, the Hughes Group. 'He contributed a communications plan that makes the concept easy to understand.'

'The FutureShow is based on sound principles of mutual engagement among all entities in a unique conference environment,' commented Ed Jones, president, Constellation Communication Corp. 'It is an easy, effective solution for a conference that needs a lift. I am happy to help Bob communicate the value of this great concept to the many who will find it beneficial.'

The Hughes Group, a platinum sponsor of ExpoNext, in Baltimore June 20-21, invites all ExpoNext attendees to learn more about the FutureShow concept in booth 4. The Hughes Group may be contacted to arrange a discussion at the show.

About The Hughes Group
FutureShow® is the Hughes platform driving a new style of conferences, focused on content-driven, face-to-face communication, generating better value to attendants and exhibitors/sponsors.

The Hughes Group has 30 years of exhibit sales and design experience. In addition to the FutureShow®, The Hughes Group created the Xpressions display line of products, and manufacture and sell a new display system, Eventege®, with the aim of having a product that reduces the logistical costs of exhibits, exhibiting and producing shows by up to 50%. www.thehughesgroup.com

Linz

    * Order worth more than 100 million Euro
* Plant produces high quality cold strip for automotive industry
* Annual production capacity is 1.6 million tons.

Siemens Metals Technologies has won an order worth more than 100 million Euro from the Chinese Tangshan Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd. to supply a complete cold rolling complex. The plant will be built at the Tangshan location in the Hebei province. It includes a coupled pickling line-tandem cold mill (PLTCM), a continuous annealing line and a galvanizing line. The cold strip mill is designed for an annual production of 1.6 million tons of high-strength, high-quality steels for the Chinese automotive industry, underlining Tangshan's intention to further expand its market share in this segment. The first pickled and cold rolled strip is to be produced by December 2014 and production will be launched in 2015.

Siemens is engineering and supplying the mechanical, electrical and process control equipment for the cold strip mill. The PLTCM and the annealing and galvanizing lines are to share an integrated automation system that consists of basic (level 1) and process automation (level 2) and of process models developed specially for cold rolling mills. All parts of the plant can therefore be precisely coordinated, ensuring high availability and yield with uniformly high product quality.

The tandem mill will consist of five six-high rolling stands. High-strength steels, in particular, can be rolled within narrow tolerances. SmartCrown rolls and special actuators and closed-loop control systems will ensure the required flatness of the finished product. Input strips are 1.5 to 6 millimeters thick and their final thickness lies between 0.2 and 2.5 millimeters. Strips of 700 to 1,600 millimeters width are rolled.

The continuous annealing line has an annual capacity of 767,000 tons, while the galvanizing line's capacity is 416,000 tons per year. Both facilities generate steel strip with thicknesses of 0.2 to 2.5 millimeters and widths of between 700 and 1,600 millimeters.

All systems and components are derived from the Siroll CM and Siroll PL solution concepts for cold rolling mills and processing lines. Siemens is also handling installation supervision and commissioning of the cold strip mill.

Tangshan Iron and Steel belongs to the Hebei Iron and Steel Group, China's biggest steel producer with an annual production of around 44 million tons (2011). The Tangshan production location has been in existence for 70 years. In the past few years, Siemens has supplied an AOD converter, a vacuum decarburization system and a continuous galvanizing line to Tangshan and also linked up the tandem cold mill to the existing pickling line.

In the run-up to these mega events, Siemens has received orders of approximately 1 billion Euro for infrastructure projects. "These major sporting events will turn the world's spotlight on Brazil. We're looking forward to exciting games, powerful emotions and the people visiting our country. Whether in transportation, energy supply, the environment, healthcare, safety or security – we want our infrastructure solutions to help make the events a success. The solutions we're providing will improve the quality of life in Brazil for generations to come and support the country's long-term economic development. Brazil is at a turning point in its economical development, and these major events will speed up works in infrastructure laying the foundations of sustainable growth." said Paulo Stark, CEO of Siemens Brazil.

Major events like soccer championships and the Olympic Games are a catalyst for investment in their host countries' infrastructures. Only ten to twenty percent of this investment goes into event-specific installations such as stadiums. Eighty to ninety percent goes into urban and countrywide infrastructure – for example, new streets, traffic management systems, airports, metro stations, safety and security systems, housing, hotels, sports facilities and, even, new power plants.

In today's world, sustainability, efficiency and environmental impact are also important selection criteria when infrastructure investments are being planned. In everything from stadiums, water supply and energy supply to safety, security, healthcare and transportation, Siemens is making a key contribution to ensuring that the games in Brazil will be conducted on a sustainable, energy-efficient basis. The company is providing Mane Garrincha National Stadium – the venue for the Confederations Cup opener and for seven World Cup games – with advanced safety, security and building systems. Equipped with energy-efficient building technology solutions from Siemens, Mane Garrincha is the world's first stadium to aim for LEED platinum – the top category of the international standard for ecofriendly construction.

In Manaus, the capital city of the state of Amazonas, and one of the cities hosting the World Cup 2014, Siemens and its partners are currently building the UTE Mauá 3 combined cycle power plant. The facility will help meet the region's rapidly growing energy requirements while increasing its power supply system stability. With an installed capacity of around 580 megawatts, UTE Mauá 3 will be one of the region's largest gas-fired power plants and replace a large number of its diesel generators, which have a negative environmental impact due to their low energy efficiency and high levels of exhaust emissions.

Siemens provides smart technology to unite the Brazilian power grid under a single and reliable system. To establish a nationwide Smart Grid, the Brazilian National Power Grid Operator (ONS) will receive advanced technology for monitoring and controlling the national electrical transmission network in real time, optimizing existing resources in the network, reducing operating expenses, and making Brazil's power system safer and more flexible and efficient. Therefore Energy Management Systems from Siemens will be implemented at the Operation Centers in Brasília, Florianópolis, Recife, and Rio de

Smart Technologies from Siemens also help meet the need for treated water for more than 20 million people in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region. Siemens provided software and automation system solutions for the Brazilian water company Sabesp and they jointly developed a Smart solution that is helping to provide water to the people in the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo.

At the country's largest airport, Guarulhos International in São Paulo, Siemens is installing energy supply solutions for the new TPS3 passenger terminal. The airport's capacity is being massively expanded to cope with the increase in passenger volumes in the year of World Cup 2014: around 40 million people are expected to pass through the airport in 2014 compared to some 33 million in 2012. To help meet the airport's energy requirements, Siemens is providing medium- and low-voltage systems and a transformer that will link the new transformer station with the airport's existing power grid.

Transformers for São Paulo's airport are being built at Siemens' factory in Jundiai near São Paulo. Jundiai is one of Siemens' 14 production facilities and seven R&D centers in Brazil. The company has been active in the country for more than 140 years. With more than 9,000 employees, Siemens in Brazil posted revenue of some 2 billion Euro in fiscal 2012.

In the last century, Siemens played a key role in Brazil's modernization. Half of the country's energy is generated with the help of products and solutions from Siemens. The company has supplied about one-third of all the imaging devices in use in Brazil's healthcare system. Having opened nine new factories and created 4,000 new jobs in the last ten years alone, Siemens in Brazil plans to grow still further in the years ahead and increase its investment in local value creation accordingly.

Siemens AG (Berlin and Munich) is a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, operating in the fields of industry, energy and healthcare as well as providing infrastructure solutions, primarily for cities and metropolitan areas. For over 165 years, Siemens has stood for technological excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality. The company is the world's largest provider of environmental technologies. Around 40 percent of its total revenue stems from green products and solutions. In fiscal 2012, which ended on September 30, 2012, revenue from continuing operations totaled €78.5 billion and income from continuing operations €4.7 billion (incl.

-Pharmaceutical multinational to move into seventh floor of the Occidente Tower
-This real estate project was developed by IBERDROLA's subsidiary along with the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Group, Sonae Sierra and CBRE Global Investors

The Colombo Towers office complex, developed in Lisbon on a joint basis by IBERDROLA INMOBILIARIA, the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Group, Sonae Sierra and CBRE Global Investors, has a new distinguished tenant, Lilly Portugal.

This company has rented 1,000 square meters of office space on the seventh floor of the Occidente Tower, one of the two making up this complex built above the Colombo Shopping Centre, thus closing what has become one of the most important lease operations completed in Portugal in the year 2013.

Lilly Portugal, which joins other top-notch tenants such as WS Atkins, Leo Farmacéutica, Lusotechnip, Sonae Sierra, Manpower and Servdebt, is a company that belongs to the U.S. multinational Ely Lilly, a leader in the pharmaceutical sector, with operations in 146 countries and over 38,000 employees.

The Colombo Towers are designed to provide a solution to the lack of high-quality large spaces identified by the developers in the Lisbon office market. The project includes two 14-floor towers, each with a total gross surface area of 29,000 square metres. These benefit from all the services offered by the shopping centre: an impressive range of restaurants, a hypermarket, gym, a chemist, launderettes and banks, as well as a number of shops selling a wide variety of products.

The total built area, encompassing the towers, shopping centre and car parks, covers almost 500,000 square metres, making it Portugal's largest mixed-use project. With nearly 2,000 square metres of open space per floor, the towers have been designed specifically to meet the needs of large companies.

The Colombo Towers' prime location is also one of its main attractions. Only a few minutes away from the airport, the Gare do Oriente transport hub and the city centre, the towers afford easy access to the city's major roads and can also be reached by public transport, with the Colegio-Militar/Luz underground station right below the complex being the obvious choice. Each tower has 500 underground parking spaces located below the shopping centre.

This project was designed by the architect José Quintela and incorporates the best practices in environmental management, earning it a certificate from the prestigious Lloyd's Register Quality Insurance (LRQA), the only certification organisation in the world able to operate in all industrial sectors in accordance with the NP EN ISO 14001:2004 and ESO 14001:2004 standards. The towers have also received a class B energy certification - the second highest - reflecting the care taken in building the façades and external shells.

IBERDROLA INMOBILIARIA offers a broad portfolio of products, ranging from first homes to holiday homes, office buildings, industrial units and shopping centres, as well as providing property consultancy and management services to third parties. The company currently owns rental property with more than 248,000 square metres of gross leasable area (GLA).

— WebWireID175894 —

Architecture / Construction / Building

Business Announcements

Medical / Pharmaceuticals

Real Estate

WebWire® | More Feeds

DURANAR ULTRA-COOL coatings to help achieve LEED Platinum certification goal

PITTSBURGH, – PPG Industries' (NYSE:PPG) coil and extrusion coatings group announced that it has donated DURANAR® ULTRA-COOL® coatings to the Habitat for Humanity home being constructed as a demostration of affordable sustainability at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Conference and Expo in Denver, June 20-22.

The home, which is being built by AIA Denver in partnership with CAD-1, Inc., a Denver-based provider of architectual design software, is seeking to become the first 'green' Habitat for Humanity project to earn LEED® Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

PPG donated Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings in Colonial Red for the cool metal roof, which was painted by Berridge Manufacturing, San Antonio, Texas, and installed by Superior Roofing & Architectural Sheet Metal, Aurora, Colo. Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings are formulated with proprietary ultraviolet (UV)-reflective pigments that enable homes and buildings to stay cooler and help save energy by reducing the need to use air-conditioning systems.

Colonial Red is one of hundreds of colors of Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings registered with ENERGY STAR® and the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). Because of its exceptional solar reflectivity, the palette of Duranar ULTRA-Cool coatings includes an extensive range of light, medium and dark colors for color roof applications, giving architects the freedom to design in color without sacrificing energy performance.

The Habitat for Humanity home is being constructed by Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity in Kittredge, Colo., a suburb of Denver, with donated materials and labor. It was designed by Margaret Baldwin Blakely, AIA, Alan Ford, AIA, Kathy Ford, AIA, and Matt Weaver, associate AIA, winners of a Habitat for Humanity of Colorado design-build competition.

Bank of America announced that it has provided funding to assist with the restoration of Simon Rodia's Watts Towers in Los Angeles through its 2013 Art Conservation Project, a global effort that will conserve 24 projects in 16 countries around the world, including eight in the United States.

The funding has been used to help Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) provide staff time and expertise to identify repairs to the Watts Towers, provide day-to-day maintenance and long-term care of the Towers, and increase awareness of the landmark. The project was selected because the Watts Towers, constructed between 1921 and 1954 by Simon Rodia, are an iconic part of Los Angeles and due to wear and tear are in need of necessary restoration efforts.

According to Michael Govan, CEO, and Wallis Annenberg, director of LACMA, 'Simon Rodia's Watts Towers are among the most iconic works of art in the world, and they must be preserved for future generations to see and enjoy. We are grateful that Bank of America saw the importance of this endeavor and has chosen to support our conservation efforts.'

Art conservation project recipients were unveiled today at an event at LACMA, including notable projects such as 'Number 1A,' 'One,' and 'Echo' by Jackson Pollock at the Museum of Modern Art; 13 mural drawings by Diego Rivera at the Detroit Institute of Arts; four Tudor paintings at National Portrait Gallery in London, England; 'Scholar in His Study' by Rembrandt at the National Gallery in Prague, Czech Republic; and a Frida Kahlo photography collection at La Casa Azul in Mexico City, Mexico.

The program was introduced in 2010 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and expanded to the Americas, Asia and Australia in 2012. All of these global regions will continue to receive grant funding in 2013. Including this year's recipients, the Bank of America Art Conservation Project will have funded the conservation of 58 projects in 26 countries.

Through the conservation of these important works of art around the world, Bank of America is helping to preserve local culture and engaging present and future communities where we live and work.

'Art has a unique ability to connect people and communities and to help economies thrive,' said Rena DeSisto, global arts and culture executive, Bank of America. "The works of art we have selected as part of the 2013 Art Conservation Project can provide a lasting reflection of people and history. As a company with clients in more than 100 countries, we are funding the preservation of these important works to contribute to the cultural enrichment and advancement of future generations."

Bank of America's support for the arts is diverse and global, and includes loans of our art collection to museums at no cost, sponsorships, grants to arts organizations for arts education, and the preservation of cultural treasures.

'The Watts Towers are an integral part of the culture and history of Los Angeles, so it made sense for us to support its preservation given the bank's extensive local history,' said Raul Anaya, Bank of America Los Angeles market president. 'Bank of America's philanthropic focus on the arts includes funding for art conservation as a way to protect aging landmarks and artwork of historical significance.'

Last month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed two rules to help protect Americans from exposure to formaldehyde. These proposed rules are meant to ensure that composite wood products produced domestically or imported into the United States meet the formaldehyde emission standards established by Congress.

'The proposed regulations announced today reflect EPA's continued efforts to protect the public from exposure to harmful chemicals in their daily lives,' said James J. Jones, EPA's acting assistant administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention. 'Once final, the rules will reduce the public's exposure to this harmful chemical found in many products in our homes and workplaces."

The first proposed new rule would limit how much formaldehyde may be emitted from hardwood plywood, medium-density fiberboard, particleboard and finished goods, that are sold, supplied, offered for sale, manufactured, or imported in the United States. The second rule would establish a third-party certification framework designed to ensure that manufacturers of composite wood products meet the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) formaldehyde emission standards by having their composite wood products certified though an accredited third-party certifier.

The month before, the California Environmental Protection Agency's Air Resources Board (ARB) posted a new online document about reducing formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products and health effects due to exposure. It stated, 'Health effects can include nose and throat irritation, a burning sensation of the eyes, wheezing, difficulty in breathing, and can trigger asthma symptoms in those with asthma. Sensitive individuals may experience fatigue, headache, and nausea. Formaldehyde is also a known human carcinogen.'

One company that has been on the forefront of protecting people at work and in their homes from exposure to elevated levels of formaldehyde is Clark Seif Clark. 'A number of building materials, furnishing, consumer products and workplace activities can expose people to elevated levels of formaldehyde,' reported Franco Seif, President of Clark Seif Clark (CSC), a leading indoor environmental quality consulting firm. 'CSC provides testing and consulting services to identify and resolve cases of formaldehyde exposure.'

To learn more about testing for formaldehyde or other indoor environmental concerns, please visit Clark Seif Clark at http://www.csceng.com, email csc@csceng.com or call (800) 807-1118.

About Clark Seif Clark
CSC was established in 1989 to help clients in both public and private sectors address environmental, IAQ, and health and safety (EH&S) issues. CSC is a leading provider of these services with multiple offices along the western seaboard and southwest. The company believes in science-based protocols and has a strong background in engineering, making them the preferred environmental consultants to industrial clients, healthcare facilities, architects, schools, builders, contractors, developers and real estate professionals.

— WebWireID175775 —

Architecture / Construction / Building

Business Announcements

Environment

Media Advisory

Workforce Management / Human Resources

WebWire® | More Feeds

Ransomes Jacobsen Now Offering New Turfco Widespin 1550 Top Dresser

Ipswich, Suffolk, UK - Ransomes Jacobsen, the distributor of Turfco products in the UK and Europe, is now offering the all-new WideSpin 1550 top dresser. The 1550 is the most advanced addition to Turfco's WideSpin family, offering unprecedented control and precision. It features more capacity, easier hopper loading, programmable presets, rate calculation and a wider range of applications.

The new hydraulic system and spinner design of the patented WideSpin technology provides more versatility, delivering a consistent, even spread. Operators can now switch between a new, superlight application to ultra-heavy, and everything in between.

A new electronic controller also makes adjusting the application rates simple. Without leaving the seat, operators can adjust 95 percent of the application rates for spreading on tees, greens and approaches, ensuring effective results again and again. Additionally, the WideSpin 1550 features instantaneous width and rate control for topdressing tee boxes, greens and approaches.

As well as featuring the widest hopper opening in the industry, it also includes a larger capacity hopper to increase productivity and efficiency. The wider opening prevents sand and material from spilling over the sides and makes loading easier in general. The WideSpin 1550's 20% increase in capacity gives operators the ability to top dress more area without the need for reloading. It provides more consistent spreading, enabling greenkeepers to top dress 18 greens in less than 90 minutes.

"Turfco has listened to the needs of greenkeepers and addressed all of the issues they have with their topdressing programmes," said John Quinton, Ransomes Jacobsen's UK and Ireland Sales Manager. "They have been able to take the guesswork and complicated mechanical adjustments out of topdressing and assist greenkeepers with achieving their agronomic goals."

The optional electronic control has the industry's most advanced and intuitive system for calculating topdressing rates. Using the operator's input of spinner, belt and metering gate settings, the controller automatically calculates the rate of the application and how much material is needed. Nearly all applications can be made without a mechanical adjustment, and operators can save up to four different rates.

Additional WideSpin 1550 Tow-Behind features include:

-Galvanized hopper for worry-free rust proof durability – no paint to get sanded away.
-Patented three-position switch guarantees spinners turn on before conveyor, ensuring a clean application every time.
-Trench filler attachment available

The 1550 top dressers are available in three options: with an engine to power the hydraulics resulting in a self-contained unit for towing behind a vehicle; as a hydraulic-driven tow-behind unit powered by the towing vehicle's hydraulics or a hydraulic truck-mounted unit. All offer spreading widths from 2.13–13.72 metres (7-45 feet) and spreading ranges from as little as 0.08mm to more than 5.00mm. All units are also available with manual or electronic control.

The WideSpin top dresser range is covered by Turfco's three-year warranty.

Ransomes Jacobsen is a Textron Inc (NYSE:TXT) company and more information on the product offering can be found at http://www.ransomesjacobsen.com/

Recent weather conditions have brought exceptional amounts of rain to many parts of the Midwest. Last week, the Holland Sentinel published a story about what their readers in Western Michigan should know about mold growing in their homes.

The article discusses the recent rains and the fact that many property owners have experienced moisture issues in their basements. It stated, 'Mold often grows quickly, destroying possessions and posing a risk to health. Know what to look for and what to do if mold invades your home.'

Not only can mold cause structural damage and lower a property's value, but mold can cause a wide assortment of medical concerns. These range from allergies and asthma triggers to toxins produced by some types of mold and even fungal infections in people with a weakened immune system.

In a suburb of Chicago, one company has developed a product that quickly and efficiently removes mold and mildew stains from many common building materials. 'MMR has been proven highly effective and utilized extensively following Hurricane Sandy and the flooding that occurred several months ago across many parts of the Midwest,' reported Chris Heller from FastMoldRemoval.com. 'Although MMR is a favorite among mold remediation professionals, because it is a safe, biodegradable, and non-flammable commercial grade product, it is also an ideal product to be used by property owners facing mold challenges deemed small enough in scope by the EPA to be performed by the homeowner.'

MMR works by utilizing a powerful cleaning agent that penetrates soiled areas almost instantly, leaving surfaces clean and free from mold stains. An online video showing how effective MMR is at removing mold and mildew stains can be seen at:
http://youtu.be/Eqn64M-lPZw

To learn more about MMR mold stain remover, Shockwave disinfectant, and the tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) that can help to safely eliminate mold problems, please visit http://www.FastMoldRemoval.com, email mmr@moldsolutionsintl.com or call 708-441-7982.
